Haggai 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of Yahweh wasaddressed through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah and to Joshua son ofJehozadak the high priest as fol ows,	1 En el segundo año del rey Darío, el primer día del sexto mes, la palabra del Señor fue dirigida, por medio del profeta Ageo, a Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, gobernador de Judá y a Josué, hijo de Iehosadac, el Sumo Sacerdote, en estos términos:
2 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "This people says: The time has not yet come to rebuild the Temple ofYahweh." '	2 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Este pueblo dice: Todavía no ha llegado el momento de reconstruir la Casa del Señor.
3 (And the word of Yahweh was addressed through the prophet Haggai, as follows,)	3 Y la palabra del Señor llego, por medio del profeta Ageo, en estos términos:
4 'Is this a time for you to live in your panel ed houses, when this House lies in ruins?	4 ¿Es este acaso el momento de que ustedes vivan en sus casas revestidas de madera, mientras esta Casa está en ruinas?
5 So now, Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.	5 Ahora bien, así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: ¡Consideren la situación en que se encuentran!
6 You have sown much and harvested little; you eat but never have enough, drink but never have yourfill, put on clothes but feel no warmth. The wage-earner gets his wages only to put them in a bag with a hole init."	6 Ustedes han sembrado mucho, pero han cosechado poco; han comido, pero no se han saciado; han bebido, pero no han apagado su sed; se han vestido, pero no se han abrigado; y el asalariado ha puesto su jornal en saco roto.
7 Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Think careful y about your behaviour.
8 Go up into the hills, fetch timber and rebuild the House; and I shal take pleasure in it and manifest myglory there -- Yahweh says.	8 Suban a la montaña traigan madera y reconstruyan la Casa; yo la aceptaré gustoso y manifestaré mi gloria, dice el Señor.
9 The abundance you expected proved to be little. When you brought the harvest in, I blasted it. Andwhy? - Yahweh Sabaoth declares. Because while my House lies in ruins, each of you is busy with his ownhouse.	9 Ustedes esperaban mucho y la cosecha fue escasa. Y yo aventé lo que ustedes habían llevado a su casa. ¿Por qué? –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos–. A causa de mi Casa, que está en ruinas, mientras cada uno de ustedes se preocupa por la suya propia.
10 That is why the sky has withheld the rain and the earth withheld its yield.	10 Por eso, por culpa de ustedes, el cielo ha retenido el rocío y la tierra ha rehusado sus frutos.
11 I have cal ed down drought on land and hil s, on grain, on new wine, on olive oil and on al the produceof the ground, on humans and animals and al your labours." '	11 Yo he llamado a la sequía sobre la tierra y sobre las montañas, sobre el trigo, el vino nuevo, el aceite fresco y sobre todo lo que produce el suelo, sobre los hombres y los animales, y sobre todo el trabajo de sus manos.
12 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak the high priest and the entire remnant of thepeople, paid attention to the voice of Yahweh their God and to the words of the prophet Haggai, which Yahwehtheir God had sent him to deliver. And the people were fil ed with fear before Yahweh.	12 Entonces Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, Josué, hijo de Iehosadac, el Sumo Sacerdote y todo el resto del pueblo escucharon la voz del Señor, su Dios y las palabras del profeta Ageo, según la misión que el Señor, su Dios, le había encomendado. Y el pueblo sintió temor en la presencia del Señor.
13 Haggai, the messenger of Yahweh, then passed on Yahweh's message to the people, 'I am with you-- declares Yahweh.'	13 Ageo, el mensajero del Señor, habló al pueblo conforme al mensaje del Señor, diciendo: «Yo estoy con ustedes –oráculo del Señor–».
14 And Yahweh roused the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel governor of Judah, the spirit of Joshuason of Jehozadak the high priest and the spirit of the entire remnant of the people; they came and set to work inthe Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth, their God.	14 Entonces el Señor despertó el espíritu de Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, gobernador de Judá, el de Josué, hijo de Iehosadac, el Sumo Sacerdote, y el espíritu de todo el resto del pueblo: ellos fueron y se pusieron a trabajar en el Templo de su Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos.
15 This was on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month. In the second year of King Darius,	15 Era el día veinticuatro del sexto mes, del segundo año del rey Darío.
