Amos 3

NEW JERUSALEM	STUTTGARTENSIA-DELITZSCH
1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:	1 שִׁמְעוּ אֶת־הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל כָּל־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלֵיתִי מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לֵאמֹר
2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.	2 רַק אֶתְכֶם יָדַעְתִּי מִכֹּל מִשְׁפְּחֹות הָאֲדָמָה עַל־כֵּן אֶפְקֹד עֲלֵיכֶם אֵת כָּל־עֲוֹנֹתֵיכֶם
3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?	3 הֲיֵלְכוּ שְׁנַיִם יַחְדָּו בִּלְתִּי אִם־נֹועָדוּ
4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?	4 הֲיִשְׁאַג אַרְיֵה בַּיַּעַר וְטֶרֶף אֵין לֹו הֲיִתֵּן כְּפִיר קֹולֹו מִמְּעֹנָתֹו בִּלְתִּי אִם־לָכָד
5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?	5 הֲתִפֹּל צִפֹּור עַל־פַּח הָאָרֶץ וּמֹוקֵשׁ אֵין לָהּ הֲיַעֲלֶה־פַּח מִן־הָאֲדָמָה וְלָכֹוד לֹא יִלְכֹּוד
6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?	6 אִם־יִתָּקַע שֹׁופָר בְּעִיר וְעָם לֹא יֶחֱרָדוּ אִם־תִּהְיֶה רָעָה בְּעִיר וַיהוָה לֹא עָשָׂה
7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.	7 כִּי לֹא יַעֲשֶׂה אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה דָּבָר כִּי אִם־גָּלָה סֹודֹו אֶל־עֲבָדָיו הַנְּבִיאִים
8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?	8 אַרְיֵה שָׁאָג מִי לֹא יִירָא אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה דִּבֶּר מִי לֹא יִנָּבֵא
9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'	9 הַשְׁמִיעוּ עַל־אַרְמְנֹות בְּאַשְׁדֹּוד וְעַל־אַרְמְנֹות בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וְאִמְרוּ הֵאָסְפוּ עַל־הָרֵי שֹׁמְרֹון וּרְאוּ מְהוּמֹת רַבֹּות בְּתֹוכָהּ וַעֲשׁוּקִים בְּקִרְבָּהּ
10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.	10 וְלֹא־יָדְעוּ עֲשֹׂות־נְכֹחָה נְאֻם־יְהוָה הָאֹוצְרִים חָמָס וָשֹׁד בְּאַרְמְנֹותֵיהֶם׃ פ
11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.	11 לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה צַר וּסְבִיב הָאָרֶץ וְהֹורִד מִמֵּךְ עֻזֵּךְ וְנָבֹזּוּ אַרְמְנֹותָיִךְ
12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.	12 כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר יַצִּיל הָרֹעֶה מִפִּי הָאֲרִי שְׁתֵּי כְרָעַיִם אֹו בְדַל־אֹזֶן כֵּן יִנָּצְלוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּשֹׁמְרֹון בִּפְאַת מִטָּה וּבִדְמֶשֶׁק עָרֶשׂ
13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-	13 שִׁמְעוּ וְהָעִידוּ בְּבֵית יַעֲקֹב נְאֻם־אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה אֱלֹהֵי הַצְּבָאֹות
14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.	14 כִּי בְּיֹום פָּקְדִי פִשְׁעֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל עָלָיו וּפָקַדְתִּי עַל־מִזְבְּחֹות בֵּית־אֵל וְנִגְדְּעוּ קַרְנֹות הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְנָפְלוּ לָאָרֶץ
15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.	15 וְהִכֵּיתִי בֵית־הַחֹרֶף עַל־בֵּית הַקָּיִץ וְאָבְדוּ בָּתֵּי הַשֵּׁן וְסָפוּ בָּתִּים רַבִּים נְאֻם־יְהוָה׃ ס
