Amos 3

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:	1 Escuchen esta palabra que el Señor pronuncia contra ustedes, israelitas, contra toda la familia que yo hice subir del país de Egipto:
2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.	2 Sólo a ustedes los elegí entre todas las familias de la tierra; por eso les haré rendir cuenta de todas sus iniquidades.
3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?	3 ¿Van juntos dos hombres sin haberse puesto de acuerdo?
4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?	4 ¿Ruge el león en la selva sin tener una presa? ¿Alza la voz el cachorro desde su guarida sin haber cazado nada?
5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?	5 ¿Cae el pájaro a tierra sobre una trampa si no hay un cebo? ¿Salta la trampa del suelo sin haber atrapado nada?
6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?	6 ¿Suena la trompeta en una ciudad sin que el pueblo se alarme? ¿Sucede una desgracia en la ciudad sin que el Señor la provoque?
7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.	7 Porque el Señor no hace nada sin revelar su secreto a sus servidores los profetas.
8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?	8 El león ha rugido: ¿quién no temerá? El Señor ha hablado: ¿quién no profetizará?
9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'	9 Hagan oír su voz en los palacios de Asiria y en los palacios de Egipto, y digan: Reúnanse en las montañas de Samaría, y vean cuántos desórdenes hay en medio de ella, cuántas opresiones en su interior.
10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.	10 No saben obrar con rectitud –oráculo del Señor– esos que amontonan violencia y devastación en sus palacios.
11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.	11 Por eso, así habla el Señor: El enemigo cercará el país, te despojará de tu poderío y tus palacios serán saqueados.
12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.	12 Así habla el Señor: Como el pastor arranca de las fauces del león dos patas o la punta de una oreja, así serán sentados en Samaría, en un rincón del diván, sobre un lecho confortable.
13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-	13 Escuchen y atestigüen contra la casa de Jacob –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos–:
14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.	14 El día en que yo castigue a Israel por sus crímenes, castigaré los altares de Betel; los ángulos del altar serán demolidos y caerán por tierra.
15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.	15 Derribaré la casa de invierno junto con la casa de verano; desaparecerán las casas de marfil y las mansiones se derrumbarán –oráculo del Señor–.
