Amos 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 Listen, Israelites, to this prophecy which Yahweh pronounces against you, against the whole familywhich I brought up from Egypt:	1 Ascoltate, o figliuoli di Israele, la parola detta dal Signore sopra di voi, sopra tutta quella famiglia tratta da lui dal paese d'Egitto. Egli dice:
2 You alone have I intimately known of all the families of earth, that is why I shal punish you for al yourwrong-doings.	2 Voi soli ho io conosciuti di tutte le famiglie della terra, per questo io vi punirò di tutte le vostre iniquità.
3 Do two people travel together unless they have agreed to do so?	3 Posson elleno andar insieme due persone, se non son daccordo tra loro?
4 Does the lion roar in the forest if it has no prey? Does the young lion growl in his lair if it has caughtnothing?	4 Ruggisce forse il lione, quand' egli non trova preda? e il giovane lioncello alzerà forse le grida dalla sua tana, senza ch'ei prenda qualche cosa?
5 Does a bird fall on the ground in a net unless a trap has been set for it? Will the net spring up from theground without catching something?	5 Caderà forse nei laccio sopra la terra un uccello, senza l'opera dell'uccellatore? Si toglie forse di terra il laccio prima chè abbia fatta sua preda?
6 Does the trumpet sound in the city without the people being alarmed? Does misfortune come to a city ifYahweh has not caused it?	6 Suonerà ella la tromba nella città, senza che il popolo si commuova? Vi sarà egli disastro nella città, che non sia opera del Signore?
7 No indeed, Lord Yahweh does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.	7 Perocché il Signore Dio non fa queste cose, senza rivelare i suoi segreti a profeti suoi servi.
8 The lion roars: who is not afraid? Lord Yahweh has spoken: who will not prophesy?	8 Rugge il lione: chi sarà senza paura? Il Signore Dio ha parlato: chi riterrassi dal profetare?
9 From the palace roofs of Assyria and from the palace roofs of Egypt, proclaim aloud, 'Assemble on thehil s of Samaria and observe the grave disorders inside her and the acts of oppression there!'	9 Fate sapere alle case di Azoto, e alle case del paese di Egitto, e dite: Ragunatevi sulle montagne di Samaria, e osservate le molte strane cose, che sono in mezzo a lei, e le oppressioni, che si commettono dentro di lei.
10 Little they know of right conduct -declares Yahweh- who cram their palaces with violence andextortion.	10 Non han saputo quel, che si fosse il far giustizia, dice il Signore: hanno adunato tesoro di iniquità, e di rapine nelle loro case.
11 This is why -- Lord Yahweh says this- an enemy will soon besiege the land, he wil bring down yourstrength and your palaces wil be looted.	11 Per questo dice il Signore Dio: Sarà percossa tutta intorno la terra, e sarà tolta a te la tua fortezza, e le tue case saran saccheggiate.
12 Yahweh says this: As the shepherd rescues two legs or the tip of an ear from the lion's mouth, so wilthe children of Israel be salvaged who now lol in Samaria in the corners of their beds, on their divans ofDamascus.	12 Queste cose dice il Signore: Come se un pastore tolga di bocca al lione due stinchi, o un pezzo d'orecchio, così saranno salvati i figliuoli d'Israele, che abitano in Samaria in un angolo di letto, e nel letto di Damasco.
13 Listen and testify against the House of Jacob -declares the Lord Yahweh, God Sabaoth-	13 Udite, e fatene protesta alla casa di Giacobbe, dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti;
14 the day when I punish Israel for his crimes I shal also punish the altars of Bethel; the horns of thealtar wil be hacked off and wil fal to the ground.	14 Imperocché in quel giorno, quand'io comincerò a punire le prevaricazioni d'Israele, punirò lui, e gli altari di Bethel; e saran troncate le corna dell'altare, e anderanno per terra.
15 I shall blast winter house with summer house, ivory houses wil be destroyed and many mansionscease to be -declares Yahweh.	15 E atterrerò i palazzi d'inverno co' palazzi d'estate, e anderanno in rovina e case di avorio, e saran distrutte le case in gran numero, dice il Signore.
