Jeremiah 17

NEW JERUSALEM	LXX
1 'The sin of Judah is written with an iron pen, engraved with a diamond point on the tablet of the heartand on the horns of their altars,	1 -
2 while their children remember their altars and their sacred pole beside the green trees, on the lofty hil s.	2 -
3 My mountain on the plain, your wealth and all your treasures I shal hand over to be plundered,because of the sin of your high places throughout your territory.	3 -
4 You wil have to relinquish your heritage which I gave you; I wil enslave you to your enemies in acountry which you do not know, for my fiery anger kindled by you wil burn for ever.'	4 -
5 Yahweh says this, 'Accursed be anyone who trusts in human beings, who relies on human strengthand whose heart turns from Yahweh.	5 επικαταρατος ο ανθρωπος ος την ελπιδα εχει επ' ανθρωπον και στηρισει σαρκα βραχιονος αυτου επ' αυτον και απο κυριου αποστη η καρδια αυτου
6 Such a person is like scrub in the wastelands: when good comes, it does not affect him since he livesin the parched places of the desert, uninhabited, salt land.	6 και εσται ως η αγριομυρικη η εν τη ερημω ουκ οψεται οταν ελθη τα αγαθα και κατασκηνωσει εν αλιμοις και εν ερημω εν γη αλμυρα ητις ου κατοικειται
7 'Blessed is anyone who trusts in Yahweh, with Yahweh to rely on.	7 και ευλογημενος ο ανθρωπος ος πεποιθεν επι τω κυριω και εσται κυριος ελπις αυτου
8 Such a person is like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream: when the heat comes ithas nothing to fear, its foliage stays green; untroubled in a year of drought, it never stops bearing fruit.	8 και εσται ως ξυλον ευθηνουν παρ' υδατα και επι ικμαδα βαλει ριζας αυτου και ου φοβηθησεται οταν ελθη καυμα και εσται επ' αυτω στελεχη αλσωδη εν ενιαυτω αβροχιας ου φοβηθησεται και ου διαλειψει ποιων καρπον
9 'The heart is more devious than any other thing, and is depraved; who can pierce its secrets?	9 βαθεια η καρδια παρα παντα και ανθρωπος εστιν και τις γνωσεται αυτον
10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, test the motives, to give each person what his conduct and his actionsdeserve.	10 εγω κυριος εταζων καρδιας και δοκιμαζων νεφρους του δουναι εκαστω κατα τας οδους αυτου και κατα τους καρπους των επιτηδευματων αυτου
11 'The partridge will hatch eggs it has not laid. No different is the person who gets riches unjustly: hisdays half done, they wil desert him and he prove a fool after al .'	11 εφωνησεν περδιξ συνηγαγεν α ουκ ετεκεν ποιων πλουτον αυτου ου μετα κρισεως εν ημισει ημερων αυτου εγκαταλειψουσιν αυτον και επ' εσχατων αυτου εσται αφρων
12 A glorious throne, sublime from the beginning, such is our Holy Place.	12 θρονος δοξης υψωμενος αγιασμα ημων
13 Yahweh, hope of Israel, al who abandon you wil be put to shame, those who turn from you wil beregistered in the underworld, since they have abandoned Yahweh, the fountain of living water.	13 υπομονη ισραηλ κυριε παντες οι καταλιποντες σε καταισχυνθητωσαν αφεστηκοτες επι της γης γραφητωσαν οτι εγκατελιπον πηγην ζωης τον κυριον
14 Heal me, Yahweh, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shal be saved, for you are my praise.	14 ιασαι με κυριε και ιαθησομαι σωσον με και σωθησομαι οτι καυχημα μου συ ει
15 Look, they keep saying to me, 'Where is Yahweh's word? Let it come true then!'	15 ιδου αυτοι λεγουσι προς με που εστιν ο λογος κυριου ελθατω
16 Yet I have never urged you to send disaster, I never desired the fatal day, this you know; what camefrom my lips was not concealed from you.	16 εγω δε ουκ εκοπιασα κατακολουθων οπισω σου και ημεραν ανθρωπου ουκ επεθυμησα συ επιστη τα εκπορευομενα δια των χειλεων μου προ προσωπου σου εστιν
17 Do not be a terror to me, you, my refuge in time of disaster.	17 μη γενηθης μοι εις αλλοτριωσιν φειδομενος μου εν ημερα πονηρα
18 Let my persecutors be confounded, not me, let them, not me, be terrified. On them bring the day ofdisaster, destroy them, destroy them twice over!	18 καταισχυνθητωσαν οι διωκοντες με και μη καταισχυνθειην εγω πτοηθειησαν αυτοι και μη πτοηθειην εγω επαγαγε επ' αυτους ημεραν πονηραν δισσον συντριμμα συντριψον αυτους
19 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and stand at the Gate of the Sons of the People by which the kings ofJudah go in and out -- and at al the gates of Jerusalem.	19 ταδε λεγει κυριος βαδισον και στηθι εν πυλαις υιων λαου σου εν αις εισπορευονται εν αυταις βασιλεις ιουδα και εν αις εκπορευονται εν αυταις και εν πασαις ταις πυλαις ιερουσαλημ
20 Say to them, "Listen to the word of Yahweh, you kings of Judah, al you people of Judah too, and alyou inhabitants of Jerusalem who pass through the gates.	20 και ερεις προς αυτους ακουσατε λογον κυριου βασιλεις ιουδα και πασα ιουδαια και πασα ιερουσαλημ οι εισπορευομενοι εν ταις πυλαις ταυταις
21 Yahweh says this: As you value your lives, on no account carry a burden on the Sabbath day or bringit in through the gates of Jerusalem.	21 ταδε λεγει κυριος φυλασσεσθε τας ψυχας υμων και μη αιρετε βασταγματα εν τη ημερα των σαββατων και μη εκπορευεσθε ταις πυλαις ιερουσαλημ
22 Bring no burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day, and do no work. Keep the Sabbath day holy,as I ordered your ancestors.	22 και μη εκφερετε βασταγματα εξ οικιων υμων εν τη ημερα των σαββατων και παν εργον ου ποιησετε αγιασατε την ημεραν των σαββατων καθως ενετειλαμην τοις πατρασιν υμων και ουκ ηκουσαν και ουκ εκλιναν το ους αυτων
23 They would not hear, would not pay attention; they deliberately refused to listen or accept instruction.	23 και εσκληρυναν τον τραχηλον αυτων υπερ τους πατερας αυτων του μη ακουσαι μου και του μη δεξασθαι παιδειαν
24 But if you listen careful y to me, Yahweh declares, and bring no burden in through the gates of this cityon the Sabbath day, if you keep the Sabbath holy and do no work on that day,	24 και εσται εαν ακοη ακουσητε μου λεγει κυριος του μη εισφερειν βασταγματα δια των πυλων της πολεως ταυτης εν τη ημερα των σαββατων και αγιαζειν την ημεραν των σαββατων του μη ποιειν παν εργον
25 then, through the gates of this city, kings and princes occupying the throne of David wil continue tomake their entry, riding in chariots or on horseback, they, their chief men, the people of Judah and theinhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city wil be inhabited for ever.	25 και εισελευσονται δια των πυλων της πολεως ταυτης βασιλεις και αρχοντες καθημενοι επι θρονου δαυιδ και επιβεβηκοτες εφ' αρμασιν και ιπποις αυτων αυτοι και οι αρχοντες αυτων ανδρες ιουδα και οι κατοικουντες ιερουσαλημ και κατοικισθησεται η πολις αυτη εις τον αιωνα
26 They wil come from the towns of Judah, from the districts round Jerusalem, from the territory ofBenjamin, from the lowlands, from the highlands, from the Negeb, to offer burnt offering and sacrifice, and cerealoffering and incense, to offer thanksgiving sacrifices in the Temple of Yahweh.	26 και ηξουσιν εκ των πολεων ιουδα και κυκλοθεν ιερουσαλημ και εκ γης βενιαμιν και εκ της πεδινης και εκ του ορους και εκ της προς νοτον φεροντες ολοκαυτωματα και θυσιαν και θυμιαματα και μαναα και λιβανον φεροντες αινεσιν εις οικον κυριου
27 But if you do not listen to me to keep the Sabbath day holy, and to refrain from entering the gates ofJerusalem with burdens on the Sabbath day, then I shal set fire to its gates; fire wil devour the palaces ofJerusalem and not be quenched." '	27 και εσται εαν μη εισακουσητε μου του αγιαζειν την ημεραν των σαββατων του μη αιρειν βασταγματα και μη εισπορευεσθαι ταις πυλαις ιερουσαλημ εν τη ημερα των σαββατων και αναψω πυρ εν ταις πυλαις αυτης και καταφαγεται αμφοδα ιερουσαλημ και ου σβεσθησεται
