Jeremiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests living at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.	1 Parole di Geremia figlio di Helkia, dei sacerdoti che furono in Anatot, nella regione di Beniamin.
2 The word of Yahweh came to him in the days of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenthyear of his reign;	2 A lui fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè al tempo di Giosia, figlio di Amon, re di Giuda, nell’anno decimoterzo del suo regno,
3 then in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiahson of Josiah, king of Judah, until the deportation of Jerusalem, in the fifth month.	3 e quindi anche al tempo di Joakim, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, sino alla fine dell’anno un decimo di Sedecia, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, fino alla deportazione di Gerusalemme nel quinto mese.
4 The word of Yahweh came to me, saying:	4 Mi fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè:
5 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you came to birth I consecrated you; I appointedyou as prophet to the nations.'	5 «Prima che ti formassi nell’utero, ti ho conosciuto; prima che tu uscissi dal seno, ti ho santificato; ti ho stabilito prefer delle nazioni».
6 I then said, 'Ah, ah, ah, Lord Yahweh; you see, I do not know how to speak: I am only a child!'	6 E io dissi: «Ohimè, Jahvè, ecco, io non so parlare, perché sono giovane».
7 But Yahweh replied, 'Do not say, "I am only a child," for you must go to all to whom I send you and saywhatever I command you.	7 Ma Jahvè mi rispose: «Non dire: “Sono un giovane”, ma va’ solo dove ti manderò e annuncia quanto di ordinerò.
8 Do not be afraid of confronting them, for I am with you to rescue you, Yahweh declares.'	8 Non temere al loro cospetto, perché io sono con te per liberarti». — Oracolo di Jahvè.
9 Then Yahweh stretched out his hand and touched my mouth, and Yahweh said to me: 'There! I have putmy words into your mouth.	9 Jahvè stese la mano, mi toccò la bocca e Jahvè disse a me: «Ecco, pongo le mie parole sulla tua bocca.
10 Look, today I have set you over the nations and kingdoms, to uproot and to knock down, to destroy andto overthrow, to build and to plant.'	10 Vedi, ti costituisco oggi sopra i popoli e sopra i regni per sradicare e demolire, per distruggere e abbattere, per edificare e piantare».
11 The word of Yahweh came to me, asking, 'Jeremiah, what do you see?' I answered, 'I see a branch ofthe Watchful Tree.'	11 Mi fu rivolta la parola di Jahvè: «Che cosa vedi, Geremia?» Io risposi: «Vedo un ramo di mandorlo».
12 Then Yahweh said, 'Wel seen, for I am watching over my word to perform it.'	12 Jahvè soggiunse: «Hai visto bene, poiché io vigilo sulla mia parola per realizzarla».
13 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me, asking, 'What do you see?' I answered, 'I see acooking pot on the boil, with its mouth tilting from the north.'	13 Quindi mi fu rivolta di nuovo la parola di Jahvè: «Che cosa vedi?» Io risposi: «Vedo una caldaia bollente; essa appare dal nord».
14 Then Yahweh said: 'From the north disaster wil come boiling over on all who live in the country,	14 Jahvè mi disse: «Dal nord ribollirà la sventura per tutti gli abitanti della terra.
15 for I am now summoning al the families of the kingdoms of the north, Yahweh declares. They wilcome, and each wil set his throne in front of the gates of Jerusalem, al round, against its wal s and against althe towns of Judah.	15 Poiché, ecco, io sto per chiamare tutti i regni del nord. — Oracolo di Jahvè. Essi verranno e ognuno porrà il trono davanti alle porte di Gerusalemme, intorno a tutte le sue mura e contro tutte le città di Giuda.
16 I shal pronounce my judgements on them because of al their wickedness, since they have abandonedme, offering incense to other gods and worshipping what their own hands have made.	16 Allen pronuncerò i miei giudizi contro di oro, per tutto il male che hanno commesso nell’abbandonarmi; mentre sacrificavano ad altri dèi e adoravano l’opera delle loro mani.
17 'As for you, prepare yourself for action. Stand up and tel them al I command you. Have no fear ofthem and in their presence I wil make you fearless.	17 Tu, poi, cingiti i lombi levati e di’ loro quanto ti ordinerò; altrimenti ti farò temere la loro faccia.
18 For look, today I have made you into a fortified city, a pil ar of iron, a wal of bronze to stand against thewhole country: the kings of Judah, its princes, its priests and the people of the country.	18 Ed ecco, io ti pongo, oggi, come città fortificata come un muro di bronzo contro tutto il paese contro i re di Giuda e i suoi capi contro i suoi sacerdoti e il popolo della terra.
19 They will fight against you but wil not overcome you, for I am with you, Yahweh declares, to rescueyou.'	19 Ti faranno guerra ma non ti sopraffaranno, perché io sono con te per salvarti». Oracolo di Jahvè.
