Leviticus 8

1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
2 'Take Aaron and with him his sons, the vestments, the anointing oil, the bul for the sacrifice for sin, thetwo rams and the basket of unleavened bread.	2 Tolle Aaron cum filiis suis, vestes eorum, et unctionis oleum, vitulum pro peccato, duos arietes, canistrum cum azymis :
3 Then cal the whole community together at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.'	3 et congregabis omnem cœtum ad ostium tabernaculi.
4 Moses did as Yahweh ordered; the community gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,	4 Fecit Moyses ut Dominus imperaverat. Congregataque omni turba ante fores tabernaculi,
5 and Moses said to them, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered to be done.'	5 ait : Iste est sermo, quem jussit Dominus fieri.
6 He made Aaron and his sons come forward and washed them with water.	6 Statimque obtulit Aaron et filios ejus. Cumque lavisset eos,
7 He then dressed him in the tunic, passed the waistband round his waist, vested him in the robe and putthe ephod on him. He then put the waistband of the ephod round his waist, fastening it to him.	7 vestivit pontificem subucula linea, accingens eum balteo, et induens eum tunica hyacinthina, et desuper humerale imposuit,
8 He put the breastplate on him, and placed the urim and thummim in it.	8 quod astringens cingulo aptavit rationali, in quo erat Doctrina et Veritas.
9 He put the turban on his head, and on the front of the turban, the golden flower; this was the symbol ofholy consecration, which Yahweh had prescribed to Moses.	9 Cidari quoque texit caput : et super eam, contra frontem, posuit laminam auream consecratam in sanctificatione, sicut præceperat ei Dominus.
10 Moses then took the anointing oil and anointed the Dwel ing and everything inside it, to consecratethem.	10 Tulit et unctionis oleum, quo linivit tabernaculum cum omni supellectili sua.
11 He sprinkled the altar seven times and anointed the altar and its accessories, the basin and its stand,to consecrate them.	11 Cumque sanctificans aspersisset altare septem vicibus, unxit illud, et omnia vasa ejus, labrumque cum basi sua sanctificavit oleo.
12 He then poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to consecrate him.	12 Quod fundens super caput Aaron, unxit eum, et consecravit :
13 Moses then made Aaron's sons come forward; he dressed them in tunics, passed the waistbandsround their waists and put on their head-dresses, as Yahweh had ordered him.	13 filios quoque ejus oblatos vestivit tunicis lineis, et cinxit balteis, imposuitque mitras, ut jusserat Dominus.
14 He then had the bull for the sacrifice for sin brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands onthe victim's head	14 Obtulit et vitulum pro peccato : cumque super caput ejus posuisset Aaron et filii ejus manus suas,
15 and Moses slaughtered it. He then took the blood and with his finger put some of it on the horns on thecorners of the altar to purify the altar. He then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar, which heconsecrated by performing the rite of expiation over it.	15 immolavit eum, hauriens sanguinem, et tincto digito, tetigit cornua altaris per gyrum : quo expiato et sanctificato, fudit reliquum sanguinem ad fundamenta ejus.
16 He then took all the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneys and their fat;and he burnt this on the altar,	16 Adipem vero qui erat super vitalia, et reticulum jecoris, duosque renunculos, cum arvinulis suis, adolevit super altare :
17 but the bul 's skin, its meat and its offal he burnt outside the camp, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	17 vitulum cum pelle, et carnibus, et fimo, cremans extra castra, sicut præceperat Dominus.
18 He then had the ram for the burnt offering brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on theram's head	18 Obtulit et arietem in holocaustum : super cujus caput cum imposuissent Aaron et filii ejus manus suas,
19 and Moses slaughtered it. He poured its blood al around the altar.	19 immolavit eum, et fudit sanguinem ejus per circuitum altaris.
20 He then quartered the ram and burned the head, the quarters and the fat.	20 Ipsumque arietem in frusta concidens, caput ejus, et artus, et adipem adolevit igni,
21 He then washed the entrails and shins, and burnt the whole ram on the altar, as a burnt offering,offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	21 lotis prius intestinis et pedibus : totumque simul arietem incendit super altare, eo quod esset holocaustum suavissimi odoris Domino, sicut præceperat ei.
22 He then had the other ram brought forward, the ram for the investiture sacrifice. Aaron and his sonslaid their hands on its head	22 Obtulit et arietem secundum in consecratione sacerdotum, posueruntque super caput ejus Aaron et filii ejus manus suas :
23 and Moses slaughtered it. He took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, on thethumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.	23 quem cum immolasset Moyses, sumens de sanguine ejus, tetigit extremum auriculæ dextræ Aaron, et pollicem manus ejus dextræ, similiter et pedis.
24 He then made Aaron's sons come forward and he put some of the blood on the lobes of their rightears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Next, Moses poured the rest of theblood al around the altar.	24 Obtulit et filios Aaron : cumque de sanguine arietis immolati tetigisset extremum auriculæ singulorum dextræ, et pollices manus ac pedis dextri, reliquum fudit super altare per circuitum :
25 He then took the fat: the tail, al the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneysand their fat, and the right thigh.	25 adipem vero, et caudam, omnemque pinguedinem quæ operit intestina, reticulumque jecoris, et duos renes cum adipibus suis et armo dextro separavit.
26 From the basket of unleavened bread placed before Yahweh, he took an unleavened cake, a cake ofbread made with oil, and a wafer; he placed these on the fat and the right thigh,	26 Tollens autem de canistro azymorum, quod erat coram Domino, panem absque fermento, et collyridam conspersam oleo, laganumque, posuit super adipes, et armum dextrum,
27 and put it al into Aaron's hands and those of his sons, and made the gesture of offering beforeYahweh.	27 tradens simul omnia Aaron et filiis ejus. Qui postquam levaverunt ea coram Domino,
28 Moses then took them away from them and burned them on the altar, with the burnt offering. This wasthe investiture sacrifice, offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh.	28 rursum suscepta de manibus eorum, adolevit super altare holocausti, eo quod consecrationis esset oblatio, in odorem suavitatis, sacrificii Domino.
29 Moses then took the forequarter and made the gesture of offering before Yahweh. This was the portionof the ram of investiture that reverted to Moses, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	29 Tulitque pectusculum, elevans illud coram Domino, de ariete consecrationis in partem suam, sicut præceperat ei Dominus.
30 Moses then took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkledAaron and his vestments, and his sons and their vestments, with it. In this way he consecrated Aaron and hisvestments and his sons and their vestments.	30 Assumensque unguentum, et sanguinem qui erat in altari, aspersit super Aaron et vestimenta ejus, et super filios illius ac vestes eorum.
31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, 'Cook the meat at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and eatit there, as also the bread of the investiture sacrifice stil in the basket of the investiture offerings, as I ordered,when I said, "Aaron and his sons must eat it."	31 Cumque sanctificasset eos in vestitu suo, præcepit eis, dicens : Coquite carnes ante fores tabernaculi, et ibi comedite eas ; panes quoque consecrationis edite, qui positi sunt in canistro, sicut præcepit mihi Dominus, dicens : Aaron et filii ejus comedent eos :
32 What remains of the meat and bread you wil burn.	32 quidquid autem reliquum fuerit de carne et panibus, ignis absumet.
33 For seven days you wil not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, until the time of your investitureis complete; for your investiture wil require seven days.	33 De ostio quoque tabernaculi non exibitis septem diebus, usque ad diem quo complebitur tempus consecrationis vestræ ; septem enim diebus finitur consecratio :
34 Yahweh has ordered us to do as we have done today to perform the rite of expiation for you;	34 sicut et impræsentiarum factum est, ut ritus sacrificii compleretur.
35 hence, for seven days, day and night, you wil remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting observingYahweh's ritual; do this, and you wil not incur death. For this was the order I received.'	35 Die ac nocte manebitis in tabernaculo observantes custodias Domini, ne moriamini : sic enim mihi præceptum est.
36 So Aaron and his sons did everything that Yahweh had ordered through Moses.	36 Feceruntque Aaron et filii ejus cuncta quæ locutus est Dominus per manum Moysi.
