Leviticus 8

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
2 'Take Aaron and with him his sons, the vestments, the anointing oil, the bul for the sacrifice for sin, thetwo rams and the basket of unleavened bread.	2 “ Tolle Aaron cum filiis suis, vestes eorum et unctionis oleum, vitulum pro peccato, duos arietes, canistrum cum azymis;
3 Then cal the whole community together at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.'	3 et congregabis omnem coetum ad ostium tabernaculi conventus ”.
4 Moses did as Yahweh ordered; the community gathered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,	4 Fecit Moyses, ut Dominus imperarat; congregatoque omni coetu ante fores tabernaculi conventus,
5 and Moses said to them, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered to be done.'	5 ait: “ Iste est sermo, quem iussit Dominus fieri ”.
6 He made Aaron and his sons come forward and washed them with water.	6 Statimque applicavit Aaron et filios eius. Cumque lavisset eos aqua,
7 He then dressed him in the tunic, passed the waistband round his waist, vested him in the robe and putthe ephod on him. He then put the waistband of the ephod round his waist, fastening it to him.	7 vestivit pontificem subucula linea accingens eum balteo et induens tunica hyacinthina et desuper ephod imposuit,
8 He put the breastplate on him, and placed the urim and thummim in it.	8 quod astrinxit cingulo ephod firmiter; et imposuit ei pectorale, in quo dedit Urim et Tummim.
9 He put the turban on his head, and on the front of the turban, the golden flower; this was the symbol ofholy consecration, which Yahweh had prescribed to Moses.	9 Cidari quoque texit caput et super eam contra frontem posuit laminam auream, diadema sanctum, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
10 Moses then took the anointing oil and anointed the Dwel ing and everything inside it, to consecratethem.	10 Tulit et unctionis oleum, quo levit habitaculum cum omni supellectili sua et sanctificavit ea.
11 He sprinkled the altar seven times and anointed the altar and its accessories, the basin and its stand,to consecrate them.	11 Cumque de eo aspersisset altare septem vicibus, unxit illud et omnia vasa eius labrumque cum basi sua sanctificavit oleo.
12 He then poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed him to consecrate him.	12 Quod fundens super caput Aaron, unxit eum et consecravit;
13 Moses then made Aaron's sons come forward; he dressed them in tunics, passed the waistbandsround their waists and put on their head-dresses, as Yahweh had ordered him.	13 filios quoque eius applicatos vestivit subuculis lineis et cinxit balteo imposuitque mitras, ut iusserat Dominus Moysi.
14 He then had the bull for the sacrifice for sin brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands onthe victim's head	14 Adduxit et vitulum pro peccato; cumque super caput eius posuissent Aaron et filii eius manus suas,
15 and Moses slaughtered it. He then took the blood and with his finger put some of it on the horns on thecorners of the altar to purify the altar. He then poured the rest of the blood at the foot of the altar, which heconsecrated by performing the rite of expiation over it.	15 immolavit eum; et hauriens Moyses sanguinem tincto digito tetigit cornua altaris per gyrum et mundavit illud; fuditque reliquum sanguinem ad fundamenta eius et sanctificavit illud expiando.
16 He then took all the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneys and their fat;and he burnt this on the altar,	16 Adipem autem, qui erat super vitalia, et reticulum iecoris duosque renunculos cum arvinulis suis adolevit super altare;
17 but the bul 's skin, its meat and its offal he burnt outside the camp, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	17 vitulum cum pelle, carnibus et fimo cremans extra castra, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
18 He then had the ram for the burnt offering brought forward. Aaron and his sons laid their hands on theram's head	18 Attulit et arietem in holocaustum, super cuius caput cum imposuissent Aaron et filii eius manus suas,
19 and Moses slaughtered it. He poured its blood al around the altar.	19 immolavit eum et fudit sanguinem eius per altaris circuitum.
20 He then quartered the ram and burned the head, the quarters and the fat.	20 Ipsumque arietem in frusta concidens, caput eius et artus et adipem adolevit igni;
21 He then washed the entrails and shins, and burnt the whole ram on the altar, as a burnt offering,offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	21 lotis prius intestinis et pedibus, totumque simul arietem adolevit super altare, eo quod esset holocaustum suavissimi odoris, incensum Domino, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
22 He then had the other ram brought forward, the ram for the investiture sacrifice. Aaron and his sonslaid their hands on its head	22 Attulit et arietem secundum in consecrationem sacerdotum; posueruntque super caput illius Aaron et filii eius manus suas.
23 and Moses slaughtered it. He took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron's right ear, on thethumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.	23 Quem cum immolasset Moyses, sumens de sanguine tetigit extremum auriculae dextrae Aaron et pollicem manus eius dextrae, similiter et pedis.
24 He then made Aaron's sons come forward and he put some of the blood on the lobes of their rightears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Next, Moses poured the rest of theblood al around the altar.	24 Applicavit et filios Aaron; cumque de sanguine arietis immolati tetigisset extremum auriculae singulorum dextrae et pollices manus ac pedis dextri, reliquum fudit super altare per circuitum.
25 He then took the fat: the tail, al the fat covering the entrails, the mass of fat over the liver, both kidneysand their fat, and the right thigh.	25 Tulitque adipem et caudam omnemque pinguedinem, quae operit intestina reticulumque iecoris, et duos renes cum adipibus suis et armo dextro.
26 From the basket of unleavened bread placed before Yahweh, he took an unleavened cake, a cake ofbread made with oil, and a wafer; he placed these on the fat and the right thigh,	26 Tollens autem de canistro azymorum, quod erat coram Domino, panem absque fermento et collyridam conspersam oleo laganumque posuit super adipes et armum dextrum,
27 and put it al into Aaron's hands and those of his sons, and made the gesture of offering beforeYahweh.	27 tradens simul omnia super manus Aaron et filiorum eius. Qui, postquam levaverunt ea coram Domino,
28 Moses then took them away from them and burned them on the altar, with the burnt offering. This wasthe investiture sacrifice, offered to be a pleasing smel , as food burnt for Yahweh.	28 rursum suscepta de manibus eorum adolevit in altari super holocausto, eo quod illa essent consecrationis oblatio, in odorem suavitatis: incensum erat Domino.
29 Moses then took the forequarter and made the gesture of offering before Yahweh. This was the portionof the ram of investiture that reverted to Moses, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	29 Tulit et pectusculum elevans illud coram Domino de ariete consecrationis in partem suam, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
30 Moses then took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkledAaron and his vestments, and his sons and their vestments, with it. In this way he consecrated Aaron and hisvestments and his sons and their vestments.	30 Assumensque de unguento et sanguine, qui erat in altari, aspersit super Aaron et vestimenta eius et super filios illius ac vestes eorum.
31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, 'Cook the meat at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, and eatit there, as also the bread of the investiture sacrifice stil in the basket of the investiture offerings, as I ordered,when I said, "Aaron and his sons must eat it."	31 Cumque sanctificasset eos in vestitu suo, praecepit eis dicens: “ Coquite carnes ante fores tabernaculi et ibi comedite eas; panes quoque consecrationis edite, qui positi sunt in canistro, sicut mihi praeceptum est: "Aaron et filii eius comedent eos;
32 What remains of the meat and bread you wil burn.	32 quidquid autem reliquum fuerit de carne et panibus, ignis absumet".
33 For seven days you wil not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, until the time of your investitureis complete; for your investiture wil require seven days.	33 De ostio quoque tabernaculi conventus non exibitis septem diebus usque ad diem, quo complebitur tempus consecrationis vestrae; septem enim diebus finitur consecratio.
34 Yahweh has ordered us to do as we have done today to perform the rite of expiation for you;	34 Sicut et impraesentiarum factum est, praecepit Dominus, ut fieret in expiationem eorum.
35 hence, for seven days, day and night, you wil remain at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting observingYahweh's ritual; do this, and you wil not incur death. For this was the order I received.'	35 Die ac nocte manebitis in ostio tabernaculi conventus observantes observationem Domini, ne moriamini: sic enim mihi praeceptum est ”.
36 So Aaron and his sons did everything that Yahweh had ordered through Moses.	36 Feceruntque Aaron et filii eius cuncta, quae locutus est Dominus per manum Moysi.
