Leviticus 5

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 ' "If someone sins in any of these fol owing cases: "He should have come forward to give evidence whenhe heard the formal adjuration, having seen the incident or known the facts; but he has not spoken out, and sobears the consequences of his guilt;
2 "or someone touches something unclean, whatever it may be -- the dead body of an unclean animal,wild or tame, or of one of the unclean reptiles -- and without realising it becomes unclean, he becomesanswerable for it;	2 ou bien quelqu'un touche à une chose impure, quelle qu'elle soit, cadavre de bête impure, d'animaldomestique impur, de bestiole impure, et à son insu il devient impur et responsable;
3 "or he touches some human uncleanness, whatever it may be, contact with which makes him unclean;he does not notice it, then, realising it later, he becomes answerable for it;	3 ou bien il touche à une souillure humaine, quelle qu'elle soit, dont le contact rend impur; il ne s'enaperçoit pas, puis, venant à l'apprendre, il en devient responsable;
4 "or someone lets slip an oath to do something either evil or good, in any of those matters on whichsomeone may let slip an oath; he does not notice it, then, realising it later, he becomes answerable for it;	4 ou bien un individu laisse échapper un serment défavorable ou favorable, en toute matière où unhomme peut jurer inconsidérément; il ne s'en aperçoit pas, puis, venant à l'apprendre, il en devient responsable;
5 "if he is answerable in any of those cases, he wil have to confess the sin committed.	5 s'il est responsable en l'un de ces cas, il aura à confesser le péché commis,
6 As a sacrifice of reparation for the sin committed, he wil bring Yahweh a female from the flock (sheep orgoat) as a sacrifice for sin; and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him to free him from his sin.	6 il amènera à Yahvé à titre de sacrifice de réparation pour le péché commis une femelle de petitbétail (brebis ou chèvre) en sacrifice pour le péché; et le prêtre fera sur lui le rite d'expiation qui le délivrera deson péché.
7 "If he cannot afford an animal from the flock as a sacrifice of reparation for the sin he has committed, hewil bring Yahweh two turtledoves or two young pigeons -- one as a sacrifice for sin and the other as a burntoffering.	7 S'il n'a pas les moyens de se procurer une tête de petit bétail, il amènera à Yahvé en sacrifice deréparation pour le péché qu'il a commis deux tourterelles ou deux pigeons, l'un en sacrifice pour le péché etl'autre en holocauste.
8 He wil bring them to the priest who wil first offer the one intended for the sacrifice for sin. The priest wilwring its neck but not remove the head.	8 Il les amènera au prêtre, qui offrira d'abord celui qui est destiné au sacrifice pour le péché. Enpinçant le cou le prêtre lui rompra la nuque sans détacher la tête.
9 He wil sprinkle the side of the altar with the victim's blood, and then squeeze out the rest of the blood atthe foot of the altar. This is a sacrifice for sin.	9 Avec le sang de la victime il aspergera la paroi de l'autel, puis le reste du sang sera exprimé à labase de l'autel. C'est un sacrifice pour le péché.
10 He will then offer the other bird as a burnt offering according to the ritual. This is how the priest mustperform the rite of expiation for the person for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.	10 Quant à l'autre oiseau, il en fera un holocauste suivant la règle. Le prêtre fera ainsi sur l'hommele rite d'expiation pour le péché qu'il a commis, et il lui sera pardonné.
11 "If he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he will bring a tenth of an ephah of wheatenflour as an offering for the sin committed; he must not mix oil with it or put incense on it, since this is a sacrificefor sin.	11 S'il n'a pas les moyens de se procurer deux tourterelles ou deux pigeons, il amènera à titred'offrande pour le péché commis un dixième de mesure de fleur de farine; il n'y mettra pas d'huile et n'ydéposera pas d'encens, car c'est un sacrifice pour le péché.
12 He will bring it to the priest, who wil take a handful of it as a memorial, and burn this on the altar inaddition to the offerings of food burnt for Yahweh. This is a sacrifice for sin.	12 Il l'apportera au prêtre et celui-ci en prendra une pleine poignée en mémorial qu'il fera fumer àl'autel en plus des mets consumés pour Yahvé. C'est un sacrifice pour le péché.
13 This is how the priest must perform the rite of expiation for the person for the sin he has committed inany of those cases, and he wil be forgiven. In this case, the priest has the same rights as in the case of a cerealoffering." '	13 Le prêtre fera ainsi sur l'homme le rite d'expiation pour le péché qu'il a commis en l'un de cescas, et il sera pardonné. Le prêtre a dans ce cas les mêmes droits que pour l'oblation.
14 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	14 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
15 'If someone is unfaithful and sins inadvertently by infringing Yahweh's sacred rights, as a sacrifice ofreparation he must bring Yahweh an unblemished ram from his flock, the value of which wil be decided by youin silver shekels according to the rate of the sanctuary-shekel.	15 Si quelqu'un commet une fraude et pèche par inadvertance en retranchant sur les droits sacrés deYahvé, il amènera à Yahvé en sacrifice de réparation un bélier sans défaut de son troupeau, à estimer en siclesd'argent au taux du sicle du sanctuaire.
16 He will make amends for what his sin subtracted from the sacred rights, adding one-fifth to the value,and give it to the priest. The priest wil then perform the rite of expiation for him with the ram for the sacrifice ofreparation and he wil be forgiven.	16 Il acquittera ce que son péché aura retranché au droit sacré, en en majorant la valeur d'uncinquième, et le remettra au prêtre. Celui-ci fera sur lui le rite d'expiation avec le bélier du sacrifice deréparation, et il lui sera pardonné.
17 'If someone sins and without realising it does one of the things forbidden by Yahweh'scommandments, he will answer for it and bear the consequences of his guilt.	17 Si quelqu'un pèche et fait sans s'en apercevoir l'une des choses interdites par les commandementsde Yahvé, il sera responsable et portera le poids de sa faute.
18 As a sacrifice of reparation he must bring the priest an unblemished ram from his flock to the valuewhich you decide, and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him for the oversight unwittingly committed,and he wil be forgiven.	18 Il amènera au prêtre à titre de sacrifice de réparation un bélier sans défaut de son troupeau, sujetà estimation. Le prêtre fera sur lui le rite d'expiation pour l'inadvertance commise sans le savoir, et il lui serapardonné.
19 This is a sacrifice of reparation; the man was certainly answerable to Yahweh.'	19 C'est un sacrifice de réparation, cet homme était certainement responsable envers Yahvé.
20 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	20 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
21 'If someone sins and is unfaithful against Yahweh by deceiving his fel ow-countryman over a deposit ora security, or by withholding something due to him or by exploiting him;	21 Si quelqu'un pèche et commet une fraude envers Yahvé en trompant son compatriote au sujetd'un dépôt, d'une garde ou d'un retrait d'objet, ou s'il exploite ce compatriote,
22 'or if he finds lost property and denies it; 'or if he perjures himself about anything that a human beingmay do criminal y in such matters;	22 ou s'il trouve un objet perdu et le nie, ou s'il prête un faux serment à propos de n'importe quelpéché que peut commettre un homme,
23 'if he sins and so becomes answerable, he must restore what he has taken or demanded in excess:the deposit confided to him, the lost property that he has found,	23 s'il pèche et devient ainsi responsable, il devra restituer ce qu'il a retiré ou exigé en trop: le dépôtqui lui fut confié, l'objet perdu qu'il a trouvé,
24 or any object about which he has perjured himself. He will add one-fifth to the principal and pay thewhole to the person who held the property rights on the day when he incurred the guilt.	24 ou tout objet au sujet duquel il a prêté un faux serment. En le majorant d'un cinquième, il verserace capital au détenteur de l'objet au jour où lui-même est devenu responsable.
25 He will then bring Yahweh an unblemished ram from his flock to the value which you decide, to thepriest as a sacrifice of reparation,	25 Puis il amènera à Yahvé comme sacrifice de réparation un bélier sans défaut de son troupeau; onl'estimera à la valeur versée au prêtre pour un sacrifice de réparation.
26 and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh and he will be forgiven, whateverthe act by which he incurred guilt.'	26 Celui-ci fera sur lui le rite d'expiation devant Yahvé, et il lui sera pardonné, quel que soit l'actequi a entraîné sa culpabilité.
