Leviticus 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 ' "If someone sins in any of these fol owing cases: "He should have come forward to give evidence whenhe heard the formal adjuration, having seen the incident or known the facts; but he has not spoken out, and sobears the consequences of his guilt;	1 Si una persona peca por cualquiera de estos motivos: Cuando oye la fórmula imprecatoria del juez, se niega a prestar declaración –pudiendo atestiguar, porque ha presenciado el hecho o tiene algún conocimiento de él– y por eso carga sobre sí una culpa;
2 "or someone touches something unclean, whatever it may be -- the dead body of an unclean animal,wild or tame, or of one of the unclean reptiles -- and without realising it becomes unclean, he becomesanswerable for it;	2 o bien, toca alguna cosa impura –ya sea el cadáver de una bestia salvaje impura, de un animal doméstico impuro, o de un reptil impuro– volviéndose, sin darse cuenta, impuro o culpable;
3 "or he touches some human uncleanness, whatever it may be, contact with which makes him unclean;he does not notice it, then, realising it later, he becomes answerable for it;	3 o bien, sin darse cuenta, toca a una persona impura –cualquiera sea el motivo de su estado de impureza– y al tener conocimiento de ello, se vuelve culpable;
4 "or someone lets slip an oath to do something either evil or good, in any of those matters on whichsomeone may let slip an oath; he does not notice it, then, realising it later, he becomes answerable for it;	4 o bien, sin darse cuenta, pronuncia un juramento desfavorable o favorable –en cualquiera de esas circunstancias en que los hombres suelen jurar irreflexivamente– y al tener conocimiento de ello, se reconoce culpable;
5 "if he is answerable in any of those cases, he wil have to confess the sin committed.	5 si alguien se hace culpable por alguno de estos motivos, deberá confesar aquello en que ha pecado.
6 As a sacrifice of reparation for the sin committed, he wil bring Yahweh a female from the flock (sheep orgoat) as a sacrifice for sin; and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him to free him from his sin.	6 Además presentará al Señor, en reparación por el pecado que cometió, una hembra del ganado menor –cordera o cabra– como sacrificio por el pecado; y el sacerdote practicará en favor de esa persona el rito de expiación por su pecado.
7 "If he cannot afford an animal from the flock as a sacrifice of reparation for the sin he has committed, hewil bring Yahweh two turtledoves or two young pigeons -- one as a sacrifice for sin and the other as a burntoffering.	7 Pero si no dispone de medios suficientes para procurarse una oveja, presentará al Señor, en reparación por el pecado cometido, dos torcazas o dos pichones de paloma, uno para un sacrificio por el pecado y otro para un holocausto.
8 He wil bring them to the priest who wil first offer the one intended for the sacrifice for sin. The priest wilwring its neck but not remove the head.	8 Los llevará al sacerdote, que ofrecerá en primer lugar la víctima destinada al sacrificio por el pecado. Apretará con las uñas el cuello del animal, pero no le arrancará la cabeza;
9 He wil sprinkle the side of the altar with the victim's blood, and then squeeze out the rest of the blood atthe foot of the altar. This is a sacrifice for sin.	9 luego rociará la pared del altar con un poco de sangre, y el resto lo escurrirá sobre la base del altar; es un sacrificio por el pecado.
10 He will then offer the other bird as a burnt offering according to the ritual. This is how the priest mustperform the rite of expiation for the person for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.	10 Después hará con la segunda paloma un holocausto conforme al ritual. De esta manera, el sacerdote practicará en favor de esa persona el rito de expiación por el pecado que cometió, y así será perdonada.
11 "If he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he will bring a tenth of an ephah of wheatenflour as an offering for the sin committed; he must not mix oil with it or put incense on it, since this is a sacrificefor sin.	11 Y si tampoco dispone de medios suficientes para procurarse las dos torcazas o los dos pichones de paloma, llevará como ofrenda por su pecado la décima parte de una medida de harina de la mejor calidad, pero sin añadir aceite ni poner incienso sobre ella, porque es un sacrificio por el pecado.
12 He will bring it to the priest, who wil take a handful of it as a memorial, and burn this on the altar inaddition to the offerings of food burnt for Yahweh. This is a sacrifice for sin.	12 La llevará al sacerdote, el cual tomará un puñado como memorial, y lo hará arder el altar junto con las ofrendas que se queman para el Señor: es un sacrificio por el pecado.
13 This is how the priest must perform the rite of expiation for the person for the sin he has committed inany of those cases, and he wil be forgiven. In this case, the priest has the same rights as in the case of a cerealoffering." '	13 De esta manera, el sacerdote practicará el rito de expiación en favor de ese hombre, por el pecado que cometió en cualquiera de aquellos casos, y así será perdonado. El sacerdote recibirá lo mismo que recibe cuando se hace una oblación.
14 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	14 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
15 'If someone is unfaithful and sins inadvertently by infringing Yahweh's sacred rights, as a sacrifice ofreparation he must bring Yahweh an unblemished ram from his flock, the value of which wil be decided by youin silver shekels according to the rate of the sanctuary-shekel.	15 Si una persona defrauda al Señor, pecando inadvertidamente contra sus derechos sagrados, le presentará como ofrenda de reparación un carnero del rebaño, que no tenga defecto, o su equivalente en siclos de plata, según la tasa del Santuario.
16 He will make amends for what his sin subtracted from the sacred rights, adding one-fifth to the value,and give it to the priest. The priest wil then perform the rite of expiation for him with the ram for the sacrifice ofreparation and he wil be forgiven.	16 Así reparará el derecho sagrado contra el que pecó, añadiendo un quinto más, que entregará al sacerdote. Este practicará el rito de expiación en favor de esa persona, con el carnero del sacrificio de reparación, y así será perdonada.
17 'If someone sins and without realising it does one of the things forbidden by Yahweh'scommandments, he will answer for it and bear the consequences of his guilt.	17 Si una persona peca, cometiendo sin darse cuenta alguna falta contra las prohibiciones contenidas en los mandamientos del Señor, y se reconoce culpable, deberá cargar con su culpa.
18 As a sacrifice of reparation he must bring the priest an unblemished ram from his flock to the valuewhich you decide, and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him for the oversight unwittingly committed,and he wil be forgiven.	18 Presentará al sacerdote un carnero del rebaño, que no tenga ningún defecto, o su equivalente en dinero, como ofrenda de reparación. Entonces el sacerdote practicará el rito de expiación en favor de esa persona, por la falta que cometió inadvertidamente, y así será perdonada:
19 This is a sacrifice of reparation; the man was certainly answerable to Yahweh.'	19 es un sacrificio de reparación, porque era realmente culpable delante del Señor.
20 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	20 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
21 'If someone sins and is unfaithful against Yahweh by deceiving his fel ow-countryman over a deposit ora security, or by withholding something due to him or by exploiting him;	21 Si una persona peca y defrauda al Señor, por haber engañado a su prójimo respecto de un objeto que el fue confiado en depósito o puesto bajo su cuidado, o bien por haber estafado a su prójimo o haberlo violentado;
22 'or if he finds lost property and denies it; 'or if he perjures himself about anything that a human beingmay do criminal y in such matters;	22 o si encuentra un objeto perdido, y lo niega, o si jura en falso respecto de una de esas cosas por las que un hombre puede incurrir en pecado;
23 'if he sins and so becomes answerable, he must restore what he has taken or demanded in excess:the deposit confided to him, the lost property that he has found,	23 si alguien peca y se hace culpable por cualquiera de estos motivos, deberá restituir lo que haya adquirido por medio de la estafa o la extorsión, así como también el depósito que se le confió, el objeto perdido que encontró,
24 or any object about which he has perjured himself. He will add one-fifth to the principal and pay thewhole to the person who held the property rights on the day when he incurred the guilt.	24 o todo aquello sobre lo cual juró en falso. Los restituirá íntegramente, añadiendo un quinto más, que entregará al verdadero propietario en el momento de reparar su falta.
25 He will then bring Yahweh an unblemished ram from his flock to the value which you decide, to thepriest as a sacrifice of reparation,	25 Además, presentará al sacerdote, a título de reparación, un carnero sin ningún defecto, o su equivalente en dinero, para ofrecerlo al Señor como sacrificio de reparación.
26 and the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh and he will be forgiven, whateverthe act by which he incurred guilt.'	26 De esta manera, el sacerdote practicará el rito de expiación delante del Señor en favor de esa persona, y así será perdonada, cualquiera sea la falta de la que se haya hecho culpable.
