Isaiah 9

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; on the inhabitants of a country in shadowdark as death light has blazed forth.	1 Perciocchè colei che fu afflitta, non sarà più ravvolta in tenebre. Come al tempo di prima Iddio avvilì il paese di Zabulon, e il paese di Neftali, così, nel tempo posteriore, egli riempirà di gloria il paese dalla parte del mare, di là dal Giordano, la Galilea de’ Gentili.
2 You have enlarged the nation, you have increased its joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice atharvest time, as they exult when they are dividing the spoils.	2 IL popolo che camminava nelle tenebre, ha veduta una gran luce; la luce è risplenduta a quelli che abitavano nella terra dell’ombra della morte.
3 For the yoke that weighed on it, the bar across its shoulders, the rod of its oppressor, these you havebroken as on the day of Midian.	3 Tu hai moltiplicata la nazione, tu gli hai accresciuta l’allegrezza; essi si son rallegrati nel tuo cospetto, come l’uomo si rallegra nella ricolta, come altri festeggia quando si spartiscono le spoglie.
4 For al the footgear clanking over the ground and al the clothing rolled in blood, wil be burnt, wil be foodfor the flames.	4 Perciocchè tu hai spezzato il giogo del quale egli era caricato, e la verga con la quale gli erano battute le spalle, e il bastone di chi lo tiranneggiava, come al giorno di Madian.
5 For a son has been born for us, a son has been given to us, and dominion has been laid on hisshoulders; and this is the name he has been given, 'Wonder-Counsel or, Mighty-God, Eternal-Father, Prince-of-Peace'	5 Conciossiachè ogni saccheggiamento di saccheggiatori sia con istrepito e tumulto; e i vestimenti son voltolati nel sangue; poi sono arsi, e divengon pastura del fuoco.
6 to extend his dominion in boundless peace, over the throne of David and over his kingdom to make itsecure and sustain it in fair judgement and integrity. From this time onwards and for ever, the jealous love ofYahweh Sabaoth wil do this.	6 Perciocchè il Fanciullo ci è nato, il Figliuolo ci è stato dato; e l’imperio è stato posto sopra le sue spalle; e il suo Nome sarà chiamato: L’Ammirabile, il Consigliere, l’Iddio forte, il Padre dell’eternità, il Principe della pace.
7 The Lord has launched a word at Jacob and it has fal en on Israel;	7 Vi sarà senza fine accrescimento d’imperio e di pace, sopra il trono di Davide, e sopra il suo regno; per istabilirlo, e per fermarlo in giudicio, e in giustizia, da ora fino in eterno. La gelosia del Signor degli eserciti farà questo
8 and the people will al soon know it, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in the pride of theirarrogant hearts,	8 IL Signore ha mandata una parola contro a Giacobbe, ed ella caderà sopra Israele.
9 'The bricks have fal en down but we shal rebuild with dressed stone; the sycamores have been fel edbut we shal replace them with cedars.'	9 E tutto il popolo la saprà; Efraim, e gli abitanti di Samaria, i quali dicono con superbia, e con grandigia di cuore;
10 But, against them, Yahweh has raised their foe Razon, he has whipped up their enemies,	10 I mattoni son caduti, ma noi edificheremo di pietre pulite; i sicomori sono stati tagliati, ma noi li muteremo in cedri.
11 Aram to the east, Philistines to the west, to devour Israel with gaping jaws. After al this, his anger is notspent. No, his hand is still raised!	11 Quando adunque il Signore avrà innalzati i nemici di Resin sopra lui, farà anche muovere alla mescolata i nemici d’Israele:
12 But the people would not come back to him who struck them, they would not seek out YahwehSabaoth;	12 i Siri dall’Oriente, i Filistei dall’Occidente; ed essi divoreranno Israele a piena bocca. Per tutto ciò la sua ira non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano sarà ancora stesa.
13 hence Yahweh has topped and tailed Israel, cutting off palm and reed in a single day.	13 E perchè il popolo non si sarà convertito a colui che lo percuote, e non avrà ricercato il Signor degli eserciti,
14 (The 'top' is the elder and the man of rank; the 'tail' is the prophet teaching lies.)	14 il Signore riciderà in un medesimo giorno da Israele il capo e la coda, il ramo ed il giunco.
15 This people's leaders have led them astray, and those who are led by them are swal owed up.	15 L’anziano e l’uomo d’autorità sono il capo; e il profeta che insegna menzogna è la coda.
16 Hence the Lord wil no longer take delight in their young people, or pity on their orphans and widows,since al of them are godless and evil, and everything they say is madness. After al this, his anger is not spent.No, his hand is still raised!	16 E quelli che predicano beato questo popolo saranno seduttori, e quelli d’infra esso che si persuadono d’esser beati saranno distrutti.
17 Yes, wickedness has been burning like a fire, devouring bramble and thorn-bush, setting the forestthickets ablaze -- up they go in bil owing smoke!	17 Perciò, il Signore non prenderà alcun diletto ne’ giovani di esso, e non avrà pietà de’ suoi orfani, nè delle sue vedove; perchè tutti son profani e maligni; ed ogni bocca parla cose vituperose. Per tutto ciò l’ira sua non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano sarà ancora stesa.
18 The country has been set on fire by the fury of Yahweh Sabaoth, and the people are like food for theflames. No one spares a thought for his brother.	18 Perciocchè l’empietà arderà come un fuoco, divorerà le vepri ed i pruni, e si accenderà negli alberi più folti del bosco, e quelli se ne andranno a viluppi, come si alza il fumo.
19 They have sliced to the right and are stil hungry, they have eaten to the left and are not satisfied; eachdevours the flesh of his own arm.	19 Per l’indegnazione del Signor degli eserciti la terra scurerà, e il popolo sarà come l’esca del fuoco; l’uomo non risparmierà il suo fratello;
20 Manasseh devours Ephraim, Ephraim Manasseh, together they turn against Judah. After al this, hisanger is not spent. No, his hand is still raised!	20 anzi strapperà a destra, e pure avrà fame; e divorerà a sinistra, e pur non sarà saziato; ciascuno mangerà la carne del suo braccio.
	21 Manasse divorerà Efraim, ed Efraim Manasse; benchè sieno insieme contro a Giuda. Per tutto ciò l’ira sua non si racqueterà; anzi la sua mano sarà ancora stesa
