Isaiah 41

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Coasts and islands, fal silent before me, and let the peoples renew their strength, let them comeforward and speak; let us assemble for judgement.	1 Dinanzi a me tacciano le isole, e le nazioni rinnovellino le forze, si accostino, e allora parlino: andiamo insieme al giudizio.
2 'Who has raised from the east him whom saving justice summons in its train, him to whom Yahwehdelivers up the nations and subjects kings, him who reduces them to dust with his sword, and to driven stubblewith his bow,	2 Chi suscitò dall'oriente il giusto, chi lo chiamò dietro di sè? Egli metterà dinanzi a lui le nazioni, e lo farà padrone dei re, divenuti come polvere dinanzi alla sua spada, come paglia portata dal vento dinanzi al suo arco.
3 him who pursues them and advances unhindered, his feet scarcely touching the road?	3 Egli l'incalzerà e passerà in pace, senza fare apparire l'orma dei suoi piedi.
4 Who has acted thus, who has done this? He who cal s each generation from the beginning: I, Yahweh,who am the first and til the last I shal still be there.'	4 Chi ha fatte queste cose? Chi l'ha compite? Chi chiama dal principio le generazioni? Io, il Signore, il primo, e sono anche l'ultimo.
5 The coasts and islands have seen and taken fright, the remotest parts of earth are trembling: they areapproaching, they are here!	5 Le isole videro e s'impaurirono, i confini del mondo rimasero stupefatti, si avvicinarono, si accostarono.
6 People help one another, they say to each other, 'Take heart!'	6 Ciascuno aiuterà il suo vicino, e dirà al suo fratello: « Fatti coraggio ».
7 The woodworker encourages the smelter, the polisher encourages the hammerer, saying of thesoldering, 'It is sound'; and he fastens it with nails to keep it steady.	7 Chi lavorava il bronzo, battendolo col martello, incoraggiava quello che batteva l'incudine, dicendo: « La saldatura è buona »; poi assicurava (l'idolo) con chiodi, perchè non si movesse.
8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham my friend,	8 Ma tu, Israele, mio servo, Giacobbe, mio eletto, stirpe del mio amico Abramo,
9 whom I have taken to myself, from the remotest parts of the earth and summoned from countries faraway, to whom I have said, 'You are my servant, I have chosen you, I have not rejected you,'	9 nel quale io ti presi dall'estremità della terra, ti chiamai dalla sua lontana patria, e ti dissi: Tu sei il mio servo: io ti ho scelto, e non ti ho scacciato.
10 do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed, for I am your God. I give you strength, truly Ihelp you, truly I hold you firm with my saving right hand.	10 Non temere, perchè io son con te, non abbassare (lo sguardo), perchè io sono il tuo Dio: ti ho reso forte, ti ho aiutato, e ti sostiene la destra del mio Giusto.
11 Look, al those who rage against you wil be put to shame and humiliated; those who picked quarrelswith you will be reduced to nothing and wil perish.	11 Ecco che saranno confusi e svergognati tutti quelli che ti fan guerra, saranno come annientati e periranno quelli che son contro di te.
12 You wil look for them but wil not find them, those who used to fight you; they wil be destroyed andbrought to nothing, those who made war on you.	12 Li cercherai senza trovarli i tuoi avversari: saranno come annientati, distrutti gli uomini che ti fan guerra;
13 For I, Yahweh, your God, I grasp you by your right hand; I tel you, 'Do not be afraid, I shal help you.'	13 perché sono io, il Signore Dio tuo, che ti prendo per la mano, e ti dico: « Non temere »: son venuto io in tuo soccorso.
14 Do not be afraid, Jacob, you worm! You little handful of Israel! I shall help you, declares Yahweh; yourredeemer is the Holy One of Israel.	14 Non temere, o vermicciòlo di Giacobbe, o morti d'Israele: io son venuto in tuo soccorso — dice il Signore — il tuo redentore è il santo d'Israele.
15 Look, I am making you into a threshing-sledge, new, with double teeth; you wil thresh and beat themountains to dust and reduce the hills to straw.	15 Ecco io ti ho fatto come un carro trebbiatore, nuovo, armato di denti di ferro, e trebbierai e ridurrai in briccioli i monti, e come in polvere le colline.
16 You wil winnow them and the wind wil carry them off, the gale will scatter them; whereas you wilrejoice in Yahweh, will glory in the Holy One of Israel.	16 Le darai al vento, e il vento le porterà via, il turbine le disperderà, e tu esulterai nel Signore, ti rallegrerai nel Santo d'Israele.
17 The oppressed and needy search for water, and there is none, their tongue is parched with thirst. I,Yahweh, shal answer them, I, the God of Israel, shal not abandon them.	17 Gl'indigenti, i poveri cercano l'acqua e non la trovano; la loro lingua è secca dalla sete; io, il Signore, li esaudirò, io, il Dio d'Israele, non li lascerò in abbandono.
18 I shal open up rivers on barren heights and water-holes down in the ravines; I shall turn the desertinto a lake and dry ground into springs of water.	18 Farò scaturire nel declivio dei colli i fiumi, e in mezzo ai campi le fontane, cangerò il deserto in stagni d'acqua, e la terra disabitata sarà irrigata da ruscelli.
19 I shal plant the desert with cedar trees, acacias, myrtles and olives; in the wastelands I shal putcypress trees, plane trees and box trees side by side;	19 Farò venire nella solitudine il cedro, l'acacia, il mirto, l'ulivo; metterò nel deserto l'abete, l'olmo e il bossolo insieme,
20 so that people may see and know, so that they may all observe and understand that the hand ofYahweh has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.	20 affinchè vedano e sappiano e ripensino e intendano nel medesimo tempo che questa cosa l'ha fatta la mano del Signore, l'ha creata il Santo d'Israele.
21 'Present your case,' says Yahweh, 'Produce your arguments,' says Jacob's king.	21 Presentate la vostra causa — dice il Signore — portate le vostre ragioni, se per caso ne avete — dice il re di Giacobbe. —
22 'Let them produce and reveal to us what is going to happen. What happened in the past? Reveal it sothat we can consider it and know what the outcome wil be. Or tel us about the future,	22 S'accostino e ci annunzino tutte le cose che avverranno. Narrate ciò che fu in antico, e ci applicheremo la mente, e sapremo dove andranno a finire; fateci indicare le cose future.
23 reveal what is to happen next, and then we shal know that you are gods. At least, do something, be itgood or bad, so that we may feel alarm and fear.	23 Annunziateci le cose che accadranno in avvenire, e allora riconosceremo che voi siete dèi; fatelo, o bene o male, se potete, e noi parleremo e ci vedremo insieme.
24 Look, you are less than nothingness, and what you do is less than nothing; to choose you is anoutrage.'	24 Ecco, voi siete dal niente, e un niente è l'opera vostra: è un abominio chi vi elegge.
25 I have raised him from the north and he has come, from the east he has been summoned by name.He tramples on rulers like mud, like a potter treading clay.	25 L'ho suscitato dal settentrione, e verrà, dall'oriente invocherà il mio nome, e calpesterà i principi come fango, come il vasaio pesta l'argilla.
26 Who revealed this from the beginning for us to know, and in the past for us to say, 'That is right'? Noone in fact revealed it, no one proclaimed it, no one has heard you speak.	26 Chi l'ha annunziato da principio per farcelo sapere? dai tempi antichi, per farci dire: « Tu sei giusto? » No, nessuno annunzia, nessuno predice, nessuno ascolta le vostre parole.
27 First-fruits of Zion, look, here they come! I send a messenger to Jerusalem,	27 Il primo dirà a Sion: « Eccoli son qui ». Ed io manderò a Gerusalemme il messaggero della lieta novella.
28 and I look -- no one, not a single counsel or among them who, if I asked, could give an answer.	28 E osservai, e non c'era nessuno, fra essi non c'era un consigliere, uno che interrogato rispondesse una parola.
29 Taken altogether they are nothingness, what they do is nothing, their statues, wind and emptiness.	29 E cco son tutti iniqui, la loro opera è vana, vento e niente sono i loro simulacri.
