Isaiah 41

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Coasts and islands, fal silent before me, and let the peoples renew their strength, let them comeforward and speak; let us assemble for judgement.	1 ¡Silencio delante de mí, costas lejanas, y que los pueblos renueven su fuerza! ¡Que se acerquen y entonces hablen! Comparezcamos juntos a juicio:
2 'Who has raised from the east him whom saving justice summons in its train, him to whom Yahwehdelivers up the nations and subjects kings, him who reduces them to dust with his sword, and to driven stubblewith his bow,	2 ¿Quién suscitó desde el Oriente a aquel a quien la victoria le sale al paso? ¿Quién le entrega las naciones y le somete a los reyes? Su espada los reduce a polvo, su arco, a paja que se avienta.
3 him who pursues them and advances unhindered, his feet scarcely touching the road?	3 El los persigue y pasa sano y salvo, sin tocar el camino con sus pies.
4 Who has acted thus, who has done this? He who cal s each generation from the beginning: I, Yahweh,who am the first and til the last I shal still be there.'	4 ¿Quién obró así, quién hizo esto? El que llama a las generaciones desde el principio, yo, el Señor, el Primero, y que seré el mismo al final.
5 The coasts and islands have seen and taken fright, the remotest parts of earth are trembling: they areapproaching, they are here!	5 Las costas lo ven y sienten temor, tiemblan los confines de la tierra: ¡Ya se acercan, ya llegan!
6 People help one another, they say to each other, 'Take heart!'	6 Ellos se ayudan mutuamente y uno dice al otro: «¡Fuerza!».
7 The woodworker encourages the smelter, the polisher encourages the hammerer, saying of thesoldering, 'It is sound'; and he fastens it with nails to keep it steady.	7 El artesano anima al orfebre; el que forja a martillo, al que golpea el yunque, diciendo de la soldadura: «¡Está bien!». Luego se sujeta al ídolo con clavos, para que no se tambalee.
8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham my friend,	8 Pero tú, Israel, mi servidor, Jacob, a quien yo elegí, descendencia de Abraham, mi amigo;
9 whom I have taken to myself, from the remotest parts of the earth and summoned from countries faraway, to whom I have said, 'You are my servant, I have chosen you, I have not rejected you,'	9 tú, a quien tomé de los confines de la tierra y llamé de las regiones más remotas, yo te dije: «Tú eres mi servidor, yo te elegí y no te rechacé».
10 do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed, for I am your God. I give you strength, truly Ihelp you, truly I hold you firm with my saving right hand.	10 No temas, porque yo estoy contigo, no te inquietes, porque yo soy tu Dios; yo te fortalezco y te ayudo, yo te sostengo con mi mano victoriosa.
11 Look, al those who rage against you wil be put to shame and humiliated; those who picked quarrelswith you will be reduced to nothing and wil perish.	11 Sí, quedarán avergonzados y confundidos los que se enfurecen contra ti; serán como nada y desaparecerán aquellos que te desafían,
12 You wil look for them but wil not find them, those who used to fight you; they wil be destroyed andbrought to nothing, those who made war on you.	12 Buscarás, pero no los encontrarás, a aquellos que te provocan; serán como nada, absolutamente nada, los que te hacen la guerra.
13 For I, Yahweh, your God, I grasp you by your right hand; I tel you, 'Do not be afraid, I shal help you.'	13 Porque yo, el Señor, soy tu Dios, el que te sostengo de la mano derecha y te digo: ¿No temas, yo vengo en tu ayuda».
14 Do not be afraid, Jacob, you worm! You little handful of Israel! I shall help you, declares Yahweh; yourredeemer is the Holy One of Israel.	14 Tú eres un gusano, Jacob, eres una lombriz, Israel, pero no temas, yo vengo en tu ayuda –oráculo del Señor– y tu redentor es el Santo de Israel.
15 Look, I am making you into a threshing-sledge, new, with double teeth; you wil thresh and beat themountains to dust and reduce the hills to straw.	15 Yo te convertiré en una trilladora, afilada, nueva, de doble filo: trillarás las montañas y las pulverizarás, y dejarás las colinas como rastrojo.
16 You wil winnow them and the wind wil carry them off, the gale will scatter them; whereas you wilrejoice in Yahweh, will glory in the Holy One of Israel.	16 Las aventarás y el viento se las llevará, y las dispersará la tormenta; y tú te alegrarás en el Señor, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.
17 The oppressed and needy search for water, and there is none, their tongue is parched with thirst. I,Yahweh, shal answer them, I, the God of Israel, shal not abandon them.	17 Los pobres y los indigentes buscan agua en vano, su lengua está reseca por la sed. Pero yo, el Señor, les responderé, yo, el Dios de Israel, no los abandonaré.
18 I shal open up rivers on barren heights and water-holes down in the ravines; I shall turn the desertinto a lake and dry ground into springs of water.	18 Haré brotar ríos en las cumbres desiertas y manantiales en medio de los valles; convertiré el desierto en estanques, la tierra árida en vertientes de agua.
19 I shal plant the desert with cedar trees, acacias, myrtles and olives; in the wastelands I shal putcypress trees, plane trees and box trees side by side;	19 Pondré en el desierto cedros, acacias, mirtos y olivos silvestres; plantaré en la estepa cipreses, junto con olmos y pinos,
20 so that people may see and know, so that they may all observe and understand that the hand ofYahweh has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.	20 para que ellos vean y reconozcan, para que reflexionen y comprendan de una vez que la mano del Señor ha hecho esto, que el Santo de Israel lo ha creado.
21 'Present your case,' says Yahweh, 'Produce your arguments,' says Jacob's king.	21 ¡Expongan su caso, dice el Señor, presenten sus pruebas, dice el rey de Jacob!
22 'Let them produce and reveal to us what is going to happen. What happened in the past? Reveal it sothat we can consider it and know what the outcome wil be. Or tel us about the future,	22 Que se adelanten, y nos anuncien lo que está por suceder. ¿Qué aconteció en el pasado? Díganlo, y prestaremos atención. O bien, predigan lo que va a venir, para que conozcamos su desenlace.
23 reveal what is to happen next, and then we shal know that you are gods. At least, do something, be itgood or bad, so that we may feel alarm and fear.	23 Anuncien lo que pasará después y así sabremos que ustedes son dioses. Hagan algo, sea bueno o malo, para que lo veamos con asombro y temor.
24 Look, you are less than nothingness, and what you do is less than nothing; to choose you is anoutrage.'	24 ¡Pero no, ustedes no son nada y sus obras, menos que nada! ¡Qué abominable el que los elige a ustedes!
25 I have raised him from the north and he has come, from the east he has been summoned by name.He tramples on rulers like mud, like a potter treading clay.	25 Yo lo suscité desde el Norte, y él vino; desde el Oriente lo llamé por su nombre. El pisotea a los gobernantes como barro, como un alfarero que pisa la arcilla.
26 Who revealed this from the beginning for us to know, and in the past for us to say, 'That is right'? Noone in fact revealed it, no one proclaimed it, no one has heard you speak.	26 ¿Quién lo anunció desde el principio, para que pudiéramos saberlo? ¿Quién lo declaró desde hace tiempo, para que dijéramos: «¡Tiene razón!»? No, nadie lo anuncia, nadie lo predice, nadie oyó las palabras de ustedes.
27 First-fruits of Zion, look, here they come! I send a messenger to Jerusalem,	27 Yo, el Primero, dije a Sión: «¡Aquí están, sí, aquí están!» y envié a Jerusalén un heraldo de buenas noticias.
28 and I look -- no one, not a single counsel or among them who, if I asked, could give an answer.	28 Miré, y no había nadie, no había entre ellos ni un solo consejero, para poder interrogarlos y tener una respuesta.
29 Taken altogether they are nothingness, what they do is nothing, their statues, wind and emptiness.	29 ¡Ahí están! ¡Todos ellos no son nada, sus obras, absolutamente nada, sus estatuas, viento y vacío!
