Isaiah 41

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Coasts and islands, fal silent before me, and let the peoples renew their strength, let them comeforward and speak; let us assemble for judgement.	1 - «Tacciano le isole per ascoltarmi! Si forniscano le genti di nuova forza, si avanzino e poi argomentino; presentiamoci insieme alla discussione!
2 'Who has raised from the east him whom saving justice summons in its train, him to whom Yahwehdelivers up the nations and subjects kings, him who reduces them to dust with his sword, and to driven stubblewith his bow,	2 Chi suscitò dall'Oriente il giusto, intimandogli di seguirlo? Darà in sua balìa le genti e gli assoggetterà i re; li farà tritare come polvere dalla sua spada; li farà sbalestrare, come paglia al vento, dalla sua balestra.
3 him who pursues them and advances unhindered, his feet scarcely touching the road?	3 Li perseguiterà, passerà in pace, ricalcate orme sotto i suoi piedi non appariranno.
4 Who has acted thus, who has done this? He who cal s each generation from the beginning: I, Yahweh,who am the first and til the last I shal still be there.'	4 Chi ha fatto e chi ha operato questo, chiamando le generazioni fin da principio? Io, il Signore, il primo e l'ultimo sono io.
5 The coasts and islands have seen and taken fright, the remotest parts of earth are trembling: they areapproaching, they are here!	5 Le isole videro e tremarono, le estremità della terra sbigottirono, si accostarono e si avanzarono.
6 People help one another, they say to each other, 'Take heart!'	6 Ciascuno correrà a soccorrere il vicino, e al fratello suo dirà: - Fatti coraggio! -
7 The woodworker encourages the smelter, the polisher encourages the hammerer, saying of thesoldering, 'It is sound'; and he fastens it with nails to keep it steady.	7 Il fabbro ferraio, tra i colpi di martello, incoraggiava quello che contemporaneamente lavorava all'incudine dicendo: - È buono per la saldatura! - E vi metteva chiodi di rinforzo affinchè non si movesse.
8 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham my friend,	8 Ma tu, o Israele, mio servo, o Giacobbe, tu che ho eletto, o stirpe di Abramo mio amico;
9 whom I have taken to myself, from the remotest parts of the earth and summoned from countries faraway, to whom I have said, 'You are my servant, I have chosen you, I have not rejected you,'	9 tu, che ho tratto dagli estremi confini della terra e dalle sue regioni lontane ho chiamato, a cui ho detto: - Mio servo sei tu, io ti ho eletto e non ti ho rigettato:
10 do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed, for I am your God. I give you strength, truly Ihelp you, truly I hold you firm with my saving right hand.	10 non temere, perocchè io sono teco: non chinare lo sguardo, perchè io sono il tuo Dio, ti ho fortificato, ti ho aiutato, la destra del mio giusto ti ha porto sostegno. -
11 Look, al those who rage against you wil be put to shame and humiliated; those who picked quarrelswith you will be reduced to nothing and wil perish.	11 Ecco che resteranno confusi e svergognati tutti quelli che combattono contro di te, saranno ridotti al niente e periranno quei che a te contradicono.
12 You wil look for them but wil not find them, those who used to fight you; they wil be destroyed andbrought to nothing, those who made war on you.	12 Cercherai di loro e non li troverai questi uomini ribelli a te; saranno annientati e ridotti al nulla gli uomini che fanno guerra contro di te.
13 For I, Yahweh, your God, I grasp you by your right hand; I tel you, 'Do not be afraid, I shal help you.'	13 Perchè io sono il Signore Dio tuo, che ti prendo per mano e ti dico: - Non temere, io veglio al tuo aiuto. -
14 Do not be afraid, Jacob, you worm! You little handful of Israel! I shall help you, declares Yahweh; yourredeemer is the Holy One of Israel.	14 Non temere, o vermicciolo di Giacobbe, o resti morenti d'Israele, io veglio al tuo aiuto, dice il Signore, e il tuo redentore è il Santo d'Israele.
15 Look, I am making you into a threshing-sledge, new, with double teeth; you wil thresh and beat themountains to dust and reduce the hills to straw.	15 Io ti ho posto come un traino nuovo da trebbiare, armato di uncini taglienti; trebbierai i monti e li sminuzzerai e i colli ridurrai in polvere.
16 You wil winnow them and the wind wil carry them off, the gale will scatter them; whereas you wilrejoice in Yahweh, will glory in the Holy One of Israel.	16 Li ventilerai, e il vento se li porterà, e il turbine li disperderà: e tu esulterai nel Signore, ti rallegrerai nel Santo d'Israele.
17 The oppressed and needy search for water, and there is none, their tongue is parched with thirst. I,Yahweh, shal answer them, I, the God of Israel, shal not abandon them.	17 I poveri e i mendichi cercano acqua e non ce n'è: la loro lingua è arsa dalla sete. Io, il Signore, li esaudirò; io, Dio d'Israele, non li abbandonerò.
18 I shal open up rivers on barren heights and water-holes down in the ravines; I shall turn the desertinto a lake and dry ground into springs of water.	18 Dai pendenti colli farò scaturire dei fiumi, e in mezzo alle campagne, delle sorgenti; e cangerò il deserto in stagni d'acque e la terra isterilita in rivi scorrenti.
19 I shal plant the desert with cedar trees, acacias, myrtles and olives; in the wastelands I shal putcypress trees, plane trees and box trees side by side;	19 Darò alle solitudini cedri e acacie e mirti e piante di olivo, darò al deserto abeti e olmi insieme e bossi.
20 so that people may see and know, so that they may all observe and understand that the hand ofYahweh has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.	20 Affinchè tutti parimenti vedano, sappiano, riflettano e intendano che la mano del Signore ha fatto questo, e il Santo d'Israele l'ha creato.
21 'Present your case,' says Yahweh, 'Produce your arguments,' says Jacob's king.	21 Presentate la vostra difesa, dice il Signore; se avete qualche cosa che valga, producetelo, dice il Re di Giacobbe.
22 'Let them produce and reveal to us what is going to happen. What happened in the past? Reveal it sothat we can consider it and know what the outcome wil be. Or tel us about the future,	22 Si avanzino, e annunzino a noi quello che deve accadere: indicateci le previsioni che furono fatte, e applicheremo la nostra attenzione per sapere se sono succedute, oppure annunziateci quelle che devono venire.
23 reveal what is to happen next, and then we shal know that you are gods. At least, do something, be itgood or bad, so that we may feel alarm and fear.	23 Annunziate le cose che verranno in futuro, e conosceremo che siete dii, fatelo o bene o male se potete, e discorriamo insieme e vediamo.
24 Look, you are less than nothingness, and what you do is less than nothing; to choose you is anoutrage.'	24 Ma voi siete un nulla, e l'opera vostra non vale niente: abominevole è colui che vi elegge.
25 I have raised him from the north and he has come, from the east he has been summoned by name.He tramples on rulers like mud, like a potter treading clay.	25 Io lo suscitai dal settentrione perchè venisse, dallo spuntar del sole perchè invocasse il mio nome; egli calpesterà i principi come fango, e come tratta un vasaio la creta che pesta.
26 Who revealed this from the beginning for us to know, and in the past for us to say, 'That is right'? Noone in fact revealed it, no one proclaimed it, no one has heard you speak.	26 Chi l'annunziò in principio che lo sappiamo? e fino ab antico che diciamo a costui: - Tu hai ragione? - No, non v'è chi annunzi, nè chi predica, non è nessuno che oda le vostre parole.
27 First-fruits of Zion, look, here they come! I send a messenger to Jerusalem,	27 Sono io il primo che ho detto a Sion: - Eccoli, eccoli: il messaggero della buona novella a Gerusalemme io lo darò -».
28 and I look -- no one, not a single counsel or among them who, if I asked, could give an answer.	28 Guardai attorno, e non c'era nessuno, neppure di questi dèi che potesse dare un consiglio, e che interrogato, rispondesse una parola.
29 Taken altogether they are nothingness, what they do is nothing, their statues, wind and emptiness.	29 Ecco, sono tutti còlti in fallo, e vane sono le opere loro; vento e vanità i loro simulacri.
