Isaiah 26

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 That day, this song wil be sung in Judah: 'We have a fortress city, the wal s and ramparts providesafety.	1 In quel giorno sarà cantato questo cantico nella terra di Giuda: « Sion è la nostra città forte: il Salvatore ne sarà il muro e l'antemurale.
2 Open the gates! Let the upright nation come in, the nation that keeps faith!	2 Aprite le porte, chè entri il popolo giusto, custode della verità.
3 This is the plan decreed: you wil guarantee peace, the peace entrusted to you.	3 L'antico errore è sparito: tu assicurerai la pace, la pace perchè in te abbiamo sperato.
4 Trust in Yahweh for ever, for Yahweh is a rock for ever.	4 Voi avete messa la vostra speranza nel Signore nei secoli eterni, nel Signore Dio forte per sempre.
5 He has brought low the dwel ers on the heights, the lofty citadel; he lays it low, brings it to the ground,flings it down in the dust.	5 Egli umilierà quelli che stanno in alto, abbasserà la città superba. La umilierà fino alla terra, l'abbasserà fino alla polvere.
6 It wil be trodden under foot, by the feet of the needy, the steps of the weak.'	6 La calpesteranno i piedi, i piedi dei poveri e degli indigenti.
7 The path of the Upright One is honesty; you smooth the honest way of the upright.	7 La via del giusto è dritta, son dritti i sentieri pei quali cammina il giusto.
8 Fol owing the path of your judgements, Yahweh, we set our hopes in you, your name, your memory areal our soul desires.	8 E nella via dei tuoi giudizi ti aspettammo con pazienza, o Signore; il tuo nome, il tuo ricordo sono il desiderio dell'anima.
9 At night my soul longs for you and my spirit within me seeks you out; for when your judgements appearon earth the inhabitants of the world learn what saving justice is.	9 L'anima mia ti ha desiderato nella notte, e col mio spirito e col mio cuore per te veglierò dalla prima luce. Quando avrai eseguiti i tuoi giudizi sulla terra gli abitatori del mondo impareranno la giustizia.
10 If pity is shown to the wicked without his learning what saving justice is, he wil act wrongly in the landof right conduct and not see the majesty of Yahweh.	10 Anche ad avere compassione dell'empio, egli non imparerà la giustizia: farà cose inique nella terra dei santi, e non vedrà la gloria del Signore.
11 Yahweh, your hand is raised but they do not see! The antagonists of your people will look and growpale; with your fiery wrath you wil devour your enemies.	11 Signore, si alzi la tua mano, e non vedano, vedano e restia confusi i gelosi del popolo, e il fuoco divori i tuoi nemici.
12 Yahweh, you wil grant us peace, having completed al our undertakings for us.	12 Signore, tu ci darai la pace, perchè tutte le nostre opere le hai fatte per noi.
13 Yahweh our God, other lords than you have ruled us but, loyal to you alone, we invoke your name.	13 Senza di te, o Signore Dio nostro, dei padroni ci han fatti schiavi; fa che soltanto per te abbiamo a ricordarci del tuo nome.
14 The dead wil not come back to life, the shadows wil not rise again, for you have punished them,annihilated them, wiping out their very memory.	14 Chi muore torna a vivere, i giganti non risorgono: per questo tu li visitasti, li sterminasti, e facesti sparire ogni loro memoria.
15 You have made the nation larger, Yahweh, made the nation larger and won yourself glory, you haverol ed back the frontiers of the country.	15 Tu favoristi la nazione, o Signore, tu favoristi la nazione. Sei stato glorificato? Hai dilatati tutti i confini della terra.
16 Yahweh, in distress they had recourse to you, they expended themselves in prayer, since yourpunishment was on them.	16 Signore, nell'angoscia ti han cercato, nel gemito del dolore (arriva) ad essi la tua istruzione.
17 As a pregnant woman near her time of delivery writhes and cries out in her pangs, so have we been,Yahweh, in your eyes:	17 Come l'incinta, vicina al parto, geme e grida nei suoi dolori, cosi siam divenuti noi dinanzi a te, o Signore.
18 we have been pregnant, we have writhed, but we have given birth only to wind: we have not givensalvation to the earth, no inhabitants for the world have been brought to birth.	18 Abbiamo concepito, (siamo stati) quasi nei dolori del parto, e abbiamo partorito del vento, non abbiamo procurato salvezza alla terra, e per questo gli abitatori della terra non son caduti.
19 Your dead will come back to life, your corpses wil rise again. Wake up and sing, you dwel ers in thedust, for your dew wil be a radiant dew, but the earth will give birth to the shades.	19 I tuoi morti vivranno, i miei uccisi risorgeranno. Svegliatevi, e cantate inni voi che giacete nella polvere; chè la tua rugiada è rugiada di luce, e rovinerai la terra dei giganti.
20 Go, my people, go to your private room, shut yourselves in. Hide yourselves a little while until theretribution has passed.	20 Va, popolo mio, entra nelle tue camere, chiudi dietro di te le tue porte, nasconditi un breve istante, fino a che non sia passato lo sdegno.
21 For see, Yahweh emerges from his dwel ing to punish the inhabitants of earth for their guilt; and theearth will reveal the blood shed on it and no longer hide its slain.	21 Ecco, il Signore uscirà dalla sua dimora a visitare l'iniquità di chi è contro di lui sulla terra, e la terra renderà il sangue ricevuto e non coprirà più i suoi uccisi.
