Isaiah 26

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 That day, this song wil be sung in Judah: 'We have a fortress city, the wal s and ramparts providesafety.	1 Naquele tempo será cantado este cântico na terra de Judá: Nós vimos uma cidade forte, em que se pôs por proteção muro e antemuro.
2 Open the gates! Let the upright nation come in, the nation that keeps faith!	2 Abri as portas, deixai entrar um povo justo, que respeita a fidelidade,
3 This is the plan decreed: you wil guarantee peace, the peace entrusted to you.	3 que tem caráter firme e conserva a paz, porque tem confiança em vós.
4 Trust in Yahweh for ever, for Yahweh is a rock for ever.	4 Tende sempre confiança no Senhor, porque o Senhor é o rochedo perene.
5 He has brought low the dwel ers on the heights, the lofty citadel; he lays it low, brings it to the ground,flings it down in the dust.	5 Ele derrubou os que habitavam nas alturas e destruiu a cidade soberba; derrubou-a por terra e ao nível do chão a reduziu.
6 It wil be trodden under foot, by the feet of the needy, the steps of the weak.'	6 Ela é calcada aos pés pela plebe, sob os passos dos indigentes.
7 The path of the Upright One is honesty; you smooth the honest way of the upright.	7 O caminho do justo é reto; vós aplanais a senda do justo.
8 Fol owing the path of your judgements, Yahweh, we set our hopes in you, your name, your memory areal our soul desires.	8 Seguindo a vereda de vossos juízos, Senhor, nós vos esperamos; por vosso nome e vossa memória nossa alma aspira.
9 At night my soul longs for you and my spirit within me seeks you out; for when your judgements appearon earth the inhabitants of the world learn what saving justice is.	9 Minha alma vos deseja durante a noite e meu espírito vos procura desde a manhã. Quando vossos juízos se exercem sobre a terra, os habitantes do mundo aprendem a justiça.
10 If pity is shown to the wicked without his learning what saving justice is, he wil act wrongly in the landof right conduct and not see the majesty of Yahweh.	10 Porém, se se perdoar o ímpio, ele não aprenderá a justiça; na terra da retidão ele se entregará ao mal e não verá a majestade do Senhor.
11 Yahweh, your hand is raised but they do not see! The antagonists of your people will look and growpale; with your fiery wrath you wil devour your enemies.	11 Senhor, vossa mão está levantada sem que o percebam. Que vejam vosso ardente amor por vosso povo, e sejam confundidos; e que o fogo, bom para os vossos inimigos, os devore.
12 Yahweh, you wil grant us peace, having completed al our undertakings for us.	12 Senhor, proporcionai-nos a paz! Pois vós nos tendes tratado segundo o nosso procedimento.
13 Yahweh our God, other lords than you have ruled us but, loyal to you alone, we invoke your name.	13 Senhor, nosso Deus, outros senhores, além de vós, nos têm dominado, mas não queremos reconhecer outro senão vós.
14 The dead wil not come back to life, the shadows wil not rise again, for you have punished them,annihilated them, wiping out their very memory.	14 Os mortos não reviverão, as sombras não ressuscitarão, porque vós os castigastes e destruístes e apagastes até sua memória.
15 You have made the nation larger, Yahweh, made the nation larger and won yourself glory, you haverol ed back the frontiers of the country.	15 Aumentai a nação, Senhor {aumentai a nação}, manifestai vossa grandeza, e dilatai as fronteiras da nação.
16 Yahweh, in distress they had recourse to you, they expended themselves in prayer, since yourpunishment was on them.	16 Senhor, na tribulação, nós vos buscamos, e clamamos a vós na angústia em que vosso castigo nos abate.
17 As a pregnant woman near her time of delivery writhes and cries out in her pangs, so have we been,Yahweh, in your eyes:	17 Como uma mulher grávida, prestes a dar à luz, se retorce e grita em suas dores, assim estamos diante de vós, Senhor:
18 we have been pregnant, we have writhed, but we have given birth only to wind: we have not givensalvation to the earth, no inhabitants for the world have been brought to birth.	18 nós concebemos e sofremos para dar à luz {o vento}, sem poder dar a salvação à nossa terra; não nasceram novos habitantes no mundo.
19 Your dead will come back to life, your corpses wil rise again. Wake up and sing, you dwel ers in thedust, for your dew wil be a radiant dew, but the earth will give birth to the shades.	19 Que os vossos mortos revivam! Que seus cadáveres ressuscitem! Que despertem e cantem aqueles que jazem sepultos, porque vosso orvalho é um orvalho de luz e a terra restituirá o dia às sombras.
20 Go, my people, go to your private room, shut yourselves in. Hide yourselves a little while until theretribution has passed.	20 Vai, povo meu, entra nos teus quartos, fecha atrás de ti as portas. Esconde-te por alguns instantes até que a cólera passe,
21 For see, Yahweh emerges from his dwel ing to punish the inhabitants of earth for their guilt; and theearth will reveal the blood shed on it and no longer hide its slain.	21 porque o Senhor vai sair de sua morada para punir os crimes dos habitantes da terra; porque a terra fará brotar o sangue que ela bebeu, e não ocultará mais os corpos dos assassinados.
