1 Prophecy on the Valley of Vision: Now what is the matter with you for you al to be up on thehousetops,	1 Vaticinio a carico della Valle della visione. E che hai anche tu, che sei salita tutta quanta sui tetti?
2 ful of excitement, boisterous town, joyful city? Your slain have not fal en to the sword nor died in battle.	2 O piena di tumulto, o città piena di popolo, o città tripudiante, i tuoi morti non sono stati uccisi dalla spada, non sono caduti in battaglia.
3 Your leaders have al fled together, captured without a bow between them, al who could be found havebeen captured at a blow, far though they had fled.	3 Tutti i tuoi principi fuggirono insieme e sono stati crudelmente legati, tutti quelli trovati sono stati messi in catene, sebbene fuggiti lontano.
4 That is why I said, 'Turn your eyes away from me, let me weep bitterly; do not try to comfort me overthe ruin of the daughter of my people.'	4 Per questo io ho detto: « Allontanatevi da me io vo' piangere amaramente: non vi affaticate a, consolarmi per la rovina della figlia del mio popolo.
5 For this is a day of rout, panic and confusion, the work of the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth in the Val ey ofVision. The wal is sapped, cries for help ring out to the mountains.	5 Il giorno della strage, della rovina, del pianto è dal Signore Dio degli eserciti, nella Valle della visione scruta i muri, e sta ma ostoso sul monte.
6 Elam has picked up his quiver, with manned chariots and horsemen, and Kir has bared his shield.	6 Elam ha preso il turcasso, il cocchio dei cavalieri; lo scudo lascia nuda la muraglia.
7 Your fairest val eys are full of chariots and the horsemen take up positions at the gates;	7 E le tue valli migliori saran piene di quadrighe e i cavalieri alloggeranno alla porta,
8 thus falls the defence of Judah. That day you turned your gaze to the weapons in the House of theForest.	8 e sarà tolto il velo a Giuda. In quel giorno vedrai l'armamento della casa del bosco.
9 You saw how many breaches there were in the City of David. You col ected the waters of the lowerpool.	9 E voi vedrete le breccie della città di David moltiplicate, voi che avete radunate le acque nella vasca inferiore
10 You surveyed the houses in Jerusalem and pul ed houses down to strengthen the wal .	10 e avete numerate le case di Gerusalemme, e avete demolite le case per fortificare le mura.
11 Between the two wal s you made a reservoir for the waters of the old pool. But you did not look to theCreator of these things, you did not look to the One who fashioned them long ago.	11 Avete fatto un lago fra le due mura per le acque della vasca vecchia, ma non avete rivolti gli sguardi a colui che l'aveva fatta, a colui che ne è la causa nemmen da lontano ci avete guardato.
12 That day the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth cal ed on you to weep and mourn, to shave your heads, to put onsackcloth.	12 E il Signore Dio degli eserciti vi chiamerà in quel giorno alle lacrime, al pianto, a radervi la testa, a cingervi di sacco.
13 But instead there is joy and merriment, killing of oxen, slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat, drinkingof wine, 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shal be dead.'	13 Eppure, ecco i godimenti, le allegrie, un ammazzar di vitelli e scannar capretti e mangiar le carni e bere il vino: « Mangiamo e beviamo, che domani moriremo ».
14 Then Yahweh Sabaoth revealed this to my ears, 'This guilt wil never be forgiven you, until you aredead,' says the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	14 Ma il Signore mi ha rivelato, colla sua voce ai miei orecchi: « Quest'iniquità non vi sarà perdonata fino a che morrete » dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti.
15 The Lord Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Go and find that steward, Shebna, the master of the palace:	15 Cosi parla il Signore Dio degli eserciti: « Va a trovare colui che abita nel tabernacolo, Sobna, prefetto del tempio e gli dirai:
16 'What do you own here, who gave you the right for you to hew yourself a tomb here?' He is hewinghimself a tomb, is digging a resting-place for himself in the rock.	16 Che fai tu qui? E come sei qui tu? Ti sei fatto scavare un sepolcro, e in alto con arte hai fatto scolpire un monumento, ti sei fatto nella pietra una dimora.
17 But Yahweh wil throw you away, strong as you are, wil grasp you in his grip,	17 Ecco che il Signore ti farà portar via come si porta via un gallo, ti farà alzare come un velo.
18 will screw you up into a bal , a ball thrown into a vast space. There you will die, with your splendidchariots, disgrace to your master's palace!	18 Ti metterà una corona di tribolazione, ti lancerà come palla in piazza larga e spaziosa: là tu morrai, là sarà il cocchio della tua gloria, o ignominia della casa del tuo Signore.
19 I shal hound you from your office, I shal snatch you from your post	19 Io ti caccerò dal tuo posto, ti deporrò dal tuo ministero,
20 and, when that day comes, I shal summon my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah.	20 e questo avverrà in quel giorno: chiamerò il mio servo Eliacim figlio d'Elcia,
21 I shal dress him in your tunic, I shal put your sash round his waist, I shall invest him with yourauthority; and he wil be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the House of Judah.	21 e lo rivestirò della tua tunica, e lo renderò forte colla tua cintura, porrò nelle sue mani il tuo potere ed egli sarà come un padre per gli abitanti cii Gerusalemme e per la casa di Giada.
22 I shal place the key of David's palace on his shoulder; when he opens, no one will close, when hecloses, no one wil open.	22 E porrò sopra le sue spalle la chiave della casa di David; aprirà, e nessuno potrà chiudere, chiuderà e nessuno potrà aprire.
23 I shal drive him like a nail into a firm place; and he wil become a throne of glory for his family.	23 E lo ficcherò come un piolo in luogo saldo, ed egli sarà trono di gloria per la casa di suo padre.
24 'On him wil depend al the glory of his family, the descendants and offspring, al the vessels of smalcapacity too, from cups to pitchers.	24 Appoggeranno a lui tutta la gloria della casa di suo padre, oggetti d'ogni specie, piccoli attrezzi d'ogni genere, dai vasellami delle coppe ad ogni strumento di musica.
25 That day, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, the nail driven into a firm place wil give way, wil be torn out andfal . And the whole load hanging on it will be lost. For Yahweh has spoken.'	25 In quel giorno — dice il Signore degli eserciti — il piolo ficcato in luogo sicuro sarà tolto, sarà rotto e andrà per terra, e rovinerà tutto quello che da esso pendeva, perchè il Signore ha parlato ».
