Isaiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Prophecy on the Valley of Vision: Now what is the matter with you for you al to be up on thehousetops,	1 Oráculo sobre el valle de la Visión. ¿Qué es lo que te sucede para que subas en masa a las azoteas,
2 ful of excitement, boisterous town, joyful city? Your slain have not fal en to the sword nor died in battle.	2 tú, que estás llena de bullicio, ciudad tumultuosa, ciudad alegre? Tus víctimas no son víctimas de la espada ni muertos en el combate.
3 Your leaders have al fled together, captured without a bow between them, al who could be found havebeen captured at a blow, far though they had fled.	3 Tus jefes desertaron todos juntos, cayeron prisioneros sin disparar el arco; todos tus valientes fueron apresados, mientras huían lejos.
4 That is why I said, 'Turn your eyes away from me, let me weep bitterly; do not try to comfort me overthe ruin of the daughter of my people.'	4 Por eso dije: «¡Aparten sus ojos de mí, voy a llorar amargamente; no insistan en consolarme por la devastación de la hija de mi pueblo!».
5 For this is a day of rout, panic and confusion, the work of the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth in the Val ey ofVision. The wal is sapped, cries for help ring out to the mountains.	5 Porque es un día de confusión, de humillación y consternación, enviado por el Señor de los ejércitos: en el valle de la Visión se socavaba el muro, el clamor llegaba a la montaña.
6 Elam has picked up his quiver, with manned chariots and horsemen, and Kir has bared his shield.	6 Elam tomó la aljaba, Aram montó a caballo, Quir desenfundó el escudo.
7 Your fairest val eys are full of chariots and the horsemen take up positions at the gates;	7 Tus valles más hermosos se llenaron de carros de guerra, los jinetes se apostaron a la Puerta
8 thus falls the defence of Judah. That day you turned your gaze to the weapons in the House of theForest.	8 y cayó la defensa de Judá. Aquel día, ustedes volvieron los ojos hacia el arsenal de la Casa de Bosque.
9 You saw how many breaches there were in the City of David. You col ected the waters of the lowerpool.	9 Vieron qué numerosas eran las brechas de la Ciudad de David; juntaron agua en la cisterna inferior;
10 You surveyed the houses in Jerusalem and pul ed houses down to strengthen the wal .	10 contaron las casas de Jerusalén y derribaron algunas para reforzar la muralla;
11 Between the two wal s you made a reservoir for the waters of the old pool. But you did not look to theCreator of these things, you did not look to the One who fashioned them long ago.	11 hicieron un depósito entre los dos muros para las aguas de la cisterna antigua. ¡Pero no se fijaron en el que hacía todo eso, ni miraron al que lo planeó hace mucho tiempo!
12 That day the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth cal ed on you to weep and mourn, to shave your heads, to put onsackcloth.	12 Aquel día, el Señor de los ejércitos convocaba al llanto y al luto, a raparse la cabeza y vestirse de saya! ;
13 But instead there is joy and merriment, killing of oxen, slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat, drinkingof wine, 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shal be dead.'	13 en cambio, hay gozo y alegría, se matan bueyes y se degüellan ovejas, se come carne y se bebe vino: «¡Comamos y bebamos, porque mañana moriremos».
14 Then Yahweh Sabaoth revealed this to my ears, 'This guilt wil never be forgiven you, until you aredead,' says the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	14 El señor de los ejércitos se ha revelado a mi oído: No, esta falta no les será expiada hasta que ustedes mueran, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
15 The Lord Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Go and find that steward, Shebna, the master of the palace:	15 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: «Ve a encontrarte con ese intendente, Sebná, el mayordomo de palacio,
16 'What do you own here, who gave you the right for you to hew yourself a tomb here?' He is hewinghimself a tomb, is digging a resting-place for himself in the rock.	16 que talla su sepulcro en la altura y se cava una morada en la roca. ¿Qué tienes y a quién tienes aquí, para tallarte aquí un sepulcro?
17 But Yahweh wil throw you away, strong as you are, wil grasp you in his grip,	17 Mira que el Señor te arroja de un solo golpe, hombre fuerte; te envuelve bien envuelto,
18 will screw you up into a bal , a ball thrown into a vast space. There you will die, with your splendidchariots, disgrace to your master's palace!	18 te ata fuerte como un ovillo y te arroja como una bola a un país de vastas dimensiones. Allí morirás, y allí irán a parar los carruajes que eran tu gloria, ¡tú, deshonra de la casa de tu señor!
19 I shal hound you from your office, I shal snatch you from your post	19 Yo te derribaré de tu sitial y te destituiré de tu cargo.
20 and, when that day comes, I shal summon my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah.	20 Y aquel día, llamaré a mi servidor Eliaquím, hijo de Jilquías;
21 I shal dress him in your tunic, I shal put your sash round his waist, I shall invest him with yourauthority; and he wil be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the House of Judah.	21 lo vestiré con tu túnica, lo ceñiré con tu faja, pondré tus poderes en su mano, y él será un padre para los habitantes de Jerusalén y para la casa de Judá.
22 I shal place the key of David's palace on his shoulder; when he opens, no one will close, when hecloses, no one wil open.	22 pondré sobre sus hombros la llave de la casa de David: lo que él abra, nadie lo cerrará; lo que él cierre, nadie lo abrirá.
23 I shal drive him like a nail into a firm place; and he wil become a throne of glory for his family.	23 Lo clavaré como una estaca en un sitio firme, y será un trono de gloria para la casa de su padre.
24 'On him wil depend al the glory of his family, the descendants and offspring, al the vessels of smalcapacity too, from cups to pitchers.	24 De él estará suspendida toda la gloria de la casa de su padre: retoños y gajos, todos los vasos pequeños, desde las tazas hasta las vasijas de todas clases.
25 That day, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, the nail driven into a firm place wil give way, wil be torn out andfal . And the whole load hanging on it will be lost. For Yahweh has spoken.'	25 Aquel día –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos– cederá la estaca clavada en un sitio firme, se quebrará, caerá, y la carga que estaba sobre ella será destruida, porque ha hablado el Señor.
