1 Prophecy on the Valley of Vision: Now what is the matter with you for you al to be up on thehousetops,	1 - Vaticinio sulla Valle della Visione. Che hai tu dunque, che sei salita sulle terrazze tutta quanta?
2 ful of excitement, boisterous town, joyful city? Your slain have not fal en to the sword nor died in battle.	2 Chiassosa, affollata città, città tripudiante: i tuoi uccisi non son periti di spada, nè caduti in battaglia.
3 Your leaders have al fled together, captured without a bow between them, al who could be found havebeen captured at a blow, far though they had fled.	3 Sono fuggiti tutti insieme i tuoi principi; furon presi e messi in duri ceppi, tutti quelli che sono stati trovati vennero ugualmente fatti prigionieri nei luoghi remoti dove s'erano rifugiati.
4 That is why I said, 'Turn your eyes away from me, let me weep bitterly; do not try to comfort me overthe ruin of the daughter of my people.'	4 Per questo io ho detto: «Ritiratevi da me, lasciatemi piangere amaramente; è inutile che vi adoperiate per consolarmi sulla rovina della figlia del popolo mio!».
5 For this is a day of rout, panic and confusion, the work of the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth in the Val ey ofVision. The wal is sapped, cries for help ring out to the mountains.	5 Perchè è giorno di carneficina e di calpestamento e di pianto, mandato dal Signore Dio degli eserciti nella Valle della Visione; giorno che assaggerà la forza delle mura; [s'ode] clamore sulla montagna!
6 Elam has picked up his quiver, with manned chariots and horsemen, and Kir has bared his shield.	6 Ed Elam ha raccolto la faretra e carri con uomini a cavallo, e ha staccato dalla parete lo scudo.
7 Your fairest val eys are full of chariots and the horsemen take up positions at the gates;	7 E le tue valli amene saranno piene di carri da guerra, e la cavalleria campeggerà alla tua porta.
8 thus falls the defence of Judah. That day you turned your gaze to the weapons in the House of theForest.	8 E sarà rimosso il velo di Giuda. In quel giorno tu riguarderai verso l'armeria della Casa del bosco,
9 You saw how many breaches there were in the City of David. You col ected the waters of the lowerpool.	9 e farete ispezione delle rotture della città di David, che sono molte; voi avete raccolte le acque della piscina inferiore;
10 You surveyed the houses in Jerusalem and pul ed houses down to strengthen the wal .	10 e contate le case di Gerusalemme, e demolite le abitazioni per fortificare le mura;
11 Between the two wal s you made a reservoir for the waters of the old pool. But you did not look to theCreator of these things, you did not look to the One who fashioned them long ago.	11 e avete fatto un bacino tra due muri, per l'acqua della piscina vecchia; ma non avete riguardato a colui che fece ciò, nè avete visto chi preparò ciò da lungi.
12 That day the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth cal ed on you to weep and mourn, to shave your heads, to put onsackcloth.	12 Il Signore Dio degli eserciti chiamerà in quel giorno al pianto e al lutto, a scalvarsi e a cingere il sacco!
13 But instead there is joy and merriment, killing of oxen, slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat, drinkingof wine, 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shal be dead.'	13 E intanto, ecco gioia e allegria d'ammazzare vitelli, scannar capretti, mangiar carne e bere vino: «Mangiamo e beviamo che domani morremo!».
14 Then Yahweh Sabaoth revealed this to my ears, 'This guilt wil never be forgiven you, until you aredead,' says the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	14 Ma s'è rivelata alle mie orecchie la voce del Signore degli eserciti. «Vi assicuro che non sarà rimessa a voi questa iniquità finchè non moriate», dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti.
15 The Lord Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Go and find that steward, Shebna, the master of the palace:	15 Il Signore Dio degli eserciti dice così: «Va', recati da cotesto ministro, da Sobna, maggiordomo della reggia, e gli dirai:
16 'What do you own here, who gave you the right for you to hew yourself a tomb here?' He is hewinghimself a tomb, is digging a resting-place for himself in the rock.	16 - Che cosa hai da fare tu qui, e per chi ti tieni tu qui, che ti sei qui scavato un sepolcro, ti sei fatto intagliare con arte un monumento in alto, nel vivo masso una dimora?
17 But Yahweh wil throw you away, strong as you are, wil grasp you in his grip,	17 Ecco che il Signore ti farà portar via, come si porta un gallo domestico, ti solleverà come si solleva un involto.
18 will screw you up into a bal , a ball thrown into a vast space. There you will die, with your splendidchariots, disgrace to your master's palace!	18 Ti cingerà una corona di tribolazione, e come una palla ti sbalzerà in una terra larga e spaziosa: ivi morrai, ivi sarà il carro della tua gloria, in onta alla casa del tuo signore.
19 I shal hound you from your office, I shal snatch you from your post	19 E io ti scaccerò dal tuo posto e ti deporrò dal tuo ufficio.
20 and, when that day comes, I shal summon my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah.	20 E avverrà che in quel giorno, io chiamerò il mio servo Eliacim, figlio di Elcia,
21 I shal dress him in your tunic, I shal put your sash round his waist, I shall invest him with yourauthority; and he wil be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the House of Judah.	21 e lo rivestirò della tua tunica, e lo rafforzerò colla tua cintura, e la potestà tua metterò in mano di lui; e sarà come patrono agli abitanti di Gerusalemme e alla casa di Giuda.
22 I shal place the key of David's palace on his shoulder; when he opens, no one will close, when hecloses, no one wil open.	22 E metterò sulla sua spalla la chiave della casa di David; egli aprirà, e nessuno chiuderà; egli chiuderà, e nessuna aprirà.
23 I shal drive him like a nail into a firm place; and he wil become a throne of glory for his family.	23 E lo pianterò come un cavicchio piantato nel solido, e sarà trono di gloria alla casa di suo padre.
24 'On him wil depend al the glory of his family, the descendants and offspring, al the vessels of smalcapacity too, from cups to pitchers.	24 E sospenderanno a quello tutta la gloria della casa di suo padre, arnesi di varie sorta, piccoli attrezzi d'ogni genere, dalla suppellettile dei crateri fino a tutti gli strumenti musicali -».
25 That day, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, the nail driven into a firm place wil give way, wil be torn out andfal . And the whole load hanging on it will be lost. For Yahweh has spoken.'	25 In quel giorno, dice il Signore degli eserciti, cederà il cavicchio ch'era stato piantato sul solido, e si spezzerà e cadrà; e tutto ciò che a quello era sospeso rovinerà perchè il Signore ha parlato.
