Isaiah 22

1 Prophecy on the Valley of Vision: Now what is the matter with you for you al to be up on thehousetops,	1 Oracolo sulla valle della Visione. Che hai tu dunque, che sei salita tutta sulle terrazze,
2 ful of excitement, boisterous town, joyful city? Your slain have not fal en to the sword nor died in battle.	2 città colma di rumore e tumulto, città gaudente? I tuoi trafitti non sono stati trafitti di spada né sono morti in battaglia.
3 Your leaders have al fled together, captured without a bow between them, al who could be found havebeen captured at a blow, far though they had fled.	3 Tutti i tuoi capi sono fuggiti insieme, sono stati fatti prigionieri senza un tiro d’arco; tutti coloro che si trovavano in te sono stati catturati insieme, anche se fuggiti lontano.
4 That is why I said, 'Turn your eyes away from me, let me weep bitterly; do not try to comfort me overthe ruin of the daughter of my people.'	4 Per questo dico: «Stornate lo sguardo da me, che io pianga amaramente; non cercate di consolarmi per la desolazione della figlia del mio popolo».
5 For this is a day of rout, panic and confusion, the work of the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth in the Val ey ofVision. The wal is sapped, cries for help ring out to the mountains.	5 Infatti è un giorno di panico, di distruzione e di smarrimento, voluto dal Signore, Dio degli eserciti. Nella valle della Visione un diroccare di mura e un invocare aiuto verso i monti.
6 Elam has picked up his quiver, with manned chariots and horsemen, and Kir has bared his shield.	6 Gli Elamiti hanno indossato la faretra, con uomini su carri e cavalieri; Kir ha tolto il fodero allo scudo.
7 Your fairest val eys are full of chariots and the horsemen take up positions at the gates;	7 Le migliori tra le tue valli sono piene di carri; i cavalieri si sono disposti contro la porta.
8 thus falls the defence of Judah. That day you turned your gaze to the weapons in the House of theForest.	8 Così è tolta la protezione di Giuda. Tu guardavi in quel giorno alle armi del palazzo della Foresta.
9 You saw how many breaches there were in the City of David. You col ected the waters of the lowerpool.	9 Avete visto le brecce della Città di Davide quanto erano numerose. Poi avete raccolto le acque della piscina inferiore,
10 You surveyed the houses in Jerusalem and pul ed houses down to strengthen the wal .	10 avete contato le case di Gerusalemme e avete demolito le case per fortificare le mura.
11 Between the two wal s you made a reservoir for the waters of the old pool. But you did not look to theCreator of these things, you did not look to the One who fashioned them long ago.	11 Avete anche costruito un serbatoio fra i due muri per le acque della piscina vecchia; ma voi non avete guardato a chi ha fatto queste cose, né avete visto chi ha preparato ciò da tempo.
12 That day the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth cal ed on you to weep and mourn, to shave your heads, to put onsackcloth.	12 Vi invitava in quel giorno il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, al pianto e al lamento, a rasarvi il capo e a vestire il sacco.
13 But instead there is joy and merriment, killing of oxen, slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat, drinkingof wine, 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shal be dead.'	13 Ecco invece gioia e allegria, sgozzate bovini e scannate greggi, mangiate carne e bevete vino: «Mangiamo e beviamo, perché domani moriremo!».
14 Then Yahweh Sabaoth revealed this to my ears, 'This guilt wil never be forgiven you, until you aredead,' says the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.	14 Ma il Signore degli eserciti si è rivelato ai miei orecchi: «Certo non sarà espiato questo vostro peccato, finché non sarete morti», dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti.
15 The Lord Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Go and find that steward, Shebna, the master of the palace:	15 Così dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti: «Rècati da questo ministro, da Sebna, il maggiordomo, e digli:
16 'What do you own here, who gave you the right for you to hew yourself a tomb here?' He is hewinghimself a tomb, is digging a resting-place for himself in the rock.	16 “Che cosa possiedi tu qui e chi hai tu qui, tanto da scavarti qui un sepolcro?”. Scavarsi in alto il proprio sepolcro, nella rupe la propria tomba!
17 But Yahweh wil throw you away, strong as you are, wil grasp you in his grip,	17 Ecco, il Signore ti scaglierà giù a precipizio, o uomo, ti afferrerà saldamente,
18 will screw you up into a bal , a ball thrown into a vast space. There you will die, with your splendidchariots, disgrace to your master's palace!	18 certamente ti rotolerà ben bene come una palla, verso una regione estesa. Là morirai e là finiranno i tuoi sontuosi cocchi, o ignominia del palazzo del tuo signore!
19 I shal hound you from your office, I shal snatch you from your post	19 Ti toglierò la carica, ti rovescerò dal tuo posto.
20 and, when that day comes, I shal summon my servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah.	20 In quel giorno avverrà che io chiamerò il mio servo Eliakìm, figlio di Chelkia;
21 I shal dress him in your tunic, I shal put your sash round his waist, I shall invest him with yourauthority; and he wil be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the House of Judah.	21 lo rivestirò con la tua tunica, lo cingerò della tua cintura e metterò il tuo potere nelle sue mani. Sarà un padre per gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e per il casato di Giuda.
22 I shal place the key of David's palace on his shoulder; when he opens, no one will close, when hecloses, no one wil open.	22 Gli porrò sulla spalla la chiave della casa di Davide: se egli apre, nessuno chiuderà; se egli chiude, nessuno potrà aprire.
23 I shal drive him like a nail into a firm place; and he wil become a throne of glory for his family.	23 Lo conficcherò come un piolo in luogo solido e sarà un trono di gloria per la casa di suo padre.
24 'On him wil depend al the glory of his family, the descendants and offspring, al the vessels of smalcapacity too, from cups to pitchers.	24 Su di lui faranno convergere ogni gloria della casa di suo padre: germogli e rampolli, ogni piccolo vasellame, dalle coppe alle anfore.
25 That day, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, the nail driven into a firm place wil give way, wil be torn out andfal . And the whole load hanging on it will be lost. For Yahweh has spoken.'	25 In quel giorno – oracolo del Signore degli eserciti – cederà il piolo conficcato in luogo solido. Si spezzerà, cadrà e andrà in frantumi tutto ciò che vi era appeso, perché il Signore ha parlato».
