NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 It was the High Priest Simon son of Onias who repaired the Temple during his lifetime and in his day fortified the sanctuary.	1 Simon e figlio di Onia, gran sacerdote, durante la sua vita riparò la casa, e nei suoi giorni restaurò il tempio.
2 He laid the foundations of double depth, the high buttresses of the Temple precincts.	2 Fu pure lui che diede fondamenti all'altezza del tempio, col doppio muro e le alte muraglie del tempio.
3 In his day the pool was excavated, a reservoir as huge as the sea.	3 Ai suoi giorni scaturirono i serbatoi delle acque e furon ripieni oltremodo come mare.
4 Anxious to save the people from ruin, he fortified the city against siege.	4 Egli ebbe cura del suo popolo e lo liberò dalla rovina.
5 How splendid he was with the people thronging round him, when he emerged from the curtained shrine,	5 Egli giunse ad ingrandire la città, si acquistò gloria nelle relazioni colla nazione, ed ampliò l'ingresso della casa e dell'atrio.
6 like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon at the ful ,	6 Come la stella del mattino tra la nebbia, come splendida luna nei giorni della sua pienezza,
7 like the sun shining on the Temple of the Most High, like the rainbow gleaming against bril iant clouds,	7 come sol rifulgente, così egli rifulse nel tempio di Dio.
8 like a rose in springtime, like a lily by a spring, like a branch of the incense tree in summer,	8 Come arcobaleno fulgente tra luminose nuvole, come il fiore delle rose nei giorni di primavera, come gigli lungo le correnti delle acque, come incenso odoroso nei giorni dell'estate,
9 like fire and incense in the censer, like a massive golden vessel encrusted with every kind of preciousstone,	9 come fiamma luminosa, come incenso che brucia nel fuoco,
10 like an olive tree loaded with fruit, like a cypress soaring to the clouds;	10 come vaso d'oro massiccio, ornato d'ogni sorta di pietre preziose,
11 when he took his ceremonial robe and put on his magnificent ornaments, when he went up to the holyaltar and fil ed the sanctuary precincts with his grandeur;	11 come olivo che mignola, come cipresso che si eleva in alto, così (Simone pareva) quando indossava le gloriose vesti e si metteva tutti i suoi ornamenti.
12 when he received the portions from the hands of the priests, himself standing by the altar hearth,crowned with the circle of his brothers, as a cedar of Lebanon is by its foliage, as though surrounded by thetrunks of palm trees.	12 Quando saliva all'altare santo faceva onore alle vesti della santità.
13 When all the sons of Aaron in their glory, with the offerings of the Lord in their hands, stood before thewhole assembly of Israel,	13 Quando riceveva le parti della vittima dalle mani dei sacerdoti, e stava in piedi presso l'altare, circondato dalla corona dei fratelli, come polloni del cedro del monte Libano,
14 while he completed the rites at the altars, nobly presenting the offerings to the Almighty, Most High!	14 e come rami di palma, stavano intorno a lui tutti i figli d'Aronne nella loro magnificenza.
15 He would reach out his hand to the cup and pour a libation of wine, pouring it at the foot of the altar, afragrance pleasing to the Most High, King of All;	15 Tenevano nelle mani l'oblazione del Signore, in presenza di tutta l'adunanza. d'Israele; ed egli compiendo il sacrifizio, per rendere più solenne l'oblazione al re eccelso,
16 then the sons of Aaron would shout and blow their metal trumpets, making a mighty sound ring out asa reminder before the Most High;	16 stendeva la mano per la libazione, e versava il sangue dell'uva,
17 and immediately the people al together would fal on their faces to the ground, in adoration of theirLord, the Almighty, God Most High,	17 e spandeva ai piè dell'altare l'odore divino al principe eccelso.
18 and with the cantors chanting their hymns of praise. Sweet was the melody of al these voices,	18 Allora i figli di Aronne alzavan le loro voci e sonavano le trombe di metallo battuto, e facevan sentire grande concento, memoriale davanti a Dio.
19 as the people pleaded with the Lord Most High and prayed in the presence of the Merciful, until theservice of the Lord was completed and the ceremony at an end.	19 Allora tutto il popolo insieme con rapida mossa, si gettava colla faccia per terra ad adorare il Signore suo Dio, ad offrir le sue preghiere all'onnipotente eccelso Dio.
20 Then he would come down and raise his hands over the whole assembly of the Israelites, to give themthe Lord's blessing from his lips, being privileged to pronounce his name;	20 E quelli che salmeggiavano alzavano le loro voci, e nella gran casa cresceva il concento pieno di soavità;
21 and once again the people would bow low to receive the blessing of the Most High.	21 e il popolo pregava il Signore Altissimo finché non fosse terminato il culto del Signore e compiuto il sacro ministero.
22 And now bless the God of al things, the doer of great deeds everywhere, who has exalted our daysfrom the womb and has acted merciful y towards us.	22 Allora (Simone) scendendo dall'altare, alzava le sue mani sopra tutta l'adunanza d'Israele e dava gloria a Dio coi suoi labbri, e si gloriava nel nome di lui,
23 May he grant us cheerful hearts and bring peace in our time, in Israel for ages on ages.	23 e rinnovava la sua orazione, volendo mostrare la potenza di Dio.
24 May his mercy be faithfully with us, may he redeem us in our own times!	24 Or dunque pregate il Dio dell'universo, il quale ha fatto grandi cose in tutta la terra, ha moltiplicati i nostri giorni dal seno della nostra madre, e ci ha trattati secondo la sua misericordia,
25 There are two nations that my soul detests, the third is not a nation at al :	25 affinehè ci dia la gioia del cuore, e faccia regnare in Israele la pace ai nostri giorni e per sempre,
26 the inhabitants of Mount Seir, the Philistines, and the stupid people living at Shechem.	26 e Israele creda che la misericordia di Dio è con noi per liberarci ai suo tempo.
27 Instruction in wisdom and knowledge is what has been written in this book by Jesus son of SiraEleazar of Jerusalem, who has poured a rain of wisdom from his heart.	27 Due popoli non può soffrire l'anima mia, e il terzo da me odiato non è nemmeno un popolo:
28 Blessed is he who devotes his time to these and grows wise by taking them to heart!	28 quelli che stanno sul monte Seir, i Filistei e il popolo stolto che abita in Sichem.
29 If he practises them he will be strong enough for anything, since the light of the Lord is his path.	29 Gl'insegnamenti della sapienza e della disciplina li ha scritti in questo libro Gesù figlio di Sirac, di Gerusalemme, il quale effuse nuova sapienza dal suo cuore.
	30 Beato colui che medita queste ottime cose, chi le conserva nel suo cuore sarà sempre sapiente.
	31 Se le metterà in pratica trionferà di tutto, perchè la luce di Dio è la sua guida.
