Sirach 34

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 Vain and deceptive hopes are for the foolish, and dreams lend wings to fools.	1 Hiú és hazug az oktalan ember reménye, és álmok szédítik meg a balgákat.
2 As wel clutch at shadows and chase the wind as put any faith in dreams.	2 Mint aki árnyék után kapkod és szelet kerget, olyan, aki hazug álmokra ad!
3 Dreams are no different from mirrors; confronting a face, the reflection of that face.	3 Az egyik a másikkal szemben – ez az álomkép –, emberi arc mása emberi arccal szemben.
4 What can be cleansed by uncleanness, what can be verified by falsehood?	4 Mi lehet tiszta a tisztátalanból? És mi lehet igaz a hazugságból?
5 Divinations, auguries and dreams are nonsense, like the fantasies of a pregnant woman.	5 Hiúk a csalfa jóslások, a hazug jelfejtések és a varázslók álmai,
6 Unless sent as emissaries from the Most High, do not give them a thought;	6 s képzelődik szíved, mint a vajúdó asszonyé, hacsak a Magasságbeli nem küldi látogatás gyanánt. Ne is törődj velük!
7 for dreams have led many astray, and those who relied on them have come to grief.	7 Már sok embert vezettek tévútra az álmok, és kárt vallottak, akik azokban bíztak.
8 Fulfil ing the Law requires no such falsehood, and wisdom is perfected in veracity.	8 Csalhatatlanul teljesedik a törvény igéje, és tökéletes a bölcsesség megbízható szájból.
9 A much travel ed man knows many things, and a man of great experience wil talk sound sense.	9 Mit tud az, aki nem ment át megpróbáltatáson? A férfi, aki sokat tapasztalt, sokat tud is, s aki sokat tanult, értelmesen beszél.
10 Someone who has never had his trials knows little; but the travel ed man is master of every situation.	10 Aki nem próbált semmit sem, keveset tud, de aki sok helyen megfordult, bővelkedik ravaszságban.
11 I have seen many things on my travels, I have understood more than I can put into words.	11 Mit tud az, aki nem ment át megpróbáltatáson? Csak aki sokszor csalódott, bővelkedik fortélyban.
12 I have often been in danger of death, but I have been spared, and this is why:	12 Sokat láttam utazás közben, és sok dolgot tapasztaltam.
13 the spirit of those who fear the Lord can survive, for their hope is in someone with power to save them.	13 Többször jutottam miattuk halálos veszélybe, de megszabadultam Isten kegyelme által!
14 No one who fears the Lord need ever hesitate, or ever be daunted, since the Lord is his hope.	14 Becsben áll az istenfélők lelke, és áldásban részesül, ha ő rájuk tekint,
15 Happy the soul of one who fears the Lord. On whom does he rely? Who supports him?	15 Mert Megmentőjükbe vetik ők reményüket, és Isten szeme van azokon, akik szeretik őt.
16 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who love him, he is their powerful protection and their strongsupport, their screen from the desert wind, their shelter from the midday sun, a guard against stumbling, anassurance against a fal .	16 Aki az Urat féli, semmitől sem retteg, és nem fél, hisz ő a reménye!
17 He revives the spirit and brightens the eyes, he gives health, life and blessing.	17 Boldog annak lelke, aki az Urat féli!
18 The sacrifice of an offering unjustly acquired is a mockery; the gifts of the impious are unacceptable.	18 Ki másra hagyatkozzon, és ki legyen erőssége?
19 The Most High takes no pleasure in offerings from the godless, multiplying sacrifices wil not gainpardon for sin.	19 Az Úr szeme van azokon, akik őt félik, hiszen ő hatalmas oltalmazó, szilárd erősség, menedék a forróság, árnyék a déli hő ellen,
20 Offering sacrifice from the property of the poor is as bad as slaughtering a son before his father'seyes.	20 védelem a botlás ellen, és segítség a bukáskor, felemeli a lelket, és derűt ad a szemnek, egészséget ad, életet és áldást!
21 A meagre diet is the very life of the poor, to deprive them of it is to commit murder.	21 Az igaztalanból áldozónak förtelmes az áldozata, és nem kedvesek a gonoszok gúnyolódásai!
22 To take away a fel ow-man's livelihood is to kil him, to deprive an employee of his wages is to shedblood.	22 Az Úr csak azokkal van, akik hívek hozzá az igazság és jámborság útján.

25 If someone washes after touching a corpse, and then touches it again, what is the good of hiswashing?	25 A szegényeknek szűkös a kenyere a megélhetéshez, aki az ilyet megcsalja, vér embere!
26 Just so with someone who fasts for sin, and then goes and commits it again. Who is going to hear thatperson's prayer? What is the good of the self-abasement?	26 Aki megvonja a verítékkel érdemelt kenyeret, olyan, mint aki megöli társát.
	27 Mint aki vért ont, olyan, aki megcsalja a bérest.
	28 Épít az egyik, a másik lebontja, mi marad nekik a fáradságon kívül?
	29 Imádkozik az egyik, átkozódik a másik, vajon kinek szavát hallgatja meg Isten?
	30 Aki tetem illetése után megfürdik, és újból érinti, mi haszna mosakodásának?
	31 Így van az az ember, aki böjtöl bűneiért, és újból elköveti őket, mi haszna sanyargatásának? Ki hallgatja meg imáját?
