1 [Psalm Of Asaph] God takes his stand in the divine assembly, surrounded by the gods he givesjudgement.1 A psalm of Asaph. God rises in the divine council, gives judgment in the midst of the gods.
2 'How much longer wil you give unjust judgements and uphold the prestige of the wicked?2 "How long will you judge unjustly and favor the cause of the wicked? Selah
3 Let the weak and the orphan have justice, be fair to the wretched and the destitute.Pause3 Defend the lowly and fatherless; render justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 'Rescue the weak and the needy, save them from the clutches of the wicked.4 Rescue the lowly and poor; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."
5 'Ignorant and uncomprehending, they wander in darkness, while the foundations of the world aretottering.5 The gods neither know nor understand, wandering about in darkness, and all the world's foundations shake.
6 I had thought, "Are you gods, are al of you sons of the Most High?"6 I declare: "Gods though you be, offspring of the Most High all of you,
7 No! you wil die as human beings do, as one man, princes, you will fal .'7 Yet like any mortal you shall die; like any prince you shall fall."
8 Arise, God, judge the world, for al nations belong to you.8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for yours are all the nations.
