Psalms 41

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David] Blessed is anyone who cares for the poor and the weak; in timeof trouble Yahweh rescues him.	1 למנצח מזמור לדוד אשרי משכיל אל דל ביום רעה ימלטהו יהוה
2 Yahweh protects him, gives him life and happiness on earth. Do not abandon him to his enemies'pleasure!	2 יהוה ישמרהו ויחיהו יאשר בארץ ואל תתנהו בנפש איביו
3 Yahweh sustains him on his bed of sickness; you transform altogether the bed where he lies sick.	3 יהוה יסעדנו על ערש דוי כל משכבו הפכת בחליו
4 For my part I said, 'Yahweh, take pity on me! Cure me for I have sinned against you.'	4 אני אמרתי יהוה חנני רפאה נפשי כי חטאתי לך
5 My enemies speak to me only of disaster, 'When wil he die and his name disappear?'	5 אויבי יאמרו רע לי מתי ימות ואבד שמו
6 When people come to see me their talk is hol ow, when they get out they spread the news with spite intheir hearts.	6 ואם בא לראות שוא ידבר לבו יקבץ און לו יצא לחוץ ידבר
7 Al who hate me whisper together about me and reckon I deserve the misery I suffer.	7 יחד עלי יתלחשו כל שנאי עלי יחשבו רעה לי
8 'A fatal sickness has a grip on him; now that he is down, he will never get up again.'	8 דבר בליעל יצוק בו ואשר שכב לא יוסיף לקום
9 Even my trusted friend on whom I relied, who shared my table, takes advantage of me.	9 גם איש שלומי אשר בטחתי בו אוכל לחמי הגדיל עלי עקב
10 But you, Yahweh, take pity on me! Put me on my feet and I wil give them their due.	10 ואתה יהוה חנני והקימני ואשלמה להם
11 This wil convince me that you delight in me, if my enemy no longer exults over me.	11 בזאת ידעתי כי חפצת בי כי לא יריע איבי עלי
12 Then you wil keep me unscathed, and set me in your presence for ever.	12 ואני בתמי תמכת בי ותציבני לפניך לעולם
13 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from eternity to eternity. Amen, Amen.	13 ברוך יהוה אלהי ישראל מהעולם ועד העולם אמן ואמן
