Psalms 37

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [Of David] Do not get heated about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.	1 Di Davide. Non t'irritare a causa dei malvagi, non invidiare quanti commettono il male.
2 Quick as the grass they wither, fading like the green of the fields.	2 Poiché come fieno saran presto falciati, come erba verdeggiante avvizziranno.
3 Put your trust in Yahweh and do right, make your home in the land and live secure.	3 Confida nel Signore e opera il bene, abita nella terra e goditi le sue ricchezze;
4 Make Yahweh your joy and he will give you your heart's desires.	4 poni nel Signore la tua gioia, possa egli appagare il desiderio del tuo cuore.
5 Commit your destiny to Yahweh, be confident in him, and he wil act,	5 Al Signore affida la tua via, confida in lui ed egli interverrà;
6 making your uprightness clear as daylight, and the justice of your cause as the noon.	6 farà risplendere come luce la tua giustizia e il tuo giudizio come il meriggio.
7 Stay quiet before Yahweh, wait longingly for him, do not get heated over someone who is making afortune, succeeding by devious means.	7 Rimani tranquillo davanti al Signore e spera in lui, non t'irritare per chi ha prospera la vita, per l'uomo che agisce con scaltrezza.
8 Refrain from anger, leave rage aside, do not get heated -- it can do no good;	8 Trattieniti dall'ira e non cedere allo sdegno; non t'irritare: ti porterebbe al male.
9 for evil-doers will be annihilated, while those who hope in Yahweh shal have the land for their own.	9 Poiché saranno stroncati i malvagi, mentre quanti sperano nel Signore erediteranno la terra.
10 A little while and the wicked wil be no more, however wel you search for the place, the wicked wilnot be there;	10 Ancora un poco e l'empio non ci sarà più; ne cercherai il posto e non lo troverai.
11 but the poor wil have the land for their own, to enjoy untroubled peace.	11 Ma i miseri erediteranno la terra e potranno godere della pace in abbondanza.
12 The wicked plots against the upright and gnashes his teeth at him,	12 L'empio complotta contro il giusto, digrigna i denti contro di lui.
13 but Yahweh only laughs at his efforts, knowing that his end is in sight.	13 Il Signore se ne ride, perché sa che verrà il suo giorno.
14 Though the wicked draw his sword and bend his bow to slaughter the honest and bring down thepoor and the needy,	14 Gli empi sguainano la loro spada e tendono il loro arco, per colpire il misero e il povero, per uccidere quelli che camminano rettamente.

19 they wil not be put to shame when bad times come, in time of famine they wil have plenty.	19 Non arrossiranno in tempo di angustia, nei giorni di carestia potranno saziarsi.
20 The wicked, enemies of Yahweh, wil be destroyed, they wil vanish like the green of the pasture, theywil vanish in smoke.	20 Sì, periranno gli empi, i nemici del Signore appassiranno. Essi passano come l'ornamento del prato, più presto del fumo essi svaniscono.
21 The wicked borrows and wil not repay, but the upright is generous in giving;	21 Prende in prestito l'empio e non restituisce, mentre il giusto è pietoso e dà.

23 Yahweh guides a strong man's steps and keeps them firm; and takes pleasure in him.	23 Dal Signore dipendono i passi dell'uomo, egli rafforza l'uomo la cui via gli è gradita.
24 When he trips he is not thrown sprawling, since Yahweh supports him by the hand.	24 Se egli cade, non rimarrà prostrato, poiché il Signore sorregge la sua mano.
25 Now I am old, but ever since my youth I never saw an upright person abandoned, or the descendantsof the upright forced to beg their bread.	25 Sono stato ragazzo e ora sono vecchio; non ho mai visto un giusto abbandonato, né un suo discendente mendicare il pane.
26 The upright is always compassionate, always lending, so his descendants reap a blessing.	26 Ogni giorno è pietoso e concede prestiti, e la sua discendenza sarà in benedizione.
27 Turn your back on evil and do good, you wil have a home for ever,	27 Discòstati dal male e fa' il bene, così sarà stabile la tua dimora per sempre.
28 for Yahweh loves justice and wil not forsake his faithful. Evil-doers wil perish eternally, thedescendants of the wicked be annihilated,	28 Poiché il Signore ama l'equità e non abbandona chi in lui si rifugia. Gli iniqui in eterno saranno puniti e sarà recisa la discendenza degli empi.
29 but the upright shal have the land for their own, there they shal live for ever.	29 I giusti erediteranno la terra e sarà la loro dimora per sempre.
30 Wisdom comes from the lips of the upright, and his tongue speaks what is right;	30 La bocca del giusto proferisce sapienza e parla la sua lingua secondo equità.
31 the law of his God is in his heart, his foot wil never slip.	31 La legge del suo Dio sta sempre nel suo cuore e i suoi passi non sono esitanti.
32 The wicked keeps a close eye on the upright, looking out for a chance to kill him;	32 Sta l'empio in agguato del giusto e cerca il modo di farlo morire.
33 Yahweh will never abandon him to the clutches of the wicked, nor let him be condemned if he is tried.	33 Ma in suo potere non lo lascia il Signore, né permette la sua condanna in giudizio.
34 Put your hope in Yahweh, keep to his path, he wil raise you up to make the land your own; you willook on while the wicked are annihilated.	34 Spera nel Signore e custodisci la sua via, sarai capace di ereditare la terra, e assisterai con gioia all'esclusione degli empi.
35 I have seen the wicked exultant, towering like a cedar of Lebanon.	35 Vidi l'empio esaltato, elevato come un cedro verdeggiante.
36 When next I passed he was gone, I searched for him and he was nowhere to be found.	36 Passai, ed ecco: non c'era più; feci ricerche: non si trovava.
37 Observe the innocent, consider the honest, for the lover of peace wil not lack children.	37 Custodisci l'integrità e segui la rettitudine, poiché c'è prosperità per l'uomo di pace.
38 But the wicked wil al be destroyed together, and their children annihilated.	38 Tutti insieme saranno puniti i malfattori; stroncata sarà la posterità degli empi.
39 The upright have Yahweh for their Saviour, their refuge in times of trouble;	39 La salvezza dei giusti viene dal Signore, egli è loro scampo in tempo d'angustia.
40 Yahweh helps them and rescues them, he wil rescue them from the wicked, and save them becausethey take refuge in him.	40 Li protegge il Signore e li libera, li libera dagli empi e li salva, poiché in lui hanno cercato rifugio.
