Psalms 37

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 [Of David] Do not get heated about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.	1 De David. Ne t'échauffe pas contre les méchants, ne jalouse pas les artisans de fausseté:
2 Quick as the grass they wither, fading like the green of the fields.	2 vite comme l'herbe ils sont fanés, flétris comme le vert des prés.
3 Put your trust in Yahweh and do right, make your home in the land and live secure.	3 Compte sur Yahvé et agis bien, habite la terre et vis tranquille,
4 Make Yahweh your joy and he will give you your heart's desires.	4 mets en Yahvé ta réjouissance: il t'accordera plus que les désirs de ton coeur.
5 Commit your destiny to Yahweh, be confident in him, and he wil act,	5 Remets ton sort à Yahvé, compte sur lui, il agira;
6 making your uprightness clear as daylight, and the justice of your cause as the noon.	6 il produira ta justice comme le jour, comme le midi ton droit.
7 Stay quiet before Yahweh, wait longingly for him, do not get heated over someone who is making afortune, succeeding by devious means.	7 Sois calme devant Yahvé et attends-le, ne t'échauffe pas contre le parvenu, l'homme qui used'intrigues.
8 Refrain from anger, leave rage aside, do not get heated -- it can do no good;	8 Trêve à la colère, renonce au courroux, ne t'échauffe pas, ce n'est que mal;
9 for evil-doers will be annihilated, while those who hope in Yahweh shal have the land for their own.	9 car les méchants seront extirpés, qui espère Yahvé possédera la terre.
10 A little while and the wicked wil be no more, however wel you search for the place, the wicked wilnot be there;	10 Encore un peu, et plus d'impie, tu t'enquiers de sa place, il n'est plus;
11 but the poor wil have the land for their own, to enjoy untroubled peace.	11 mais les humbles posséderont la terre, réjouis d'une grande paix.
12 The wicked plots against the upright and gnashes his teeth at him,	12 L'impie complote contre le juste et grince des dents contre lui;
13 but Yahweh only laughs at his efforts, knowing that his end is in sight.	13 le Seigneur se moque de lui, car il voit venir son jour.
14 Though the wicked draw his sword and bend his bow to slaughter the honest and bring down thepoor and the needy,	14 Les impies tirent l'épée, ils tendent l'arc, pour égorger l'homme droit, pour renverser le pauvre etle petit;
15 his sword will pierce his own heart, and his bow wil be shattered.	15 l'épée leur entrera au coeur et leurs arcs seront brisés.
16 What little the upright possesses outweighs al the wealth of the wicked;	16 Mieux vaut un peu pour le juste que tant de fortune pour l'impie;
17 for the weapons of the wicked shal be shattered, while Yahweh supports the upright.	17 car les bras de l'impie seront brisés, mais Yahvé soutient les justes.
18 The lives of the just are in Yahweh's care, their birthright wil endure for ever;	18 Yahvé connaît les jours des parfaits, éternel sera leur héritage;
19 they wil not be put to shame when bad times come, in time of famine they wil have plenty.	19 pas de honte pour eux aux mauvais jours, dans la famine ils seront rassasiés.
20 The wicked, enemies of Yahweh, wil be destroyed, they wil vanish like the green of the pasture, theywil vanish in smoke.	20 Cependant les impies périront, eux, les ennemis de Yahvé; ils s'en iront comme la parure des prés,en fumée ils s'en iront.
21 The wicked borrows and wil not repay, but the upright is generous in giving;	21 L'impie emprunte et ne rend pas, le juste a pitié, il donne;
22 those he blesses will have the land for their own, and those he curses be annihilated.	22 ceux qu'il bénit posséderont la terre, ceux qu'il maudit seront extirpés.
23 Yahweh guides a strong man's steps and keeps them firm; and takes pleasure in him.	23 Yahvé mène les pas de l'homme, ils sont fermes et sa marche lui plaît;
24 When he trips he is not thrown sprawling, since Yahweh supports him by the hand.	24 quand il tombe, il ne reste pas terrassé, car Yahvé le soutient par la main.
25 Now I am old, but ever since my youth I never saw an upright person abandoned, or the descendantsof the upright forced to beg their bread.	25 J'étais jeune, et puis j'ai vieilli, je n'ai pas vu le juste abandonné, ni sa lignée cherchant du pain.
26 The upright is always compassionate, always lending, so his descendants reap a blessing.	26 Tout le jour il a pitié, il prête, sa lignée sera en bénédiction!
27 Turn your back on evil and do good, you wil have a home for ever,	27 Evite le mal, agis bien, tu auras une habitation pour toujours;
28 for Yahweh loves justice and wil not forsake his faithful. Evil-doers wil perish eternally, thedescendants of the wicked be annihilated,	28 car Yahvé aime le droit, il n'abandonne pas ses amis. Les malfaisants seront détruits à jamais et lalignée des impies extirpée;
29 but the upright shal have the land for their own, there they shal live for ever.	29 les justes posséderont la terre, là ils habiteront pour toujours.
30 Wisdom comes from the lips of the upright, and his tongue speaks what is right;	30 La bouche du juste murmure la sagesse et sa langue dit le droit;
31 the law of his God is in his heart, his foot wil never slip.	31 la loi de son Dieu dans son coeur, ses pas ne chancellent point.
32 The wicked keeps a close eye on the upright, looking out for a chance to kill him;	32 L'impie guette le juste et cherche à le faire mourir;
33 Yahweh will never abandon him to the clutches of the wicked, nor let him be condemned if he is tried.	33 à sa main Yahvé ne l'abandonne, ne le laisse en justice condamner.
34 Put your hope in Yahweh, keep to his path, he wil raise you up to make the land your own; you willook on while the wicked are annihilated.	34 Espère Yahvé et observe sa voie, il t'exaltera pour que tu possèdes la terre: tu verras les impiesextirpés.
35 I have seen the wicked exultant, towering like a cedar of Lebanon.	35 J'ai vu l'impie forcené s'élever comme un cèdre du Liban;
36 When next I passed he was gone, I searched for him and he was nowhere to be found.	36 je suis passé, voici qu'il n'était plus, je l'ai cherché, on ne l'a pas trouvé.
37 Observe the innocent, consider the honest, for the lover of peace wil not lack children.	37 Regarde le parfait, vois l'homme droit: il y a pour le pacifique une postérité;
38 But the wicked wil al be destroyed together, and their children annihilated.	38 mais les pécheurs seront tous anéantis, la postérité des impies extirpée.
39 The upright have Yahweh for their Saviour, their refuge in times of trouble;	39 Le salut des justes vient de Yahvé, leur lieu fort au temps de l'angoisse;
40 Yahweh helps them and rescues them, he wil rescue them from the wicked, and save them becausethey take refuge in him.	40 Yahvé les aide et les délivre, il les délivrera des impies, il les sauvera quand ils s'abritent en lui.
