NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Why, Yahweh, do you keep so distant, stay hidden in times of trouble?	1 Perché, o Signore, te ne stai lontano, ti tieni nascosto nei tempi di angustia?
2 In his pride the wicked hunts down the weak, who is caught in the schemes he devises.	2 Con arroganza l'empio opprime il misero: siano presi nei piani che hanno tramato.
3 The wicked is proud of his inmost desires, by his blasphemies the grasping spurns Yahweh,	3 Poiché si gloriò il malvagio per i desideri della sua anima e l'avaro si proclamò beato.
4 the wicked in his arrogance does not look very far; 'There is no God,' is his only thought.	4 Il malvagio disprezzò il Signore nella sua arroganza: "Egli non investigherà: non c'è Dio!". Questi sono tutti i suoi pensieri.

14 You have seen for yourself the trouble and vexation, you watch so as to take it in hand. Theoppressed relies on you; you are the only recourse of the orphan.	14 Sì, tu hai visto fatica e afflizione e stai all'erta per ripagarle con la tua mano. A te s'abbandona il debole: il protettore dell'orfano tu sei.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil, seek out wickedness til there is none left to be found.	15 Spezza il braccio dell'empio e del malvagio e punisci la loro malizia, in modo che più non compaia.
16 Yahweh is king for ever and ever, the heathen has vanished from his country.	16 Re è il Signore, in eterno e per sempre, le genti sono scomparse dalla sua terra.
17 Yahweh, you listen to the laments of the poor, you give them courage, you grant them a hearing,	17 Il clamore dei poveri tu odi, o Signore, tu rinfranchi il loro cuore, tu protendi il tuo orecchio.
18 to give judgement for the orphaned and exploited, so that earthborn humans may strike terror nomore.	18 Se tu difendi l'orfano e l'oppresso, mai più avverrà che incuta timore un uomo della terra.
