1 Why, Yahweh, do you keep so distant, stay hidden in times of trouble?	1 למה יהוה תעמד ברחוק תעלים לעתות בצרה
2 In his pride the wicked hunts down the weak, who is caught in the schemes he devises.	2 בגאות רשע ידלק עני יתפשו במזמות זו חשבו
3 The wicked is proud of his inmost desires, by his blasphemies the grasping spurns Yahweh,	3 כי הלל רשע על תאות נפשו ובצע ברך נאץ יהוה
4 the wicked in his arrogance does not look very far; 'There is no God,' is his only thought.	4 רשע כגבה אפו בל ידרש אין אלהים כל מזמותיו
5 In al circumstances his step is assured; your judgements are above his head. His rivals? He scoffs atthem al .	5 יחילו דרכו בכל עת מרום משפטיך מנגדו כל צורריו יפיח בהם
6 He says in his heart, 'I shall never be shaken,' free of trouble himself,	6 אמר בלבו בל אמוט לדר ודר אשר לא ברע
7 he wishes it on others. His speech is full of lies and browbeating, under his tongue lurk spite andwickedness.	7 אלה פיהו מלא ומרמות ותך תחת לשונו עמל ואון
8 In the undergrowth he lies in ambush, in his hiding-place he murders the innocent. He watches intentlyfor the downtrodden,	8 ישב במארב חצרים במסתרים יהרג נקי עיניו לחלכה יצפנו
9 lurking unseen like a lion in his lair, lurking to pounce on the poor; he pounces on him and drags himoff in his net.	9 יארב במסתר כאריה בסכה יארב לחטוף עני יחטף עני במשכו ברשתו
10 He keeps watch, crouching down low, the poor wretch falls into his clutches;	10 ודכה ישח ונפל בעצומיו חלכאים
11 he says in his heart, 'God forgets, he has turned away his face to avoid seeing the end.'	11 אמר בלבו שכח אל הסתיר פניו בל ראה לנצח
12 Rise, Yahweh! God, raise your hand, do not forget the afflicted!	12 קומה יהוה אל נשא ידך אל תשכח עניים
13 Why should the wicked spurn God, assuring himself you wil never follow it up?	13 על מה נאץ רשע אלהים אמר בלבו לא תדרש
14 You have seen for yourself the trouble and vexation, you watch so as to take it in hand. Theoppressed relies on you; you are the only recourse of the orphan.	14 ראתה כי אתה עמל וכעס תביט לתת בידך עליך יעזב חלכה יתום אתה היית עוזר
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil, seek out wickedness til there is none left to be found.	15 שבר זרוע רשע ורע תדרוש רשעו בל תמצא
16 Yahweh is king for ever and ever, the heathen has vanished from his country.	16 יהוה מלך עולם ועד אבדו גוים מארצו
17 Yahweh, you listen to the laments of the poor, you give them courage, you grant them a hearing,	17 תאות ענוים שמעת יהוה תכין לבם תקשיב אזנך
18 to give judgement for the orphaned and exploited, so that earthborn humans may strike terror nomore.	18 לשפט יתום ודך בל יוסיף עוד לערץ אנוש מן הארץ
