NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens:
'Tel the Israelites to set aside a contribution for me; you wil accept a contribution from everyonewhose heart prompts him to give it.2 “ Loquere filiis Israel, ut tollant mihi donaria; ab omni homine, qui offert ultroneus, accipietis ea.
And this is what you wil accept from them: gold, silver and bronze;3 Haec sunt autem, quae accipere debetis: aurum et argentum et aes,
materials dyed violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, fine linen, goats' hair;4 hyacinthum et purpuram coccumque et byssum, pilos caprarum
rams' skins dyed red, fine leather, acacia wood;5 et pelles arietum rubricatas pellesque delphini et ligna acaciae,
oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and fragrant incense;6 oleum ad luminaria concinnanda, aromata in unguentum et in thymiama boni odoris,
cornelian and other stones to be set in the ephod and breastplate.7 lapides onychinos et gemmas ad ornandum ephod ac pectorale.
Make me a sanctuary so that I can reside among them.8 Facientque mihi sanctuarium, et habitabo in medio eorum.
You will make it al according to the design for the Dwel ing and the design for its furnishings which Ishall now show you.9 Iuxta omnem similitudinem habitaculi, quam ostendam tibi, et omnium vasorum in cultum eius: sicque facietis illud.
'You must make me an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide andone and a half cubits high.10 Arcam de lignis acaciae compingent; cuius longitudo habeat duos semis cubitos, latitudo cubitum et dimidium, altitudo cubitum similiter ac semissem.
You wil overlay it, inside and out, with pure gold and make a gold moulding al round it.11 Et deaurabis eam auro mundissimo intus et foris; faciesque supra coronam auream per circuitum
You wil cast four gold rings for it and fix them to its four supports: two rings on one side and tworings on the other.12 et conflabis ei quattuor circulos aureos, quos pones in quattuor arcae pedibus: duo circuli sint in latere uno et duo in altero.
You wil also make shafts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold13 Facies quoque vectes de lignis acaciae et operies eos auro;
and pass the shafts through the rings on the sides of the ark, by which to carry it.14 inducesque per circulos, qui sunt in arcae lateribus, ut portetur in eis;
The shafts wil stay in the rings of the ark and not be withdrawn.15 qui semper erunt in circulis nec umquam extrahentur ab eis.
Inside the ark you wil put the Testimony which I am about to give you.16 Ponesque in arcam testimonium, quod dabo tibi.
'You wil also make a mercy-seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubitswide,17 Facies et propitiatorium de auro mundissimo; duos cubitos et dimidium tenebit longitudo eius, et cubitum ac semissem latitudo.
and you wil model two great winged creatures of beaten gold, you wil make them at the two ends ofthe mercy-seat.18 Duos quoque cherubim aureos et productiles facies ex utraque parte propitiatorii,
Model one of the winged creatures at one end and the other winged creature at the other end; youwil model the winged creatures of a piece with the mercy-seat at either end.19 cherub unus sit in latere uno et alter in altero; ex propitiatorio facies cherubim in utraque parte eius.
The winged creatures must have their wings spread upwards, protecting the mercy-seat with theirwings and facing each other, their faces being towards the mercy-seat.20 Expandent alas sursum et operient alis suis propitiatorium; respicientque se mutuo, versis vultibus in propitiatorium,
You wil put the mercy-seat on the top of the ark, and inside the ark you will put the Testimony which Iam about to give you.21 quo operienda est arca, in qua pones testimonium, quod dabo tibi.
There I shall come to meet you; from above the mercy-seat, from between the two winged creatureswhich are on the ark of the Testimony, I shall give you al my orders for the Israelites.22 Et conveniam te ibi et loquar ad te supra propitiatorium de medio duorum cherubim, qui erunt super arcam testimonii, cuncta, quae mandabo per te filiis Israel.
'You must also make a table of acacia wood, two cubits long, one cubit wide and one and a halfcubits high.23 Facies et mensam de lignis acaciae habentem duos cubitos longitudinis et in latitudine cubitum et in altitudine cubitum ac semissem.
You wil overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold moulding al round it.24 Et inaurabis eam auro purissimo; faciesque illi coronam auream per circuitum.
You wil fit it with struts of a hand's breadth and make a gold moulding round the struts.25 Facies quoque ei limbum altum quattuor digitis per circuitum et super illum coronam auream.
You wil make four gold rings for it and fix the four rings at the four corners where the four legs are.26 Quattuor quoque circulos aureos praeparabis et pones eos in quattuor angulis eiusdem mensae per singulos pedes.
The rings must lie close to the struts to hold the shafts for carrying the table.27 Iuxta limbum erunt circuli aurei, ut mittantur vectes per eos, et possit mensa portari.
You must make the shafts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. The table must be carried bythese.28 Ipsosque vectes facies de lignis acaciae et circumdabis auro, et per ipsos subvehitur mensa.
You must make dishes, cups, jars and libation bowls for it; you must make these of pure gold,29 Parabis et acetabula ac phialas, vasa et cyathos, in quibus offerenda sunt libamina, ex auro purissimo.
and on the table, in my presence, you wil always put the loaves of permanent offering.30 Et pones super mensam panes propositionis in conspectu meo semper.
'You wil also make a lamp-stand of pure gold; the lamp-stand must be of beaten gold, base andstem. Its cups, calyxes and petals, must be of a piece with it.31 Facies et candelabrum ductile de auro mundissimo: basis et hastile eius, scyphi et sphaerulae ac flores in unum efformentur.
Six branches must spring from its sides: three of the lamp-stand's branches from one side, three ofthe lamp-stand's branches from the other.32 Sex calami egredientur de lateribus, tres ex uno latere et tres ex altero.
The first branch must carry three cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and petals;the second branch, too, must carry three cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and bud, andsimilarly for all six branches springing from the lamp-stand.33 Tres scyphi quasi in nucis modum in calamo uno sphaerulaeque simul et flores; et tres similiter scyphi instar nucis in calamo altero sphaerulaeque simul et flores: hoc erit opus sex calamorum, qui producendi sunt de hastili.
The lamp-stand itself must carry four cups shaped like almond blossoms, each with its calyx and bud:34 In ipso autem hastili candelabri erunt quattuor scyphi in nucis modum sphaerulaeque et flores.
one calyx under the first two branches springing from the lamp-stand, one calyx under the next pairof branches and one calyx under the last pair of branches -- thus for al six branches springing from the lamp-stand.35 Singulae sphaerulae sub binis calamis per tria loca, qui simul sex fiunt, procedentes de hastili uno.
The calyxes and the branches wil be of a piece with the lamp-stand, and the whole made from asingle piece of pure gold, beaten out.36 Sphaerulae igitur et calami unum cum ipso erunt, totum ductile de auro purissimo.
You wil also make seven lamps for it and mount the lamps in such a way that they light up the spacein front of it.37 Facies et lucernas septem et pones eas super candelabrum, ut luceant in locum ex adverso.
The snuffers and trays must be of pure gold.38 Emunctoria quoque et vasa, in quibus emuncta condantur, fient de auro purissimo.
You wil use a talent of pure gold for the lamp-stand and al its accessories;39 Omne pondus candelabri cum universis vasis suis habebit talentum auri purissimi.
and see that you work to the design which was shown you on the mountain.'40 Inspice et fac secundum exemplar, quod tibi in monte monstratum est.
