1 The Israelites listed according to heads of families, commanders of thousands and hundreds, withtheir officials in the king's service who dealt with al matters affecting the companies on monthly duty, month bymonth throughout the year, each company consisting of twenty-four thousand men:1 Filii autem Israël secundum numerum suum, principes familiarum, tribuni, et centuriones, et præfecti, qui ministrabant regi juxta turmas suas, ingredientes et egredientes per singulos menses in anno, viginti quatuor millibus singuli præerant.
2 The commander of the first company detailed for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel,whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.2 Primæ turmæ in primo mense Jesboam præerat filius Zabdiel, et sub eo viginti quatuor millia ;
3 He belonged to the family of Perez and was the senior military officer of al those detailed for the firstmonth.3 de filiis Phares, princeps cunctorum principum in exercitu mense primo.
4 The commander of the company for the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.4 Secundi mensis habebat turmam Dudia Ahohites, et post se alter nomine Macelloth, qui regebat partem exercitus viginti quatuor millium.
5 The officer commanding the third body of men for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, thechief priest, whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.5 Dux quoque turmæ tertiæ in mense tertio erat Banaias filius Jojadæ sacerdos : et in divisione sua viginti quatuor millia.
6 This was the Benaiah who was an important member of the Thirty and his company. His son wasAmmizabad.6 Ipse est Banaias fortissimus inter triginta, et super triginta : præerat autem turmæ ipsius Amizabad filius ejus.
7 The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel brother of Joab, and his son Zebadiah after him, whosecompany consisted of twenty-four thousand men.7 Quartus, mense quarto, Asahel frater Joab, et Zabadias filius ejus post eum : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

10 The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, one of the Ephraimites, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.10 Septimus, mense septimo, Helles Phallonites de filiis Ephraim : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

12 The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.12 Nonus, mense nono, Abiezer Anathothites de filiis Jemini : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.
13 The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netophah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.13 Decimus, mense decimo, Marai, et ipse Netophathites de stirpe Zarai : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.
14 The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah of Pirathon, an Ephraimite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.14 Undecimus, mense undecimo, Banaias Pharathonites de filiis Ephraim : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.
15 The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai of Netophah, of Othniel, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.15 Duodecimus, mense duodecimo, Holdai Netophathites, de stirpe Gothoniel : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.
16 Responsible for the tribes of Israel were chief Eliezer son of Zichri for the Reubenites, Shephatiahson of Maacah for the Simeonites,16 Porro tribubus præerant Israël, Rubenitis, dux Eliezer filius Zechri : Simeonitis, dux Saphatias filius Maacha :
17 Hashabiah son of Kemuel for the Levites, Zadok for the Aaronites,17 Levitis, Hasabias filius Camuel : Aaronitis, Sadoc :
18 Elihu, one of David's brothers, for Judah, Omri son of Michael for Issachar,18 Juda, Eliu frater David : Issachar, Amri filius Michaël.
19 Ishmaiah son of Obadiah for Zebulun, Jerimoth son of Azriel for Naphtali,19 Zabulonitis, Jesmaias filius Abdiæ : Nephthalitibus, Jerimoth filius Ozriel :
20 Hoshea son of Azaziah for the Ephraimites, Joel son of Pedaiah for the half-tribe of Manasseh,20 filiis Ephraim, Osee filius Ozaziu : dimidiæ tribui Manasse, Joël filius Phadaiæ :
21 Iddo son of Zechariah for the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Jaasiel son of Abner for Benjamin,21 et dimidiæ tribui Manasse in Galaad, Jaddo filius Zachariæ : Benjamin autem, Jasiel filius Abner :
22 and Azarel son of Jeroham for Dan. These were the tribal chiefs of Israel.22 Dan vero, Ezrihel filius Jeroham : hi principes filiorum Israël.
23 Now in the census David did not include those who were twenty years old and under, since Yahwehhad promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.23 Noluit autem David numerare eos a viginti annis inferius : quia dixerat Dominus ut multiplicaret Israël quasi stellas cæli.
24 Joab son of Zeruiah began the count but never finished. 25 Overseer of the king's supplies: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Overseer of supplies in the countryside,towns, vil ages and fortresses: Jonathan son of Uzziah.25 Super thesauros autem regis fuit Azmoth filius Adiel : his autem thesauris, qui erant in urbibus, et in vicis, et in turribus, præsidebat Jonathan filius Oziæ.
26 Overseer of the farmers who til ed the land: Ezri son of Chelub.26 Operi autem rustico, et agricolis qui exercebant terram, præerat Ezri filius Chelub :
27 Overseer of vineyards: Shimei of Ramah. Overseer of those in the vineyards who looked after thewine cellars: Zabdi of Shepham.27 vinearumque cultoribus, Semeias Romathites : cellis autem vinariis, Zabdias Aphonites.
28 Overseer of olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah: Baal-Hanan of Geder. Overseer of oilsupplies: Joash.28 Nam super oliveta et ficeta quæ erant in campestribus, Balanam Gederites : super apothecas autem olei, Joas.
29 Overseer of cattle at pasture in the plains of Sharon: Shitrai of Sharon. Overseer of cattle in theval eys: Shaphat son of Adlai.29 Porro armentis quæ pascebantur in Saron, præpositus fuit Setrai Saronites : et super boves in vallibus, Saphat filius Adli :

31 Overseer of donkeys: Jehdeiah of Meranoth. Overseer of flocks: Jaziz the Hagrite. Al the abovesupervised the property belonging to King David.31 super oves quoque, Jaziz Agareus : omnes hi, principes substantiæ regis David.
32 Jonathan, David's uncle, a council or, wise man and scribe, and Jehiel son of Hachmoni took care ofthe king's sons.32 Jonathan autem patruus David, consiliarius, vir prudens et litteratus : ipse et Jahiel filius Hachamoni erant cum filiis regis.
33 Ahitophel was the king's counsellor and Hushai, the Archite, was Friend of the King.33 Achitophel etiam consiliarius regis, et Chusai Arachites amicus regis.
34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahitophel -- Joab was commander of the king'sarmy.34 Post Achitophel fuit Jojada filius Banaiæ, et Abiathar. Princeps autem exercitus regis erat Joab.
