1 The Israelites listed according to heads of families, commanders of thousands and hundreds, withtheir officials in the king's service who dealt with al matters affecting the companies on monthly duty, month bymonth throughout the year, each company consisting of twenty-four thousand men:	1 Izrael fiai, a családfők, az ezredesek, a századosok, az elöljárók, akik csapataik szerint szolgáltak a királynak, s az esztendő egy-egy hónapjában vonultak ki és be, és egyenkint huszonnégyezer ember élén álltak, számuk szerint a következők voltak.
2 The commander of the first company detailed for the first month was Jashobeam son of Zabdiel,whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.	2 Az első csapat élén, az első hónapban, Jesboám, Zábdiel fia állt; huszonnégyezer embere volt.
3 He belonged to the family of Perez and was the senior military officer of al those detailed for the firstmonth.	3 Fáresz fiai közül való volt, s ő volt a sereg valamennyi vezérének vezére az első hónapban.
4 The commander of the company for the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.	4 A második hónap csapatát az áhohita Dúdia vezérelte; helyettesét Miklótnak hívták. Huszonnégyezer emberből álló seregrésznek parancsolt.
5 The officer commanding the third body of men for the third month was Benaiah son of Jehoiada, thechief priest, whose company consisted of twenty-four thousand men.	5 A harmadik seregnek, a harmadik hónapban Benája, Jojáda pap fia volt a vezére; csapatában huszonnégyezer ember volt.
6 This was the Benaiah who was an important member of the Thirty and his company. His son wasAmmizabad.	6 Ez a Benája igen vitéz volt a harminc között, sőt a harminc felett volt; csapatának élén fia, Amizábád állt.

12 The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer of Anathoth, a Benjaminite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.	12 A kilencedik, a kilencedik hónapban, a Jemini fiai közül való, anatóti Abiézer volt; csapatában huszonnégyezer ember volt.
13 The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netophah, a Zerahite, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.	13 A tizedik, a tizedik hónapban, a netofáti Maráj volt. Ő is a Zaráhi nemzetségből való volt, csapatában huszonnégyezer ember volt.
14 The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah of Pirathon, an Ephraimite, whose companyconsisted of twenty-four thousand men.	14 A tizenegyedik, a tizenegyedik hónapban, az Efraim fiai közül való, fárátoni Benája volt; csapatában huszonnégyezer ember volt.
15 The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai of Netophah, of Othniel, whose company consisted oftwenty-four thousand men.	15 A tizenkettedik, a tizenkettedik hónapban, a Gotoniel nemzetségéből való, netofáti Holdáj volt; csapatában huszonnégyezer ember volt.
16 Responsible for the tribes of Israel were chief Eliezer son of Zichri for the Reubenites, Shephatiahson of Maacah for the Simeonites,	16 Izrael törzseinek élén álltak: a rúbeniták élén Eliézer vezér, Zekri fia, a simeoniták élén Safátja vezér, Maáka fia,
17 Hashabiah son of Kemuel for the Levites, Zadok for the Aaronites,	17 a leviták élén Hásabja, Kámuel fia, az ároniták élén Szádok,

22 and Azarel son of Jeroham for Dan. These were the tribal chiefs of Israel.	22 Dán élén pedig Ezriél, Jerohám fia. Ezek voltak Izrael fiainak vezetői.
23 Now in the census David did not include those who were twenty years old and under, since Yahwehhad promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.	23 A húszesztendősnél fiatalabbakat Dávid nem akarta megszámláltatni, mert az Úr azt mondta, hogy úgy megsokasítja Izraelt, mint az ég csillagait.
24 Joab son of Zeruiah began the count but never finished. This is why retribution came upon Israel,and the number did not come up to that recorded in the annals of King David.	24 Joáb, Száruja fia megkezdte a számlálást, de be nem végezte, mert emiatt harag zúdult Izraelre. Éppen azért a megszámláltak száma nem került be Dávid király jegyzékeibe.
25 Overseer of the king's supplies: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Overseer of supplies in the countryside,towns, vil ages and fortresses: Jonathan son of Uzziah.	25 A király kincseinek felügyelője Azmót, Adiél fia volt, a városokban, a falvakban, a tornyokban levő kincseknek a gondviselője pedig Jonatán, Ozija fia volt.
26 Overseer of the farmers who til ed the land: Ezri son of Chelub.	26 A falusi munkák és a földművelő mezei munkások élén Ezri, Kelub fia állt.
27 Overseer of vineyards: Shimei of Ramah. Overseer of those in the vineyards who looked after thewine cellars: Zabdi of Shepham.	27 A szőlőművesek élén a romátita Semeja állt, a borosházak felügyelője pedig az áfonita Zabdiás volt.
28 Overseer of olive and sycamore trees in the Shephelah: Baal-Hanan of Geder. Overseer of oilsupplies: Joash.	28 A Mezőségen elterülő olaj- és fügefa-kertek felügyelője a gederita Balanám volt, az olajtárházak felett pedig Joás állt.
29 Overseer of cattle at pasture in the plains of Sharon: Shitrai of Sharon. Overseer of cattle in theval eys: Shaphat son of Adlai.	29 A Sáronon legelő csordák felügyelője a sároni Setráj volt, a völgyekben levő szarvasmarhák felett Sáfát, Ádli fia volt,
30 Overseer of camels: Obil the Ishmaelite.	30 a tevék felett az izmaelita Ubil, a szamarak felett a meronátita Jehdeja,
31 Overseer of donkeys: Jehdeiah of Meranoth. Overseer of flocks: Jaziz the Hagrite. Al the abovesupervised the property belonging to King David.	31 a juhok felett pedig az agarita Jáziz. Ez volt Dávid király jószágának összes felügyelője.
32 Jonathan, David's uncle, a council or, wise man and scribe, and Jehiel son of Hachmoni took care ofthe king's sons.	32 Jonatán, Dávid atyai nagybátyja tanácsos volt, értelmes és írástudó ember. Ő és Jáhiel, Hakámoni fia voltak a király fiai mellett.
33 Ahitophel was the king's counsellor and Hushai, the Archite, was Friend of the King.	33 Ahitófel szintén tanácsosa volt a királynak, az arákita Húsáj pedig a király barátja.
34 Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar succeeded Ahitophel -- Joab was commander of the king'sarmy.	34 Ahitófel után Jojáda, Benája fia és Abjatár következett. A király hadseregének vezére Joáb volt.
