1 As regards the orders of the gatekeepers: Of the Korahites there was Meshelemiah son of Kore, oneof the sons of Ebiasaph,1 Divisiones autem ianitorum.
De Coritis: Meselemia filius Core de filiis Abiasaph.
2 and Meshelemiah's sons: Zechariah the first-born, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel thefourth,2 Filii Meselemiae: Zacharias primogenitus, Iedihel secundus, Zabadias tertius, Iathanael quartus,
3 Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Elioenai the seventh.3 Elam quintus, Iohanan sextus, Elioenai septimus.
4 Obed-Edom's sons were: Shemaiah the first-born, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar thefourth, Nethanel the fifth,4 Filii autem Obededom: Semeias primogenitus, Iozabad secundus, Ioah tertius, Sachar quartus, Nathanael quintus,
5 Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peul ethai the eighth; God had indeed blessed him.5 Ammiel sextus, Issachar septimus, Phollathi octavus, quia benedixit illi Deus.
6 His son Shemaiah also had sons who wielded authority in their family, because they were men ofoutstanding quality.6 Semeiae autem filio eius nati sunt filii praefecti familiarum suarum, erant enim viri fortissimi;
7 The sons of Shemaiah were: Othni, Rephael, Obed and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu andSemachiah were outstanding men.7 filii ergo Semeiae: Othni et Raphael et Obed, Elzabad, fratres eius viri fortissimi, Eliu quoque et Samachias;
8 Al these were sons of Obed-Edom, who with their sons and brothers were men of standing, wel fittedfor their task. Obed-Edom had sixty-two.8 omnes hi de filiis Obededom, ipsi et filii et fratres eorum fortissimi ad ministrandum sexaginta duo de Obededom.
9 Meshelemiah had eighteen outstanding sons and brothers.9 Porro Meselemiae filii et fratres eorum robustissimi decem et octo.
10 Hosah, one of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri was the first, for although he was not the first-born his father had made him the chief.10 De Hosa autem, de filiis Merari, erant filii: Semri princeps — non enim fuerat primogenitus, et idcirco posuerat eum pater eius in principem —
11 Hilkiah was the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: Hosah had thirteen sons andbrothers in al .11 Helcias secundus, Tabelias tertius, Zacharias quartus; omnes hi filii et fratres Hosa tredecim.
12 These orders of gatekeepers, al ocated according to their headmen, had duties, just like theirbrothers, of serving in the house of Yahweh.12 Hae divisiones ianitorum: secundum capita virorum habebant ministeria sicut et fratres eorum ad ministrandum in domo Domini.
13 Similarly, they drew lots for each gate, whether their families were large or small.13 Missae sunt ergo sortes ex aequo et parvis et magnis per familias suas in unamquamque portarum.
14 For the eastern one, the lot fel to Shelemiah; and when they drew lots for Zechariah his son, ashrewd counsel or, his lot came out for the north.14 Cecidit igitur sors orientalis Selemiae; porro Zachariae filio eius consiliario prudentissimo et erudito sortito obtigit plaga septentrionalis;
15 To Obed-Edom went the south, and to his sons the storehouses.15 Obededom vero australis, et filiis eius horreum;
16 To Shuppim and Hosah went the west with the Gate of the Fel ed Tree-trunk on the upper road. Thecorresponding guards were as fol ows:16 Sephim et Hosa occidentalis iuxta portam Sallecheth apud viam ascensionis. Custodia iuxta custodiam:
17 for the east gate, six per day; for the north gate, four per day; for the south gate, four per day; for thestorehouses, two each;17 ad orientem per diem sex et ad aquilonem quattuor per diem, atque ad meridiem similiter in die quattuor et pro horreo bini et bini,
18 for the Parbar at the west gate, four by the road and two for the Parbar.18 pro Parbar quoque ad occidentem quattuor in via, duo pro Parbar.
19 These were the orders of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and the sons of Merari.19 Hae sunt divisiones ianitorum filiorum Core et Merari.
20 The Levites, their brothers, who were responsible for the treasures of the house of God and for thetreasures of consecrated gifts,20 Porro Levitae fratres eorum super thesauros domus Dei ac thesauros rerum consecratarum.
21 were the sons of Ladan and belonged to the Gershonites -- the heads of the families of Ladan weredescended from Ladan the Gershonite -- that is to say, the Jehielites.21 De filiis Ladan Gersonitae principes familiarum Ladan Gersonitae erant Iahielitae.
22 The sons of the Jehielites, Zetham and Joel his brother, were responsible for the treasures of thehouse of Yahweh.22 Filii Iahiel et Zetham et Ioel fratrum eius erant super thesauros domus Domini.
23 Over the Amramites, Izharites, Hebronites, and Uzzielites23 De Amramitis et Isaaritis et Hebronitis et Ozielitis:
24 was Shebuel son of Gershom, son of Moses, who was governor of the treasures;24 Subael filius Gersam filii Moysi praepositus thesauris.
25 and his brothers of the line of Eliezer were Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichrihis son and Shelomoth his son.25 Fratres quoque eius Eliezer, cuius filius Rohobia et huius filius Iesaias; et huius filius Ioram, huius quoque filius Zechri et huius filius Selemith.
26 This Shelomoth and his kinsmen were responsible for al the consecrated treasures dedicated byKing David, by the heads of families, by the commanders of the thousands and hundreds and by thecommanders of the army,26 Ipse Selemith et fratres eius super omnes thesauros rerum consecratarum, quas sanctificavit David rex et principes familiarum et tribuni et centuriones et duces exercitus
27 who had dedicated a part of the spoils of war to the service of the house of Yahweh,27 de bellis et manubiis proeliorum, quas consecraverant ad sustentandum templum Domini.
28 and also for al that Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiahhad dedicated. In fact, whatever was dedicated was the responsibility of Shelomoth and his kinsmen.28 Et universa, quae consecraverant Samuel videns et Saul filius Cis et Abner filius Ner et Ioab filius Sarviae, omnia donaria sacra erant sub manu Selemith et fratrum eius.
29 Of the Izharites, Chananiah and his sons were assigned to secular duties for Israel as officials andjudges.29 De Isaaritis vero erant Chonenias et filii eius ad opera forinsecus super Israel praefecti et iudices.
30 Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his kinsmen, one thousand seven hundred outstanding men werein charge of Israel west of Jordan in everything pertaining to Yahweh and to the service of the king.30 Porro de Hebronitis Hasabias et fratres eius viri strenui mille septingenti erant magistratus Israel trans Iordanem contra occidentem in cunctis operibus Domini et in ministerium regis;
31 Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was the head. In the fortieth year of David's reign research was done onthe lineage and relationships of the Hebronites, and men of outstanding quality from among them were found atJazer in Gilead.31 Hebronitarum autem princeps fuit Ieria secundum cognationes et familias eorum. 32 There were twenty-seven hundred outstanding men, heads of families, whom King David put incharge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh in al matters pertaining to God and theking.32 fratresque eius viri strenui duo milia septingenti principes familiarum; praeposuit autem eos David rex Rubenitis et Gadditis et dimidio tribus Manasse in omne ministerium Dei et regis.
