1 In the seventeenth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Uzziah son of Amaziah became king of Judah.	1 L'anno ventisettesimo di Geroboamo, re d'Israele, Azaria, figlio di Amazia, divenne re di Giuda.
2 He was sixteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem.His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.	2 Al suo avvento al trono egli aveva sedici anni e regnò cinquantadue anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Iecolia, di Gerusalemme.

4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 Tuttavia le alture non furono rimosse, di modo che il popolo continuava a offrire sacrifici e a bruciare incenso sulle alture.
5 But Yahweh struck the king, and he was afflicted with a virulent skin-disease til his dying day. He livedconfined to his room, while Jotham the king's son, who was master of the palace, governed the country.	5 Il Signore perciò percosse il re che fu lebbroso fino al giorno della sua morte. 9 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his fathers had done; he did not give up the sins into whichJeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel. 12 This was the word which Yahweh had spoken to Jehu, 'Your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to thefourth generation.' 14 Then Menahem son of Gadi marched from Tirzah, entered Samaria, murdered Shal um son of Jabeshthere and succeeded him.	14 Menachem, figlio di Gadi, salì da Tirza e venne a Samaria. Qui colpì Sallùm, figlio di Iabes, e, avendolo ucciso, regnò al suo posto.

19 Pul king of Assyria invaded the country. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in return for his support in strengthening his hold on the royal power.	19 Nei giorni suoi Pul, re di Assiria, marciò contro il paese. Allora Menachem diede a Pul mille talenti d'argento, affinché lo aiutasse a consolidare nella sua mano il potere regale.
20 Menahem levied this sum from Israel, from al the men of rank, at the rate of fifty shekels a head, tobe given to the king of Assyria, who then withdrew and did not stay in the country.	20 Menachem fece sborsare il denaro da Israele, cioè da tutti i benestanti, nella misura di cinquanta sicli d'argento a testa, per darlo al re d'Assiria. 29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead and Galilee -- the whole territory of Naphtali and deported thepopulation to Assyria.	29 Al tempo di Pekach, re d'Israele, Tiglat-Pilèzer, re di Assiria, venne e s'impadronì di Ijjon, Abel-Bet-Maaca, Ianoach, Kades, Azor, Gàlaad, la Galilea, l'intera regione di Neftali e ne deportò gli abitanti in Assiria.
30 Hoshea son of Elah hatched a plot against Pekah son of Remaliah; he murdered the king andsucceeded him.	30 Osea, figlio di Ela, ordì una congiura contro Pekach, figlio di Romelia, lo colpì e, dopo averlo ucciso, divenne re al suo posto.

38 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, his ancestor; his sonAhaz succeeded him.	38 Iotam s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu sepolto con loro nella città di Davide suo padre. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Acaz.
