1 In the seventeenth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Uzziah son of Amaziah became king of Judah.	1 Jeroboámnak, Izrael királyának huszonhetedik esztendejében lett Azarja, Amaszjának, Júda királyának fia, királlyá.
2 He was sixteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem.His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.	2 Tizenhat esztendős volt, amikor uralkodni kezdett s ötvenkét esztendeig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben. Anyját, aki jeruzsálemi volt, Jekeljának hívták.
3 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Amaziah had done.	3 Azt cselekedte, ami igaz az Úr előtt, egészen úgy, ahogy apja, Amaszja cselekedett.
4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.	4 Mindazonáltal a magaslatokat nem rontotta le, s a nép továbbra is a magaslatokon áldozott és gyújtott illatot.
5 But Yahweh struck the king, and he was afflicted with a virulent skin-disease til his dying day. He livedconfined to his room, while Jotham the king's son, who was master of the palace, governed the country.	5 Ám az Úr megverte a királyt, s az poklossá lett halála napjáig. Egy magánházban, elkülönítve lakott, és Jótám, a király fia kormányozta a palotát, s ítélte a föld népét.

7 Then Uzziah fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Jotham thensucceeded him.	7 Amikor aztán Azarja aludni tért atyáihoz, eltemették őseihez Dávid városában, s fia, Jótám lett a király helyette.
8 In the thirty-eighth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel inSamaria for six months.	8 Azarjának, Júda királyának harmincnyolcadik esztendejétől Zakariás, Jeroboám fia uralkodott Izraelen, hat hónapig Szamariában.
9 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his fathers had done; he did not give up the sins into whichJeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel. Shal um son of Jabesh plotted against him, murdered him at Ibleam,	9 Azt cselekedte, ami gonosz az Úr előtt, úgy, ahogy atyái cselekedtek, nem távozott Jeroboámnak, Nábát fiának bűneitől, aki vétekre vitte Izraelt.
10 and succeeded him.	10 Sallum, Jábes fia azonban összeesküdött ellene s a nyilvánosság előtt leütötte és megölte s király lett helyette.

12 This was the word which Yahweh had spoken to Jehu, 'Your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to thefourth generation.' And so it turned out.	12 Ez volt az Úr szava, amelyet Jéhuhoz szólt: »Negyedíziglen fognak ülni fiaid Izrael királyi székében.« Így is történt.
13 Shal um son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah and reigned forone month in Samaria.	13 Sallum, Jábes fia Azarjának, Júda királyának harminckilencedik esztendejében lett királlyá s egy hónapig uralkodott Szamariában.
14 Then Menahem son of Gadi marched from Tirzah, entered Samaria, murdered Shal um son of Jabeshthere and succeeded him.	14 Ekkor feljött Menahem, Gádi fia, Tircából s bement Szamariába és leütötte s megölte Sallumot, Jábes fiát Szamariában s király lett helyette.

16 Menahem then sacked Tappuah -- kil ing all who were in it -- and its territory from Tirzah onwards,because it had not opened its gates to him; he sacked the town and disembowel ed al the pregnant women.	16 Ekkoriban verte meg Menahem Tápszát s mindazokat, akik ott voltak s annak egész határát Tircától kezdve. Mivel nem akartak kaput nyitni előtte, megölte és felhasította ott az összes áldott állapotban levő asszonyt.
17 In the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel. Hereigned for ten years in Samaria.	17 Azarjának, Júda királyának harminckilencedik esztendejétől uralkodott Menahem, Gádi fia Izraelen tíz esztendeig Szamariában.
18 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel. In his days	18 Azt cselekedte, ami gonosz volt az Úr előtt: nem távozott Jeroboámnak, Nábát fiának bűneitől, aki bűnre vitte Izraelt egész ideje alatt.
19 Pul king of Assyria invaded the country. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in return for his support in strengthening his hold on the royal power.	19 Ekkoriban Fúl, az asszírok királya az országba jött s Menahem ezer talentum ezüstöt adott Fúlnak, hogy legyen segítségére és szilárdítsa meg királyságát.
20 Menahem levied this sum from Israel, from al the men of rank, at the rate of fifty shekels a head, tobe given to the king of Assyria, who then withdrew and did not stay in the country.	20 Menahem kivetette az ezüstöt Izraelre, minden tehetős és gazdag emberre, hogy az asszírok királyának adja, ötven sékel ezüstöt mindegyikre. Erre visszatért az asszírok királya s nem maradt az országban.

23 In the fiftieth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for two years.	23 Azarjának, Júda királyának ötvenedik esztendejétől uralkodott Pekahja, Menahem fia Izraelen, Szamariában két esztendeig.
24 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.	24 Azt cselekedte, ami gonosz volt az Úr előtt: nem távozott el Jeroboámnak, Nábát fiának bűneitől, aki bűnre vitte Izraelt.
25 Pekah son of Remaliah, his equerry, plotted against him and assassinated him in the palace keep . . .He had fifty Gileadites with him. He kil ed the king and succeeded him.	25 Pekah, Remalja fia, a főtisztje, azonban összeesküdött ellene s leütötte Szamariában, a királyi ház tornyában, őt, továbbá Agróbot és Arjét és a nála levő ötven embert a gileádiak fiai közül és miután megölte, királlyá lett helyette.

28 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.	28 Azt cselekedte, ami gonosz volt az Úr előtt: nem távozott Jeroboámnak, Nábát fiának bűneitől, aki bűnre vitte Izraelt.
29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead and Galilee -- the whole territory of Naphtali and deported thepopulation to Assyria.	29 Pekahnak, Izrael királyának napjaiban eljött Tiglatpilezer, Asszúr királya s elfoglalta Ájont, Ábel-házát, Maákát, Jánoét, Kedest, Hácort, Gileádot, Galileát és Naftali egész földjét s elvitte őket Asszíriába.
30 Hoshea son of Elah hatched a plot against Pekah son of Remaliah; he murdered the king andsucceeded him.	30 Végül is Hósea, Éla fia összeesküdött és cselt vetett Pekah, Remalja fia ellen s leütötte és megölte s király lett helyette Jótámnak, Uzija fiának huszadik esztendejében.

32 In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah became king ofJudah.	32 Pekahnak, Remalja fiának, Izrael királyának második esztendejében lett király Jótám, Uzijának, Júda királyának fia.
33 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.	33 Huszonöt esztendős volt, amikor uralkodni kezdett s tizenhat esztendeig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben. Anyját, aki Szádok lánya volt, Jerusának hívták.
34 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done.	34 Azt cselekedte, ami kedves volt az Úr előtt, egészen úgy cselekedett, mint ahogy apja, Uzija cselekedett.
35 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places. It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.	35 Mindazonáltal a magaslatokat nem távolította el. A nép továbbra is a magaslatokon áldozott és gyújtott illatot. Ő építtette az Úr házának felső kapuját.

37 At that time Yahweh began sending Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.	37 Ebben az időben kezdte az Úr Júdára bocsátani Rászint, Szíria királyát és Pekahot, Remalja fiát.
38 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, his ancestor; his sonAhaz succeeded him.	38 Amikor aztán Jótám aludni tért atyáihoz, eltemették melléjük atyjának, Dávidnak városában és fia, Ácház lett király helyette.
