2 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king ofIsrael in Samaria. He reigned for seventeen years.	1 No vigésimo terceiro ano do reinado de Joás, filho de Ocozias, rei de Judá, Joacaz, filho de Jeú, tornou-se rei de Israel em Samaria. Seu reinado durou dezessete anos.
2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and copied the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebat had ledIsrael; he did not give it up.	2 Fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor, imitando os pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, que fizera pecar Israel; e não se desviou deles.
3 This aroused Yahweh's anger against the Israelites, and he delivered them without respite into thepower of Hazael king of Aram and of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael.	3 Por isso a cólera do Senhor acendeu-se contra Israel, e ele entregou-o nas mãos de Hazael, rei da Síria, e de Ben-Hadad, filho de Hazael, durante todo esse período.
4 Jehoahaz, however, tried to placate Yahweh, and Yahweh heard him, for he had seen the oppressionwhich the king of Aram was inflicting on Israel.	4 Mas Joacaz rogou ao Senhor; e o Senhor, vendo como os filhos de Israel eram oprimidos pelo rei da Síria, ouviu-o,
5 Yahweh gave Israel a saviour who freed them from the grip of Aram, and the Israelites lived in theirtents as in the past.	5 e mandou aos israelitas um libertador. Libertados do poder do rei da Síria, puderam de novo habitar nas suas tendas.
6 But they did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam had led Israel; they persisted in it, and even thesacred pole stayed standing in Samaria.	6 Entretanto, não se apartaram dos pecados aos quais a casa de Jeroboão arrastara Israel, mas continuaram a cometê-los. E até mesmo o ídolo de asserá ficou de pé em Samaria.
7 Of Jehoahaz's army Yahweh left only fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. Theking of Aram had destroyed them, making them like dust trampled under foot.	7 Com efeito, o Senhor só deixou a Joacaz, como exército, cinqüenta cavaleiros, dez carros e dez mil soldados de infantaria; o rei da Síria lhe tinha aniquilado o resto e reduzido ao estado de pó, que se calça aos pés.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoahaz, his entire career, his prowess, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	8 O resto da história de Joacaz, seus atos e grandes feitos, tudo está consignado no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel.
9 Then Jehoahaz fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria; his son Joash succeededhim.	9 Joacaz adormeceu com seus pais e foi sepultado em Samaria. Joás, seu filho, sucedeu-lhe no trono.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for sixteen years.	10 No trigésimo sétimo ano do reinado de Joás, rei de Judá, Joás, filho de Joacaz, tornou-se rei de Israel em Samaria. Seu reino durou dezesseis anos.
11 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel; he persisted in it.	11 Fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor, e não se afastou dos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, que fizera pecar Israel, mas continuou a cometê-los.
12 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah king ofJudah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	12 O resto da história de Joás, seus atos e grandes feitos, a guerra que ele fez a Amasias, rei de Judá, tudo se acha consignado no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Israel.
13 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and Jeroboam ascended his throne. Joash was buried inSamaria with the kings of Israel.	13 Joás adormeceu com seus pais e Jeroboão sucedeu-lhe no trono. Joás foi sepultado em Samaria com os reis de Israel.
14 When Elisha had fal en il of the il ness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to himand shedding tears over him said, 'Father! Father! Chariot of Israel and its chargers!'	14 Eliseu fora atingido pela enfermidade de que devia morrer. Joás, rei de Israel, desceu para visitá-lo. {Inclinado} sobre o rosto do profeta, disse-lhe, chorando: Meu pai! Meu pai! Carro e cavalaria de Israel!
15 Elisha said to him, 'Bring bow and arrows,' and he sent for a bow and arrows.	15 Eliseu disse-lhe: Traze-me um arco e flechas. Joás trouxe-lhe um arco e flechas.
16 Then Elisha said to the king, 'Draw the bow,' and he drew it. Elisha put his hands over the hands ofthe king,	16 Põe a tua mão no arco. Tendo-o ele feito, Eliseu pôs suas mãos nas do rei,
17 then he said, 'Open the window towards the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' And heshot. Elisha said, 'Arrow of victory over Aram! You wil defeat Aram at Aphek-completely.'	17 dizendo: Abre a janela do lado do oriente. Joás abriu-a. Lança uma flecha, disse Eliseu. Ele lançou. Flecha de vitória para o Senhor, disse o profeta; flecha de vitória contra os sírios. Baterás os sírios em Afec até exterminá-los.
18 Elisha said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. Then he said to the king, 'Strike the ground,' and hestruck it three times, then stopped.	18 E ajuntou: Toma as flechas. Joás tomou-as. Fere a terra. O rei desfechou três golpes e parou.
19 At this the man of God grew angry with him. 'You should have struck half a dozen times,' he said, 'andyou would have beaten Aram completely; now you wil beat Aram only three times.'	19 O homem de Deus encolerizou-se contra ele, e disse: Seria preciso dar cinco ou seis golpes. Terias então batido os sírios até exterminá-los. Agora, porém, só os baterás três vezes!
20 Elisha died and was buried. Bands of Moabites were making incursions into the country every year.	20 Eliseu morreu e foi sepultado. Guerrilheiros moabitas faziam cada ano incursões na terra.
21 Some people happened to be carrying a man out for burial; at the sight of one of these bands, theyflung the man into the tomb of Elisha and made off. The man had no sooner touched the bones of Elisha than hecame to life and stood up on his feet.	21 Ora, aconteceu que um grupo de pessoas, estando a enterrar um homem, viu uma turma desses guerrilheiros e jogou o cadáver no túmulo de Eliseu. O morto, ao tocar os ossos de Eliseu, voltou à vida, e pôs-se de pé.
22 Hazael king of Aram had oppressed the Israelites throughout the lifetime of Jehoahaz,	22 Hazael, rei da Síria, tinha oprimido os filhos de Israel durante toda a vida de Joacaz.
23 but Yahweh was kind and took pity on them. Because of the covenant which he had made withAbraham, Isaac and Jacob, he relented towards them; he had no wish to destroy them, he did not cast them outof his presence.	23 Mas o Senhor compadeceu-se deles e usou de misericórdia para com eles; e deu-lhes de novo a sua graça, por causa de sua aliança com Abraão, Isaac e Jacó. O Senhor não os quis aniquilar, nem rejeitá-los de sua face.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and his son Ben-Hadad succeeded him.	24 Hazael, rei da Síria, morreu, e seu filho Ben-Hadad sucedeu-lhe no trono.
25 From Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured the towns which Hazael hadseized from his father Jehoahaz by force of arms. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelitetowns.	25 Joás, filho de Joacaz, retomou das mãos de Ben-Hadad, filho de Hazael, as cidades que este havia arrebatado ao seu pai. Joás bateu-o três vezes, e reconquistou as cidades de Israel.
