2 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king ofIsrael in Samaria. He reigned for seventeen years.	1 En la vingt-troisième année de Joas fils d'Ochozias, roi de Juda, Joachaz fils de Jéhu devint roi surIsraël à Samarie. Il régna dix-sept ans.
2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and copied the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebat had ledIsrael; he did not give it up.	2 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé et imita le péché de Jéroboam fils de Nebat, où celui-ci avait entraînéIsraël; il ne s'en détourna pas.
3 This aroused Yahweh's anger against the Israelites, and he delivered them without respite into thepower of Hazael king of Aram and of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael.	3 Alors la colère de Yahvé s'enflamma contre les Israélites et il les livra à Hazaël, roi d'Aram, et àBen-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, tout le temps.
4 Jehoahaz, however, tried to placate Yahweh, and Yahweh heard him, for he had seen the oppressionwhich the king of Aram was inflicting on Israel.	4 Mais Joachaz chercha à apaiser Yahvé, et Yahvé l'exauça, car il avait vu l'oppression que le roid'Aram faisait subir à Israël.
5 Yahweh gave Israel a saviour who freed them from the grip of Aram, and the Israelites lived in theirtents as in the past.	5 Yahvé donna à Israël un libérateur qui l'affranchit de l'emprise d'Aram, et les Israélites habitèrentleurs tentes comme auparavant.
6 But they did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam had led Israel; they persisted in it, and even thesacred pole stayed standing in Samaria.	6 Seulement, ils ne se détournèrent pas du péché de Jéroboam, où celui-ci avait entraîné Israël: ils ypersistèrent, et même le pieu sacré resta dressé à Samarie.
7 Of Jehoahaz's army Yahweh left only fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. Theking of Aram had destroyed them, making them like dust trampled under foot.	7 Yahvé ne laissa comme troupes à Joachaz que 50 cavaliers, dix chars et 10.000 hommes de pied; leroi d'Aram les avait exterminés et rendus comme poussière qu'on foule aux pieds.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoahaz, his entire career, his prowess, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	8 Le reste de l'histoire de Joachaz, tout ce qu'il a fait et ses exploits, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre desAnnales des rois d'Israël?
9 Then Jehoahaz fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria; his son Joash succeededhim.	9 Joachaz se coucha avec ses pères, on l'enterra à Samarie et son fils Joas régna à sa place.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for sixteen years.	10 En la trente-septième année de Joas, roi de Juda, Joas fils de Joachaz devint roi sur Israël àSamarie; il régna seize ans.
11 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel; he persisted in it.	11 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, il ne se détourna pas du péché de Jéroboam fils de Nebat, où celui-ciavait entraîné Israël, il y persista.
12 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah king ofJudah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	12 Le reste de l'histoire de Joas, tout ce qu'il a fait et ses exploits, comment il fit la guerre à Amasias,roi de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales des rois d'Israël?
13 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and Jeroboam ascended his throne. Joash was buried inSamaria with the kings of Israel.	13 Joas se coucha avec ses pères et Jéroboam monta sur son trône. Joas fut enterré à Samarie avec lesrois d'Israël.
14 When Elisha had fal en il of the il ness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to himand shedding tears over him said, 'Father! Father! Chariot of Israel and its chargers!'	14 Quand Elisée fut frappé de la maladie dont il devait mourir, Joas, le roi d'Israël, descendit vers lui,pleura sur son visage et dit: "Mon père! Mon père! Char d'Israël et son attelage!"
15 Elisha said to him, 'Bring bow and arrows,' and he sent for a bow and arrows.	15 Elisée lui dit: "Va chercher un arc et des flèches", et il alla chercher un arc et des flèches.
16 Then Elisha said to the king, 'Draw the bow,' and he drew it. Elisha put his hands over the hands ofthe king,	16 Elisée dit au roi: "Bande l'arc", et il le banda. Elisée mit ses mains sur les mains du roi,
17 then he said, 'Open the window towards the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' And heshot. Elisha said, 'Arrow of victory over Aram! You wil defeat Aram at Aphek-completely.'	17 puis il dit: "Ouvre la fenêtre vers l'orient", et il l'ouvrit. Alors Elisée dit: "Tire!" et il tira. Elisée dit:"Flèche de victoire pour Yahvé! Flèche de victoire contre Aram! Tu battras Aram à Apheq, complètement."
18 Elisha said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. Then he said to the king, 'Strike the ground,' and hestruck it three times, then stopped.	18 Elisée dit: "Prends les flèches"; et il les prit. Elisée dit au roi: "Frappe contre terre", il frappa troiscoups et il s'arrêta.
19 At this the man of God grew angry with him. 'You should have struck half a dozen times,' he said, 'andyou would have beaten Aram completely; now you wil beat Aram only three times.'	19 Alors l'homme de Dieu s'irrita contre lui: "Il fallait frapper cinq ou six coups! Alors tu aurais battuAram complètement; maintenant, tu ne le battras que trois fois!"
20 Elisha died and was buried. Bands of Moabites were making incursions into the country every year.	20 Elisée mourut et on l'enterra. Des bandes de Moabites faisaient incursion dans le pays chaqueannée.
21 Some people happened to be carrying a man out for burial; at the sight of one of these bands, theyflung the man into the tomb of Elisha and made off. The man had no sooner touched the bones of Elisha than hecame to life and stood up on his feet.	21 Il arriva que des gens qui portaient un homme en terre virent la bande; ils jetèrent l'homme dans latombe d'Elisée et partirent. L'homme toucha les ossements d'Elisée: il reprit vie et se dressa sur ses pieds.
22 Hazael king of Aram had oppressed the Israelites throughout the lifetime of Jehoahaz,	22 Hazaël, roi d'Aram, avait opprimé les Israélites pendant toute la vie de Joachaz.
23 but Yahweh was kind and took pity on them. Because of the covenant which he had made withAbraham, Isaac and Jacob, he relented towards them; he had no wish to destroy them, he did not cast them outof his presence.	23 Mais Yahvé leur fit grâce et les prit en pitié. Il se tourna vers eux à cause de l'alliance qu'il avaitconclue avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob; il ne voulut pas les anéantir et ne les rejeta pas loin de sa face.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and his son Ben-Hadad succeeded him.	24 Hazaël, roi d'Aram, mourut et son fils Ben-Hadad régna à sa place.
25 From Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured the towns which Hazael hadseized from his father Jehoahaz by force of arms. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelitetowns.	25 Alors Joas, fils de Joachaz, reprit des mains de Ben-Hadad, fils de Hazaël, les villes que Hazaëlavait enlevées par les armes à son père Joachaz. Joas le battit trois fois et recouvra les villes d'Israël.
