2 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king ofIsrael in Samaria. He reigned for seventeen years.	1 En el año veintitrés de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, sobre Israel, en Samaría; reinó diecisiete años.
2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and copied the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebat had ledIsrael; he did not give it up.	2 Hizo el mal a los ojos de Yahveh y anduvo tras los pecados con que Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, hizo pecar a Israel, sin apartarse de ellos.
3 This aroused Yahweh's anger against the Israelites, and he delivered them without respite into thepower of Hazael king of Aram and of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael.	3 Se encendió la ira de Yahveh contra los israelitas y los entregó en manos de Jazael, rey de Aram, y en manos de Jazael, rey de Aram, y en manos de Ben Hadad, hijo de Jazael, todo aquel tiempo.
4 Jehoahaz, however, tried to placate Yahweh, and Yahweh heard him, for he had seen the oppressionwhich the king of Aram was inflicting on Israel.	4 Joacaz aplacó el rostro de Yahveh y Yahveh le escuchó porque había visto la opresión de Israel, pues el rey de Aram los oprimía.
5 Yahweh gave Israel a saviour who freed them from the grip of Aram, and the Israelites lived in theirtents as in the past.	5 Concedió Yahveh a Israel un liberador que lo sacó de bajo la mano de Aram, pudiendo habitar los hijos de Israel en sus tiendas como antes.
6 But they did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam had led Israel; they persisted in it, and even thesacred pole stayed standing in Samaria.	6 Pero no se apartaron de los pecados con que Jeroboam había hecho pecar a Israel, sino que anduvieron por ellos y el cipo siguió en pie en Samaría.
7 Of Jehoahaz's army Yahweh left only fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. Theking of Aram had destroyed them, making them like dust trampled under foot.	7 Pero no le quedaron a Joacaz como tropas sino cincuenta jinetes, diez carros y 10.000 infantes, pues el rey de Aram los había exterminado y reducido a polvo de la tierra.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoahaz, his entire career, his prowess, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	8 El resto de los hechos de Joacaz, todo cuanto hizo y su bravura ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel?
9 Then Jehoahaz fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria; his son Joash succeededhim.	9 Se acostó Joacaz con sus padres y lo sepultaron en Samaría. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Joás.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for sixteen years.	10 En el año 37 de Joás, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joás, hijo de Joacaz, sobre Israel, en Samaría; reinó dieciséis años.
11 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel; he persisted in it.	11 Hizo el mal a los ojos de Yahveh, no se apartó de ninguno de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, hizo pecar a Israel, sino que anduvo por ellos.
12 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah king ofJudah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	12 El resto de los hechos de Joás, todo cuanto hizo, su bravura y cómo combatió contra Amasías, rey de Judá ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel?
13 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and Jeroboam ascended his throne. Joash was buried inSamaria with the kings of Israel.	13 Se acostó Joás con sus padres y Jeroboam ocupó su trono. Fue sepultado Joás en Samaría, junto a los reyes de Israel.
14 When Elisha had fal en il of the il ness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to himand shedding tears over him said, 'Father! Father! Chariot of Israel and its chargers!'	14 Cuando Eliseo enfermó de la enfermedad de que murió, bajó donde él Joás, rey de Israel, y lloró sobre su rostro diciendo: «¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro y caballos de Israel!»
15 Elisha said to him, 'Bring bow and arrows,' and he sent for a bow and arrows.	15 Eliseo le dijo: «Toma un arco y flechas». El se hizo con un arco y flechas.
16 Then Elisha said to the king, 'Draw the bow,' and he drew it. Elisha put his hands over the hands ofthe king,	16 Dijo al rey de Israel: «Pon tu mano sobre el arco»; puso su mano. Entonces Eliseo colocó sus manos sobre las manos del rey
17 then he said, 'Open the window towards the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' And heshot. Elisha said, 'Arrow of victory over Aram! You wil defeat Aram at Aphek-completely.'	17 y dijo: «Abre la ventana hacia Oriente». El la abrió. Dijo Eliseo: «¡Tira!» El tiró. Dijo Eliseo: «Flecha de victoria de Yahveh, flecha de victoria contra Aram. Batirás a Aram en Afeq hasta el exterminio».
18 Elisha said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. Then he said to the king, 'Strike the ground,' and hestruck it three times, then stopped.	18 Añadió: «Toma las flechas». El las tomó. Eliseo dijo al rey: «Hiere la tierra». La hirió tres veces y se detuvó.
19 At this the man of God grew angry with him. 'You should have struck half a dozen times,' he said, 'andyou would have beaten Aram completely; now you wil beat Aram only three times.'	19 El hombre de Dios se irritó contra él y le dijo: «Tenías que haber herido cinco o seis veces y entonces hubieras batido a Aram hasta el exterminio, pero ahora lo batirás sólo tres veces».
20 Elisha died and was buried. Bands of Moabites were making incursions into the country every year.	20 Eliseo murió y le sepultaron. Las bandas de Moab hacían incursiones todos los años.
21 Some people happened to be carrying a man out for burial; at the sight of one of these bands, theyflung the man into the tomb of Elisha and made off. The man had no sooner touched the bones of Elisha than hecame to life and stood up on his feet.	21 Estaban unos sepultando un hombre cuando vieron la banda y, arrojando al hombre en el sepulcro de Eliseo, se fueron. Tocó el hombre los huesos de Eliseo, cobró vida y se puso en pie.
22 Hazael king of Aram had oppressed the Israelites throughout the lifetime of Jehoahaz,	22 Jazael, rey de Aram, había oprimido a Israel todos las días de Joacaz.
23 but Yahweh was kind and took pity on them. Because of the covenant which he had made withAbraham, Isaac and Jacob, he relented towards them; he had no wish to destroy them, he did not cast them outof his presence.	23 Pero Yahveh tuvo piedad y se compadeció de ellos volviéndose a ellos a causa de su alianza con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob y no quiso aniquilarlos ni echarlos lejos de su rostro.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and his son Ben-Hadad succeeded him.	24 Murió Jazael, rey de Aram, y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ben Hadad.
25 From Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured the towns which Hazael hadseized from his father Jehoahaz by force of arms. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelitetowns.	25 Entonces Joás, hijo de Joacaz, volvió a tomar de mano de Ben Hadad, hijo de Jazael, las ciudades que había tomado de mano de Joacaz su padre, por las armas. Joás le batió tres veces y recobró las ciudades de Israel.
