2 Kings 13

1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king ofIsrael in Samaria. He reigned for seventeen years.	1 En la vingt-troisième année du règne de Joas, fils d’Okozias en Juda, Yoacaz, fils de Jéhu, devint roi à Samarie; il régna 17 ans sur Israël.
2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and copied the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebat had ledIsrael; he did not give it up.	2 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé et il imita le péché dans lequel Jéroboam fils de Nabat avait entraîné Israël: il ne s’en détourna pas.
3 This aroused Yahweh's anger against the Israelites, and he delivered them without respite into thepower of Hazael king of Aram and of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael.	3 Yahvé se mit en colère contre les Israélites, il les livra entre les mains de Hazaël roi d’Aram, et de Ben-Hadad fils de Hazaël, durant de longs jours.
4 Jehoahaz, however, tried to placate Yahweh, and Yahweh heard him, for he had seen the oppressionwhich the king of Aram was inflicting on Israel.	4 Yoacaz supplia Yahvé et Yahvé l’écouta, car il avait vu à quel point le roi d’Aram opprimait les Israélites.
5 Yahweh gave Israel a saviour who freed them from the grip of Aram, and the Israelites lived in theirtents as in the past.	5 C’est pourquoi Yahvé donna un sauveur à Israël; ils se libérèrent de l’oppression d’Aram et les Israélites habitèrent de nouveau dans leurs tentes comme dans le passé.
6 But they did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam had led Israel; they persisted in it, and even thesacred pole stayed standing in Samaria.	6 Ils ne se détournèrent pas pour autant des péchés dans lesquels la maison de Jéroboam avait entraîné Israël, bien au contraire: même le pieu sacré de Samarie resta debout.
7 Of Jehoahaz's army Yahweh left only fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. Theking of Aram had destroyed them, making them like dust trampled under foot.	7 Il ne resta à Yoacaz, de toute son armée, que 50 cavaliers, 10 chars et 10 000 fantassins: le roi d’Aram l’avait écrasée et réduite en poussière.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoahaz, his entire career, his prowess, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	8 Le reste des actions de Yoacaz, ce qu’il a fait et sa bravoure, tout cela n’est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
9 Then Jehoahaz fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria; his son Joash succeededhim.	9 Yoacaz se coucha avec ses pères et on l’enterra à Samarie; Joas, son fils, régna à sa place.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for sixteen years.	10 En la trente-septième année du règne de Joas en Juda, Joas, fils de Yoacaz, devint roi à Samarie; il régna 16 ans sur Israël.
11 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel; he persisted in it.	11 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, il ne se détourna pas du péché dans lequel Jéroboam fils de Nabat, avait entraîné Israël, bien au contraire.
12 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah king ofJudah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	12 Le reste des action de Joas, tout ce qu’il a fait et la bravoure avec laquelle il s’est battu contre Amasias, roi de Juda, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le Livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
13 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and Jeroboam ascended his throne. Joash was buried inSamaria with the kings of Israel.	13 Joas se coucha avec ses pères et Jéroboam s’assit sur son trône. On enterra Joas à Samarie avec les rois d’Israël.
14 When Elisha had fal en il of the il ness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to himand shedding tears over him said, 'Father! Father! Chariot of Israel and its chargers!'	14 Élisée était déjà malade de la maladie dont il devait mourir. Joas, roi d’Israël, descendit auprès de lui et pleura; il dit: “Mon père! Mon père! Char d’Israël et ses cavaliers!”
15 Elisha said to him, 'Bring bow and arrows,' and he sent for a bow and arrows.	15 Élisée lui dit: “Prends un arc et des flèches.” Joas alla donc prendre un arc et des flèches.
16 Then Elisha said to the king, 'Draw the bow,' and he drew it. Elisha put his hands over the hands ofthe king,	16 Élisée dit au roi d’Israël: “Prends ton arc dans la main.” Il le fit. Élisée posa ses mains sur les mains du roi,
17 then he said, 'Open the window towards the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' And heshot. Elisha said, 'Arrow of victory over Aram! You wil defeat Aram at Aphek-completely.'	17 puis il dit: “Ouvre la fenêtre vers l’est!” Il l’ouvrit. Élisée ajouta: “Tire!” Et il tira. Élisée dit alors: “Flèche de victoire de la part de Yahvé! Flèche de victoire contre Aram! Tu battras Aram à Afek, jusqu’à ce qu’il n’en reste plus un seul.”
18 Elisha said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. Then he said to the king, 'Strike the ground,' and hestruck it three times, then stopped.	18 Il dit ensuite: “Ramasse les flèches.” Il les ramassa. Élisée dit au roi d’Israël: “Frappe à terre.” Et le roi frappa trois fois, puis s’arrêta.
19 At this the man of God grew angry with him. 'You should have struck half a dozen times,' he said, 'andyou would have beaten Aram completely; now you wil beat Aram only three times.'	19 Alors l’homme de Dieu se mit en colère contre le roi et lui dit: “Il fallait frapper cinq ou six fois! Alors tu aurais battu Aram jusqu’à ce qu’il n’en reste plus un seul! Mais à présent, tu ne battras Aram que trois fois.”
20 Elisha died and was buried. Bands of Moabites were making incursions into the country every year.	20 Élisée mourut et on l’enterra. Des bandes moabites pénétraient alors chaque année dans le pays,
21 Some people happened to be carrying a man out for burial; at the sight of one of these bands, theyflung the man into the tomb of Elisha and made off. The man had no sooner touched the bones of Elisha than hecame to life and stood up on his feet.	21 et il arriva que des gens qui portaient un mort en terre, aperçurent l’une de ces bandes: ils jetèrent le mort dans le tombeau d’Élisée et se sauvèrent. L’homme toucha les os d’Élisée et il revint à la vie: aussitôt il se remit sur ses pieds.
22 Hazael king of Aram had oppressed the Israelites throughout the lifetime of Jehoahaz,	22 Hazaël roi d’Aram avait opprimé les Israélites durant tout le règne de Yoacaz.
23 but Yahweh was kind and took pity on them. Because of the covenant which he had made withAbraham, Isaac and Jacob, he relented towards them; he had no wish to destroy them, he did not cast them outof his presence.	23 Ensuite Yahvé leur fit grâce, il eut pitié d’eux; il se tourna vers eux à cause de l’alliance qu’il avait faite avec Abraham, Isaac et Jacob et il ne voulut pas les détruire. Il ne les avait pas encore rejetés loin de lui.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and his son Ben-Hadad succeeded him.	24 Hazaël roi d’Aram mourut et son fils Ben-Hadad régna à sa place.
25 From Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured the towns which Hazael hadseized from his father Jehoahaz by force of arms. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelitetowns.	25 Alors Joas reprit à Ben-Hadad les villes que son père Hazaël avait enlevées à Yoacaz, père de Joas, au cours des guerres. Par trois fois Joas le battit, et il reprit les villes d’Israël.
