2 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king ofIsrael in Samaria. He reigned for seventeen years.	1 L'anno ventitreesimo di Ioas, figlio di Acazia, re di Giuda, Ioacaz, figlio di Ieu, divenne re d'Israele in Samaria dove regnò diciassette anni.
2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh and copied the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebat had ledIsrael; he did not give it up.	2 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore e imitò il peccato che Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, aveva fatto commettere ad Israele e non se ne staccò.
3 This aroused Yahweh's anger against the Israelites, and he delivered them without respite into thepower of Hazael king of Aram and of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael.	3 Allora l'ira del Signore divampò contro Israele e li abbandonò in mano di Cazaèl, re di Aram, e in mano di Ben-Adàd, figlio di Cazaèl, per tutto il tempo.
4 Jehoahaz, however, tried to placate Yahweh, and Yahweh heard him, for he had seen the oppressionwhich the king of Aram was inflicting on Israel.	4 Ioacaz però si propiziò il Signore che lo esaudì perché vide l'oppressione d'Israele: infatti il re di Aram li aveva oppressi.
5 Yahweh gave Israel a saviour who freed them from the grip of Aram, and the Israelites lived in theirtents as in the past.	5 Il Signore diede a Israele un salvatore che li liberò dalla mano di Aram. Così i figli d'Israele abitarono come prima nelle loro tende.
6 But they did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam had led Israel; they persisted in it, and even thesacred pole stayed standing in Samaria.	6 Non si staccarono però dal peccato della casa di Geroboamo, che questi aveva fatto commettere ad Israele, ma camminarono in esso; persino il palo sacro rimase in piedi a Samaria.
7 Of Jehoahaz's army Yahweh left only fifty horsemen, ten chariots and ten thousand foot soldiers. Theking of Aram had destroyed them, making them like dust trampled under foot.	7 Pertanto il Signore non lasciò a Ioacaz altra truppa al di fuori di cinquanta cavalieri, dieci carri e diecimila fanti; il re di Aram infatti li aveva sterminati e ridotti come polvere da calpestare.
8 The rest of the history of Jehoahaz, his entire career, his prowess, is this not recorded in the Book ofthe Annals of the Kings of Israel?	8 Le altre gesta di Ioacaz, tutte le sue azioni e il suo coraggio non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re d'Israele?
9 Then Jehoahaz fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in Samaria; his son Joash succeededhim.	9 Ioacaz s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e lo seppellirono a Samaria. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Ioas.
10 In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for sixteen years.	10 L'anno trentasettesimo di Ioas re di Giuda, Ioas, figlio di Ioacaz, divenne re d'Israele in Samaria dove regnò per sedici anni.
11 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sin into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel; he persisted in it.	11 Egli fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore né si staccò dal peccato che Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, aveva fatto commettere ad Israele, bensì camminò in esso.
12 The rest of the history of Joash, his entire career, his prowess, how he waged war on Amaziah king ofJudah, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	12 Le altre gesta di Ioas, tutte le sue azioni e il suo coraggio quando combatté contro Amazia, re di Giuda, non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re d'Israele?
13 Then Joash fel asleep with his ancestors, and Jeroboam ascended his throne. Joash was buried inSamaria with the kings of Israel.	13 Ioas s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e Geroboamo s'assise sul suo trono. Ioas fu sepolto a Samaria assieme ai re d'Israele.
14 When Elisha had fal en il of the il ness of which he was to die, Joash king of Israel went down to himand shedding tears over him said, 'Father! Father! Chariot of Israel and its chargers!'	14 Or Eliseo s'ammalò di quella malattia di cui doveva morire. Ioas, re di Israele, discese presso di lui e, piangendo in sua presenza, gli disse: "Padre mio, padre mio! Carro d'Israele e sua pariglia!".
15 Elisha said to him, 'Bring bow and arrows,' and he sent for a bow and arrows.	15 Eliseo gli ordinò: "Prendi arco e frecce". Egli prese arco e frecce.
16 Then Elisha said to the king, 'Draw the bow,' and he drew it. Elisha put his hands over the hands ofthe king,	16 Poi Eliseo disse al re d'Israele: "Impugna l'arco!"; ed egli lo impugnò. Allora Eliseo pose le sue mani sulle mani del re
17 then he said, 'Open the window towards the east,' and he opened it. Then Elisha said, 'Shoot!' And heshot. Elisha said, 'Arrow of victory over Aram! You wil defeat Aram at Aphek-completely.'	17 e gli disse: "Apri la finestra verso l'oriente"; egli la aprì. Eliseo soggiunse ancora: "Tira!"; egli tirò. Allora il profeta disse: "Freccia vittoriosa del Signore, freccia vittoriosa contro Aram: tu batterai Aram ad Afek, fino allo sterminio!".
18 Elisha said, 'Take the arrows,' and he took them. Then he said to the king, 'Strike the ground,' and hestruck it three times, then stopped.	18 Poi soggiunse: "Prendi le frecce!"; egli le prese. Di nuovo ordinò al re d'Israele: "Colpisci il suolo!"; egli lo colpì per tre volte e poi si fermò.
19 At this the man of God grew angry with him. 'You should have struck half a dozen times,' he said, 'andyou would have beaten Aram completely; now you wil beat Aram only three times.'	19 Allora l'uomo di Dio s'irritò contro di lui e gli disse: "Se tu avessi colpito cinque o sei volte, allora avresti colpito Aram fino allo sterminio; ora invece colpirai Aram solo per tre volte".
20 Elisha died and was buried. Bands of Moabites were making incursions into the country every year.	20 Eliseo morì e lo seppellirono. Or alcune bande di Moab facevano incursioni nel paese ogni anno.
21 Some people happened to be carrying a man out for burial; at the sight of one of these bands, theyflung the man into the tomb of Elisha and made off. The man had no sooner touched the bones of Elisha than hecame to life and stood up on his feet.	21 Al vedere le bande alcuni, che erano intenti a seppellire un morto, gettarono il cadavere nel sepolcro di Eliseo e si allontanarono. Non appena il morto toccò le ossa di Eliseo, riebbe la vita e si drizzò sui suoi piedi.
22 Hazael king of Aram had oppressed the Israelites throughout the lifetime of Jehoahaz,	22 Cazaèl, re di Aram, oppresse Israele durante tutta la vita di Ioacaz.
23 but Yahweh was kind and took pity on them. Because of the covenant which he had made withAbraham, Isaac and Jacob, he relented towards them; he had no wish to destroy them, he did not cast them outof his presence.	23 Il Signore però fece loro grazia, ne ebbe compassione e si volse verso di loro a motivo del patto con Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe; non volle sterminarli né, fino ad oggi, li rigettò dal suo cospetto.
24 Hazael king of Aram died, and his son Ben-Hadad succeeded him.	24 Cazaèl, re di Aram, morì e Ben-Adàd, suo figlio, regnò al suo posto.
25 From Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured the towns which Hazael hadseized from his father Jehoahaz by force of arms. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelitetowns.	25 Allora Ioas, figlio di Ioacaz, riprese dalla mano di Ben-Adàd, figlio di Cazaèl, le città che quest'ultimo aveva tolte, in combattimento, a suo padre Ioacaz. Per ben tre volte Ioas lo sconfisse e così riebbe le città d'Israele.
