NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Athaliah mother of Ahaziah learned that her son was dead, she promptly murdered al those ofroyal stock.	1 Quando Atalia, madre di Acazia, vide che suo figlio era morto, si levò e sterminò tutta la stirpe reale.
2 But Jehosheba, daughter of King Jehoram and sister of Ahaziah, surreptitiously rescued Jehoash sonof Ahaziah from among the princes who were to be murdered, and put him with his nurse in the sleepingquarters; in this way she hid him from Athaliah, and he was not killed.	2 Ma Ioseba, figlia del re Ioram e sorella di Acazia, prese Ioas, figlio di Acazia, sottraendolo di mezzo ai figli del re che stavano per essere uccisi e lo mise, assieme alla sua nutrice, nella camera dei letti; così lo nascose ad Atalia e non fu ucciso.
3 He stayed, hidden with her in the Temple of Yahweh for six years, while Athaliah governed the country.	3 Rimase nascosto con lei nel tempio del Signore per sei anni, mentre Atalia regnava sul paese.
4 In the seventh year, Jehoiada sent for the regimental commanders of the Carians and the guards, andhad them brought to him in the Temple of Yahweh. He made a pact with them, put them on oath, then showedthem the king's son. He gave them this order,	4 Il settimo anno, Ioiada mandò a prendere i capicenturia dei Carii e delle guardie, li fece venire presso di sé nel tempio del Signore e stipulò con loro un patto. 5 'This is what you must do: a third of you who come on duty on the Sabbath must mount guard at theroyal palace,	5 Poi impartì loro questo ordine: "Questa è la cosa che dovrete fare: la terza parte di voi che entra al sabato in servizio e monta la guardia al palazzo reale,

7 and your two other sections who come off duty on the Sabbath and mount guard at the Temple ofYahweh	7 e gli altri due vostri manipoli cioè tutti quelli che escono al sabato dal servizio, monteranno la guardia nella casa del Signore, presso il re;
8 must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hand; anyone forcing his way through theranks is to be kil ed. And you wil escort the king as he leaves and as he comes in.'	8 così voi farete un cerchio attorno al re, ciascuno con le armi in pugno, e chiunque tenterà di rompere le fila sia ucciso. State vicino al re in tutti i suoi movimenti".
9 The regimental commanders did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, and reported toJehoiada the priest.	9 I capicenturia fecero tutto quello che il sacerdote Ioiada aveva loro comandato. Ciascuno prese i suoi uomini, quelli che entravano in servizio al sabato assieme a quelli che uscivano al sabato, e andarono dal sacerdote Ioiada.
10 The priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and shields, which werekept in the Temple of Yahweh.	10 Il sacerdote diede ai capicenturia le lance e gli scudi del re Davide che si trovavano nel tempio del Signore.
11 The guards then took position, each man with his weapons in his hand, from the south corner of theTemple to the north corner of the Temple, al round the altar and the Temple.	11 Le guardie si schierarono, ciascuna con le armi in pugno, dal lato sud del tempio fino al lato nord, davanti all'altare e al tempio, intorno al re.
12 Then Jehoiada brought the king's son out -- crowned him and gave him a copy of the covenant; andthey made him king and anointed him, and they clapped their hands and shouted, 'Long live the king!'	12 Allora Ioiada fece uscire il figlio del re, gli impose il diadema e i braccialetti, lo proclamò re e lo unse. I presenti batterono le mani e gridarono: "Viva il re!".
13 On hearing the people shouting, Athaliah joined the people in the Temple of Yahweh.	13 All'udire il frastuono del popolo, Atalia andò verso di esso nel tempio del Signore.
14 When she looked, there stood the king on a dais, as the custom was, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets; then Athaliah tore herclothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	14 Osservò e vide il re sul podio, secondo l'usanza, con i capi e i trombettieri presso di lui. Tutto il popolo della terra era in festa e suonava le trombe. Allora Atalia si stracciò le vesti e gridò: "Tradimento, tradimento!".
15 Jehoiada the priest then gave the orders to the commanders in charge of the troops, 'Take her outunder guard and put to death anyone who follows her.' 'For', the priest had already said, 'she must not be killedinside the Temple of Yahweh.'	15 Il sacerdote Ioiada ordinò ai capicenturia che comandavano l'esercito: "Conducetela fuori del recinto sacro e chiunque la segue venga ucciso di spada". Il sacerdote infatti aveva detto: "Non venga uccisa nel tempio del Signore".
16 They seized her, and when she reached the horses' entry to the palace, she was kil ed there.	16 Quelli la catturarono e, quando giunse al palazzo reale per la porta dei Cavalli, vi fu uccisa.
17 Jehoiada made a covenant between Yahweh, the king and the people that they would remainYahweh's people; and another one between the king and the people.	17 Ioiada stipulò un patto tra il Signore, il re e il popolo affinché questi diventasse un popolo del Signore; così pure tra il re e il popolo.
18 Al the people of the country then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed itsaltars and its images and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars. The priest made arrangements forthe security of the Temple of Yahweh.	18 Tutto il popolo della terra si recò al tempio di Baal e lo demolì; frantumò gli altari e le immagini e uccise davanti agli altari Mattan, sacerdote di Baal. Il sacerdote Ioiada stabilì dei posti di sorveglianza nel tempio del Signore;
19 He then took the regimental commanders, the Carians, the guards and al the people of the country,and they escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh, entering the palace through the Gate of theGuards. Jehoash took his seat on the throne of the kings.	19 poi prese con sé i capicenturia e i Carii, le guardie e tutto il popolo della terra: essi fecero scendere il re dal tempio del Signore. Entrato che fu nel palazzo reale per la porta delle Guardie, egli si sedette sul trono regale.
20 Al the people of the country were delighted; the city, however, made no move. And Athaliah was putto death inside the palace.	20 Tutto il popolo della terra era in festa e la città rimase tranquilla. Quanto ad Atalia, fu uccisa di spada nel palazzo reale.
