1 Kings 17

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, 'By the life of Yahweh, God of Israel, whom Iserve, there will be neither dew nor rain these coming years unless I give the word.'	1 Majd azt mondta a Tisbéből, Gileád lakói közül való Illés Áchábnak: »Az Úrnak, Izrael Istenének életére mondom, akinek színe előtt szolgálok, hogy nem lesz ezekben az esztendőkben sem harmat, sem eső, csak majd az én szám szavára.«
2 The word of Yahweh came to him,	2 Ekkor az Úr szózatot intézett hozzá, ezekkel a szavakkal:
3 'Go away from here, go east and hide by the torrent of Cherith, east of the Jordan.	3 »Távozz innen, s eredj napkeletre, s rejtőzz el a Kárit-pataknál, amely a Jordán felé van.
4 You can drink from the stream, and I have ordered the ravens to bring you food there.'	4 A patakból lesz ott italod, s a hollóknak hagytam meg, hogy tápláljanak ott téged.«
5 So he set out and did as Yahweh had said; he went and stayed by the torrent of Cherith, east of theJordan.	5 Elment tehát, s az Úr szava szerint cselekedett, s amikor odaért, megtelepedett a Kárit-pataknál, amely a Jordán felé van.
6 The ravens brought him bread in the morning and meat in the evening, and he quenched his thirst atthe stream.	6 A hollók hoztak is neki kenyeret és húst reggel, valamint kenyeret s húst este, s a patakból ivott.
7 But after a while the stream dried up, for the country had had no rain.	7 Napok múltával azonban kiszáradt a patak, mert nem volt eső az országban.
8 And then the word of Yahweh came to him,	8 Ezért az Úr szózatot intézett hozzá, ezekkel a szavakkal:
9 'Up and go to Zarephath in Sidonia, and stay there. I have ordered a widow there to give you food.'	9 »Kelj fel, s eredj a szidoniak Száreftájába, s tartózkodj ott: íme, meghagytam ott egy özvegyasszonynak, hogy tápláljon téged.«
10 So he went off to Sidon. And when he reached the city gate, there was a widow gathering sticks.Addressing her he said, 'Please bring a little water in a pitcher for me to drink.'	10 Felkelt és elment Száreftába. Amikor a város kapujához ért, meglátott egy özvegyasszonyt, aki fát szedegetett. Megszólította, s azt mondta neki: »Adj nekem egy kis vizet valami edényben, hadd igyam.«
11 She was on her way to fetch it when he cal ed after her. 'Please', he said, 'bring me a scrap of breadin your hand.'	11 Amikor aztán az elment, hogy hozzon, ő így kiáltott utána: »Hozz nekem, kérlek, egy falat kenyeret is kezedben.«
12 'As Yahweh your God lives,' she replied, 'I have no baked bread, but only a handful of meal in a jarand a little oil in a jug; I am just gathering a stick or two to go and prepare this for myself and my son to eat, andthen we shall die.'	12 Az ezt felelte: »Az Úrnak, a te Istenednek életére mondom, hogy nincs semmiféle kenyerem, csak egy maroknyi lisztem a vékában s egy kis olajam a korsóban: éppen egy pár darabka fát szedek, hogy elkészítsem azt magamnak s fiamnak, hogy megegyük, s azután meghaljunk.«
13 But Elijah said to her, 'Do not be afraid, go and do as you have said; but first make a little scone of itfor me and bring it to me, and then make some for yourself and for your son.	13 Azt mondta neki Illés: »Ne félj, csak eredj, s tégy, ahogy mondtad. Először azonban nekem készíts abból a lisztecskéből egy kis hamuban sült lepényt, s hozd ki azt nekem. Magadnak és fiadnak azután csinálj.
14 For Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Jar of meal shal not be spent, jug of oil shall not be emptied,before the day when Yahweh sends rain on the face of the earth.'	14 Ezt üzeni ugyanis az Úr, Izrael Istene: ‘Nem ürül ki lisztes vékád, s nem apad el olajos korsód mindaddig, amíg esőt nem ad az Úr a föld színére.’«
15 The woman went and did as Elijah told her and they ate the food, she, himself and her son.	15 Erre az elment, s Illés szava szerint cselekedett, és evett ő s az asszony s egész házanépe, s attól a naptól kezdve
16 The jar of meal was not spent nor the jug of oil emptied, just as Yahweh had foretold through Elijah.	16 nem ürült ki a lisztes véka, s nem apadt el az olajos korsó – az Úr szava szerint, amelyet Illés által szólt.
17 It happened after this that the son of the mistress of the house fel sick; his il ness was so severe thatin the end he expired.	17 Történt pedig ezek után, hogy megbetegedett az asszonynak, a ház asszonyának fia, s olyan súlyos volt betegsége, hogy nem maradt lélegzet benne.
18 And the woman said to Elijah, 'What quarrel have you with me, man of God? Have you come here tobring my sins home to me and to kill my son?'	18 Azt mondta azért az asszony Illésnek: »Mi dolgom van veled, Isten embere? Azért jöttél-e hozzám, hogy felhívd a figyelmet vétkeimre, s megöld fiamat?«
19 'Give me your son,' he said and, taking him from her lap, he carried him to the upper room where hewas staying and laid him on his bed.	19 Azt mondta erre neki Illés: »Add ide fiadat.« Azzal elvette öléből, s felvitte a tetőszobába, ahol ő lakott, s ágyára fektette,
20 He cried out to Yahweh, 'Yahweh my God, by kil ing her son do you mean to bring grief even to thewidow who is looking after me?'	20 majd kiáltott az Úrhoz és azt mondta: »Uram, Istenem, sújtod ezt az özvegyet is, akinél én úgy ahogy ellátást találok, hogy fiát így megölöd?«
21 He stretched himself on the child three times and cried out to Yahweh, 'Yahweh my God, may thesoul of this child, I beg you, come into him again!'	21 Aztán kinyújtotta magát, s háromszor ráborult a gyermekre, s az Úrhoz kiáltott és azt mondta: »Uram Istenem, kérlek, térjen vissza e gyermek lelke a testébe.«
22 Yahweh heard Elijah's prayer and the child's soul came back into his body and he revived.	22 Az Úr meg is hallgatta Illés szavát, s a gyermek lelke visszatért bele, s az ismét élt.
23 Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to hismother. 'Look,' Elijah said, 'your son is alive.'	23 Erre Illés vette a gyermeket, levitte a felső teremből az alsó házba, átadta anyjának, s azt mondta neki: »Íme, fiad él.«
24 And the woman replied, 'Now I know you are a man of God and the word of Yahweh in your mouth istruth itself.'	24 Az asszony azt felelte Illésnek: »Ezáltal most megtudtam, hogy az Isten embere vagy, s az Úr szava igaz a te szádban.«
