1 The word of Yahweh came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha:	1 Allora la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Ieu, figlio di Canani, contro Baasa, in questi termini:
2 'I raised you from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you have fol owed Jeroboam'sexample and led my people Israel into sins which provoke my anger.	2 "Io ti ho sollevato dalla polvere e ti ho posto a capo del mio popolo Israele, ma tu hai imitato la condotta di Geroboamo e hai fatto peccare il mio popolo Israele in modo da irritarmi con i suoi peccati.
3 Now I shal sweep away Baasha and his House; I shal make your House like the House of Jeroboamson of Nebat.	3 Ecco, io spazzerò via Baasa e la sua casa: renderò la tua casa come quella di Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt.
4 Those of Baasha's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the open country,the birds of the air wil eat.'	4 Chi della famiglia di Baasa morirà in città, sarà mangiato dai cani; chi morirà in campagna, sarà mangiato dagli uccelli del cielo".
5 The rest of the history of Baasha, his career, his valour, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annalsof the Kings of Israel?	5 Le altre gesta di Baasa, tutte le sue azioni e il suo valore non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re d'Israele?
6 When Baasha fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Tirzah; his son Elah succeeded him.	6 Poi Baasa s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu seppellito in Tirza. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Ela.
7 Furthermore, the word of Yahweh was delivered through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani againstBaasha and his House, first because of the many ways in which he had displeased Yahweh, provoking him toanger by his actions and becoming like the House of Jeroboam; secondly because he had destroyed that House.	7 Anche per mezzo del profeta Ieu, figlio di Canani, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Baasa e alla sua casa, non solo a causa di tutto il male ch'egli aveva fatto agli occhi del Signore, in modo da irritarlo con l'opera delle sue mani e da divenire come la casa di Geroboamo, ma anche perché aveva distrutto quest'ultima.
8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel at Tirzah, fortwo years.	8 Nell'anno ventiseiesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, Ela, figlio di Baasa, divenne re d'Israele e regnò in Tirza per due anni.
9 Zimri, one of his officers, captain of half his chariotry, plotted against him. While he was at Tirzah,drinking himself senseless in the house of Arza who was master of the palace in Tirzah,	9 Ma il suo ufficiale Zimri, capo della metà dei carri, congiurò contro di lui. Mentre egli si trovava in Tirza, intento a bere fino all'ubriachezza in casa di Arza, sovrintendente del palazzo di Tirza,
10 Zimri came in, struck him down and kil ed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, andsucceeded him.	10 Zimri entrò, lo colpì e l'uccise, nell'anno ventisettesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò al suo posto.
11 On his accession, as soon as he was seated on the throne, he butchered Baasha's entire family, notleaving him one manjack of them alive, neither relative nor friend.	11 Divenuto re, non appena si assise sul trono, sterminò tutta la casa di Baasa e non risparmiò nessun maschio, nessun parente vendicatore o amico.
12 Zimri destroyed the whole House of Baasha, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spokenagainst Baasha through the prophet Jehu,	12 Così Zimri distrusse tutta la casa di Baasa secondo la parola che il Signore aveva pronunciato contro Baasa per mezzo del profeta Ieu,
13 because of all the sins of Baasha and his son Elah into which they had led Israel, provoking the angerof Yahweh, God of Israel, with their worthless idols.	13 a causa di tutti i peccati di Baasa e dei peccati di Ela suo figlio, che essi commisero e che avevano fatto commettere a Israele, in modo da irritare il Signore, Dio d'Israele, con i loro idoli vani.
14 The history of Elah, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings ofIsrael?	14 Le altre gesta di Ela e tutte le sue azioni non sono forse descritte nel libro degli Annali dei re d'Israele?
15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri became king for seven days, at Tirzah. Thepeople were then encamped in front of Gibbethon, a Philistine town.	15 Nell'anno ventisettesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, Zimri divenne re per sette giorni in Tirza. Il popolo si trovava accampato davanti a Ghibbeton dei Filistei.
16 When news reached the camp of how Zimri had not only plotted against but actual y killed the king, alIsrael proclaimed the army commander Omri as king of Israel in the camp that very day.	16 Come il popolo accampato udì: "Zimri si è ribellato e ha anche colpito a morte il re", tutto Israele, in quello stesso giorno, proclamò re sul campo Omri, capo dell'esercito.
17 Omri, and all Israel with him, raised the siege of Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.	17 Poi Omri con tutto Israele salì da Ghibbeton e assediò Tirza.
18 When Zimri saw that the town had been captured, he went into the keep of the royal palace, burnedthe palace over his own head, and died.	18 Quando Zimri vide che la città era presa, entrò nella fortezza del palazzo reale, appiccò dietro di sé il fuoco al palazzo reale e vi morì.
19 This was because of the sin which he had committed in doing what is displeasing to Yahweh, bycopying the example of Jeroboam and the sin into which he had led Israel.	19 Questo avvenne a causa dei peccati che aveva commesso, facendo il male agli occhi del Signore ed imitando la condotta di Geroboamo e il peccato che questi aveva commesso inducendo Israele al peccato.
20 The rest of the history of Zimri and of his conspiracy, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel?	20 Le altre gesta di Zimri e la congiura da lui ordita non sono forse descritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Israele?
21 The people of Israel then split into two factions: one half fol owing Tibni son of Ginath to make himking, the other half fol owing Omri.	21 Allora il popolo d'Israele si divise: metà del popolo seguiva Tibni, figlio di Ghinat, volendo farlo re; l'altra metà seguiva Omri.
22 But the faction of Omri proved stronger than that of Tibni son of Ginath; thus Tibni lost his life andOmri became king.	22 Il popolo che seguiva Omri prevalse su quello che seguiva Tibni, figlio di Ghinat. Tibni morì e Omri divenne re.
23 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel and reigned for twelve years.He reigned for six years at Tirzah.	23 Nell'anno trentunesimo di Asa, re di Giuda, Omri divenne re d'Israele per dodici anni. Egli regnò sei anni in Tirza.
24 Then for two talents of silver he bought the hil of Samaria from Shemer and on it built a town whichhe named Samaria after Shemer who had owned the hil .	24 Poi, per due talenti d'argento, acquistò da Semer il monte di Samaria: costruì sopra il monte e chiamò Samaria la città che vi aveva costruito, dal nome di Semer, il proprietario del monte.
25 Omri did what is displeasing to Yahweh, and was worse than al his predecessors.	25 Omri fece quello che è male agli occhi del Signore, anzi agì peggio di tutti quelli che l'avevano preceduto.
26 In every way he copied the example of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the sins into which he had ledIsrael, provoking the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel, with their worthless idols.	26 Imitò completamente la condotta di Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, e i peccati che questi aveva fatto commettere ad Israele, in modo da irritare con i loro idoli vani il Signore, Dio d'Israele.
27 The rest of the history of Omri, his career, his valour, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel?	27 Le altre gesta di Omri, le sue azioni e il valore che egli dispiegò non sono forse descritti nel libro degli Annali dei re di Israele?
28 When Omri fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Samaria; his son Ahab succeeded him.	28 Omri s'addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu seppellito in Samaria. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Acab.
29 Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and reignedover Israel for twenty-two years in Samaria.	29 Acab, figlio di Omri, divenne re d'Israele nell'anno trentottesimo di Asa, re di Giuda. Egli regnò su Israele in Samaria ventidue anni.
30 Ahab son of Omri did what is displeasing to Yahweh, and was worse than al his predecessors.	30 Acab, figlio di Omri, fece il male agli occhi del Signore più di tutti quelli che l'avevano preceduto.
31 The least that he did was to fol ow the sinful example of Jeroboam son of Nebat: he married Jezebeldaughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians, and then proceeded to serve Baal and worship him.	31 Né gli bastò d'imitare i peccati di Geroboamo, figlio di Nebàt, ma si prese in moglie Gezabele, figlia di Et-Baal, re dei Sidoni, si mise a servire Baal e l'adorò.
32 He erected an altar to him in the temple of Baal which he built in Samaria.	32 Innalzò infatti un altare a Baal nel tempio di Baal ch'egli aveva costruito in Samaria.
33 Ahab also put up a sacred pole and committed other crimes as well, provoking the anger of Yahweh,God of Israel, more than all the kings of Israel his predecessors.	33 Acab eresse anche un palo sacro e continuò ad agire in modo da irritare il Signore, Dio d'Israele, più di tutti i re d'Israele che l'avevano preceduto.
34 It was in his time that Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. Laying its foundations cost him his eldest sonAbiram and erecting its gates cost him his youngest son Segub, just as Yahweh had foretold through Joshua sonof Nun.	34 Al suo tempo Chiel di Betel ricostruì Gerico; a prezzo di Abiram, suo primogenito, ne pose le fondamenta, e a prezzo di Segub, suo ultimogenito, ne eresse le porte, secondo la parola che il Signore aveva detto per mezzo di Giosuè, figlio di Nun.
