1 The word of Yahweh came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha:	1 ויהי דבר יהוה אל יהוא בן חנני על בעשא לאמר
2 'I raised you from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you have fol owed Jeroboam'sexample and led my people Israel into sins which provoke my anger.	2 יען אשר הרימתיך מן העפר ואתנך נגיד על עמי ישראל ותלך בדרך ירבעם ותחטא את עמי ישראל להכעיסני בחטאתם
3 Now I shal sweep away Baasha and his House; I shal make your House like the House of Jeroboamson of Nebat.	3 הנני מבעיר אחרי בעשא ואחרי ביתו ונתתי את ביתך כבית ירבעם בן נבט
4 Those of Baasha's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the open country,the birds of the air wil eat.'	4 המת לבעשא בעיר יאכלו הכלבים והמת לו בשדה יאכלו עוף השמים
5 The rest of the history of Baasha, his career, his valour, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annalsof the Kings of Israel?	5 ויתר דברי בעשא ואשר עשה וגבורתו הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישראל
6 When Baasha fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Tirzah; his son Elah succeeded him.	6 וישכב בעשא עם אבתיו ויקבר בתרצה וימלך אלה בנו תחתיו
7 Furthermore, the word of Yahweh was delivered through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani againstBaasha and his House, first because of the many ways in which he had displeased Yahweh, provoking him toanger by his actions and becoming like the House of Jeroboam; secondly because he had destroyed that House.	7 וגם ביד יהוא בן חנני הנביא דבר יהוה היה אל בעשא ואל ביתו ועל כל הרעה אשר עשה בעיני יהוה להכעיסו במעשה ידיו להיות כבית ירבעם ועל אשר הכה אתו
8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel at Tirzah, fortwo years.	8 בשנת עשרים ושש שנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך אלה בן בעשא על ישראל בתרצה שנתים
9 Zimri, one of his officers, captain of half his chariotry, plotted against him. While he was at Tirzah,drinking himself senseless in the house of Arza who was master of the palace in Tirzah,	9 ויקשר עליו עבדו זמרי שר מחצית הרכב והוא בתרצה שתה שכור בית ארצא אשר על הבית בתרצה
10 Zimri came in, struck him down and kil ed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, andsucceeded him.	10 ויבא זמרי ויכהו וימיתהו בשנת עשרים ושבע לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך תחתיו
11 On his accession, as soon as he was seated on the throne, he butchered Baasha's entire family, notleaving him one manjack of them alive, neither relative nor friend.	11 ויהי במלכו כשבתו על כסאו הכה את כל בית בעשא לא השאיר לו משתין בקיר וגאליו ורעהו
12 Zimri destroyed the whole House of Baasha, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spokenagainst Baasha through the prophet Jehu,	12 וישמד זמרי את כל בית בעשא כדבר יהוה אשר דבר אל בעשא ביד יהוא הנביא
13 because of all the sins of Baasha and his son Elah into which they had led Israel, provoking the angerof Yahweh, God of Israel, with their worthless idols.	13 אל כל חטאות בעשא וחטאות אלה בנו אשר חטאו ואשר החטיאו את ישראל להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישראל בהבליהם
14 The history of Elah, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings ofIsrael?	14 ויתר דברי אלה וכל אשר עשה הלוא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישראל
15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri became king for seven days, at Tirzah. Thepeople were then encamped in front of Gibbethon, a Philistine town.	15 בשנת עשרים ושבע שנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך זמרי שבעת ימים בתרצה והעם חנים על גבתון אשר לפלשתים
16 When news reached the camp of how Zimri had not only plotted against but actual y killed the king, alIsrael proclaimed the army commander Omri as king of Israel in the camp that very day.	16 וישמע העם החנים לאמר קשר זמרי וגם הכה את המלך וימלכו כל ישראל את עמרי שר צבא על ישראל ביום ההוא במחנה
17 Omri, and all Israel with him, raised the siege of Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.	17 ויעלה עמרי וכל ישראל עמו מגבתון ויצרו על תרצה
18 When Zimri saw that the town had been captured, he went into the keep of the royal palace, burnedthe palace over his own head, and died.	18 ויהי כראות זמרי כי נלכדה העיר ויבא אל ארמון בית המלך וישרף עליו את בית מלך באש וימת
19 This was because of the sin which he had committed in doing what is displeasing to Yahweh, bycopying the example of Jeroboam and the sin into which he had led Israel.	19 על חטאתיו אשר חטא לעשות הרע בעיני יהוה ללכת בדרך ירבעם ובחטאתו אשר עשה להחטיא את ישראל
20 The rest of the history of Zimri and of his conspiracy, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel?	20 ויתר דברי זמרי וקשרו אשר קשר הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישראל
21 The people of Israel then split into two factions: one half fol owing Tibni son of Ginath to make himking, the other half fol owing Omri.	21 אז יחלק העם ישראל לחצי חצי העם היה אחרי תבני בן גינת להמליכו והחצי אחרי עמרי
22 But the faction of Omri proved stronger than that of Tibni son of Ginath; thus Tibni lost his life andOmri became king.	22 ויחזק העם אשר אחרי עמרי את העם אשר אחרי תבני בן גינת וימת תבני וימלך עמרי
23 In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri became king of Israel and reigned for twelve years.He reigned for six years at Tirzah.	23 בשנת שלשים ואחת שנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך עמרי על ישראל שתים עשרה שנה בתרצה מלך שש שנים
24 Then for two talents of silver he bought the hil of Samaria from Shemer and on it built a town whichhe named Samaria after Shemer who had owned the hil .	24 ויקן את ההר שמרון מאת שמר בככרים כסף ויבן את ההר ויקרא את שם העיר אשר בנה על שם שמר אדני ההר שמרון
25 Omri did what is displeasing to Yahweh, and was worse than al his predecessors.	25 ויעשה עמרי הרע בעיני יהוה וירע מכל אשר לפניו
26 In every way he copied the example of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the sins into which he had ledIsrael, provoking the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel, with their worthless idols.	26 וילך בכל דרך ירבעם בן נבט ובחטאתיו אשר החטיא את ישראל להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישראל בהבליהם
27 The rest of the history of Omri, his career, his valour, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel?	27 ויתר דברי עמרי אשר עשה וגבורתו אשר עשה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישראל
28 When Omri fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Samaria; his son Ahab succeeded him.	28 וישכב עמרי עם אבתיו ויקבר בשמרון וימלך אחאב בנו תחתיו
29 Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and reignedover Israel for twenty-two years in Samaria.	29 ואחאב בן עמרי מלך על ישראל בשנת שלשים ושמנה שנה לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך אחאב בן עמרי על ישראל בשמרון עשרים ושתים שנה
30 Ahab son of Omri did what is displeasing to Yahweh, and was worse than al his predecessors.	30 ויעש אחאב בן עמרי הרע בעיני יהוה מכל אשר לפניו
31 The least that he did was to fol ow the sinful example of Jeroboam son of Nebat: he married Jezebeldaughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians, and then proceeded to serve Baal and worship him.	31 ויהי הנקל לכתו בחטאות ירבעם בן נבט ויקח אשה את איזבל בת אתבעל מלך צידנים וילך ויעבד את הבעל וישתחו לו
32 He erected an altar to him in the temple of Baal which he built in Samaria.	32 ויקם מזבח לבעל בית הבעל אשר בנה בשמרון
33 Ahab also put up a sacred pole and committed other crimes as well, provoking the anger of Yahweh,God of Israel, more than all the kings of Israel his predecessors.	33 ויעש אחאב את האשרה ויוסף אחאב לעשות להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישראל מכל מלכי ישראל אשר היו לפניו
34 It was in his time that Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. Laying its foundations cost him his eldest sonAbiram and erecting its gates cost him his youngest son Segub, just as Yahweh had foretold through Joshua sonof Nun.	34 בימיו בנה חיאל בית האלי את יריחה באבירם בכרו יסדה ובשגיב צעירו הציב דלתיה כדבר יהוה אשר דבר ביד יהושע בן נון
