2 Samuel 7

1 Once the king had settled into his palace and Yahweh had granted him rest from al the enemiessurrounding him,	1 Allora il re poté abitare nella sua casa perché Dio gli aveva concesso riposo intorno da tutti i nemici.
2 the king said to the prophet Nathan, 'Look, I am living in a cedar-wood palace, while the ark of God isunder awnings.'	2 Il re disse al profeta Natan: «Considera: io abito in una casa di cedro, mentre l’arca di Dio sta in mezzo a una tenda!»
3 Nathan said to the king, 'Go and do whatever you have in mind, for Yahweh is with you.'	3 Natan disse al re: «Tutto ciò che hai in cuore, va’, fallo pure, poiché Jahvè è con te».
4 But that very night, the word of Yahweh came to Nathan:	4 Però quella stessa notte la parola di Jahvè fu rivolta a Natan:
5 'Go and tell my servant David, "Yahweh says this: Are you to build me a temple for me to live in?	5 «Va’ e di’ al mio servitore, a David: Così dice Jahvè: “Tu vorresti costruirmi una casa perché io vi dimori?
6 I have never lived in a house from the day when I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until today, buthave kept travel ing with a tent for shelter.	6 Eppure non ho abitato in una casa da quando ho fatto uscire i figli di Israele dall’Egitto fino a oggi: ma sono andato sempre girando in una tenda, in un padiglione.
7 In al my travels with al the Israelites, did I say to any of the judges of Israel, whom I had commanded to shepherd my people Israel: Why do you not build me a cedar-wood temple?"	7 Dovunque ho camminato in mezzo a tutti i figli di Israele, ho forse detto una sola parola a qualcuno dei Giudici che avevo stabilito per far pascolare il mio popolo Israele, in questo senso: Perché non mi avete costruito una casa di cedro?”.
8 This is what you must say to my servant David, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I took you from thepasture, from following the sheep, to be leader of my people Israel;	8 Ora dirai al mio servitore David: Così dice Jahvè degli eserciti: “Io ti ho preso dai pascoli, dalla custodia del bestiame, minuto; perché tu fossi principe sul mio popolo, su Israele:
9 I have been with you wherever you went; I have got rid of al your enemies for you. I am going to makeyour fame as great as the fame of the greatest on earth.	9 sono stato con te in ogni cosa che tu hai intrapreso; anche per il futuro intendo eliminare tutti i tuoi nemici innanzi a te e ti farò una fama simile a quella dei più grandi della terra;
10 I am going to provide a place for my people Israel; I shall plant them there, and there they wil live andnever be disturbed again; nor wil they be oppressed by the wicked any more, as they were in former times	10 fisserò. un posto al mio popolo, a Israele, e ve lo stabilizzerò così che egli abiti là senza timori, perché mai più gli iniqui lo opprimeranno come all’inizio,
11 ever since the time when I instituted judges to govern my people Israel; and I shal grant you rest fromal your enemies. Yahweh furthermore tel s you that he wil make you a dynasty.	11 da quando cioè io misi i Giudici su Israele, ma gli concederò riposo da tutti i nemici. Te poi Jahvè farà grande, poiché Jahvè ti farà una casa.
12 And when your days are over and you fal asleep with your ancestors, I shal appoint your heir, yourown son to succeed you (and I shal make his sovereignty secure.	12 Avverrà che, quando siano giunti al colmo i tuoi giorni e tu ti sarai riposato con i tuoi padri, io farò sussistere dopo di te il seme che uscirà dalle tue viscere e ne renderò stabile il regno.
13 He wil build a temple for my name) and I shal make his royal throne secure for ever.	13 Esso costruirà una casa al mio nome e io renderò stabile il trono del suo regno per sempre.
14 I shal be a father to him and he a son to me; if he does wrong, I shal punish him with a rod such asmen use, with blows such as mankind gives.	14 lo gli sarò padre ed egli mi sarà figlio: se commetterà iniquità lo percuoterò con la stessa verga con cui percuoto gli altri uomini, con colpi simili a quelli dei figli dell’uomo;
15 But my faithful love wil never be withdrawn from him as I withdrew it from Saul, whom I removed frombefore you.	15 ma non gli toglierò la mia benevolenza come l’ho tolta a Saul che ho allontanato dal mio cospetto.
16 Your dynasty and your sovereignty will ever stand firm before me and your throne be for ever secure."'	16 Perciò stabile sarà la tua casa e il tuo regno per sempre al mio cospetto: il tuo trono resterà saldo per sempre!”».
17 Nathan related al these words and this whole revelation to David.	17 Secondo tutte queste parole e questa visione Natan parlò a David.
18 King David then went in, sat down in Yahweh's presence and said: 'Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and whatis my lineage, for you to have led me as far as this?	18 Allora il re David andò a sedersi innanzi a Jahvè e disse: «Chi sono mai io, Signore Jahvè, e che cosa è la mia casa, perché tu mi abbia fatto giungere fino a tal punto?
19 Yet, to you, Lord Yahweh, this seemed too little, and now you extend your promises for your servant'sfamily into the distant future. Such is human destiny, Lord Yahweh.	19 Eppure ciò è parso ancora poco ai tuoi occhi, mio Signore Jahvè, e perciò tu hai anche parlato a proposito della casa del tuo servitore in vista di un lontano avvenire; e ciò tu fai conoscere all’uomo, mio Signore Jahvè!
20 What more can David say to you, since you, Lord Yahweh, know al about your servant?	20 Che cosa dunque continuerà a dirti ancora David, dal momento che tu conosci il tuo servitore, mio Signore Jahvè?
21 Because of your promise and since you were so inclined, you have had the generosity to reveal this toyour servant.	21 A causa della tua parola e secondo i tuoi disegni tu hai agito facendo conoscere al tuo servitore tutte queste grandi cose.
22 That is why you are great, Lord Yahweh; there is no one like you, no God but you alone, as everythingthat we have heard confirms.	22 Davvero sei grande, mio Signore Jahvè, poiché non c’è alcuno come te, anzi non c’è alcun dio fuori di te, secondo tutto ciò che abbiamo udito con le nostre orecchie!
23 Is there another people on earth like your people, like Israel, whom a god proceeded to redeem, tomake them his people and to make a name for himself by performing great and terrible things on their behalf, bydriving out nations and their gods before his people? -	23 E c’è forse sulla terra una sola gente come il tuo popolo, come Israele, che Dio è andato a liberare per costituirlo suo popolo, per fargli un nome e compiere in loro favore portenti e meraviglie, così che tu potessi cacciare via genti e dèi innanzi al popolo, che avevi liberato per te dall’Egitto?
24 for you constituted your people Israel your own people for ever and you, Yahweh, became their God.	24 E hai ben stabilito per te il tuo popolo Israele come tuo popolo per sempre; e tu, Jahvè, sei divenuto loro Dio.
25 'Now, Yahweh God, may the promise which you have made for your servant and for his family standfirm forever as you have said,	25 Ora, Jahvè Dio, conferma per sempre la parola che hai pronunciato a proposito del tuo servitore e della sua casa e fa’ come hai detto!
26 so that your name wil be exalted for ever and people wil say, "Israel's God is Yahweh Sabaoth." Yourservant David's dynasty wil be secure before you,	26 Allora sarà per sempre magnificato il tuo nome, in questo modo: “Jahvè degli eserciti è Dio su Israele!”. La casa dunque del tuo servitore David resti salda al tuo cospetto!
27 since you, Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, have disclosed to your servant, "I am going to buildyou a dynasty." Hence, your servant has ventured to offer this prayer to you.	27 Poiché tu, Jahvè degli eserciti, Dio di Israele, hai rivelato questo segreto al tuo servitore: “Una casa io costruirò a te”, perciò il tuo servitore ha trovato il coraggio di pregarti con questa preghiera.
28 Yes, Lord Yahweh, you are God indeed, your words are true and you have made this generouspromise to your servant.	28 Ora dunque, mio Signore Jahvè, tu sei Dio e le tue parole sono verità; poiché hai parlato al tuo servitore di questo bene,
29 What is more, you have deigned to bless your servant's dynasty, so that it may remain for ever beforeyou; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken; and may your servant's dynasty be blessed with your blessing forever.'	29 su, dunque, degnati benedire la casa del tuo servitore affinché rimanga per sempre alla tua presenza, dal momento che tu, mio Signore Jahvè, hai parlato e, grazie alla tua benedizione, la casa del tuo servitore sarà benedetta per sempre!»
