NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 David addressed the words of this song to Yahweh, when Yahweh had delivered him from theclutches of all his enemies and from the clutches of Saul.	1 E DAVIDE proferì al Signore le parole di questo cantico, al giorno che il Signore l’ebbe riscosso dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici, e dalla mano di Saulle;
2 He said: Yahweh is my rock and my fortress,	2 e disse: Il Signore è la mia rocca, e la mia fortezza, e il mio liberatore;
3 my deliverer is my God. I take refuge in him, my rock, my shield, my saving strength, my stronghold,my place of refuge. My Saviour, you have saved me from violence;	3 Egli è l’Iddio della mia rupe, io spererò in lui; Egli è il mio scudo, e il corno della mia salute; Il mio alto ricetto, il mio rifugio; Il mio Salvatore, che mi salva di violenza.
4 I cal to Yahweh, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.	4 Io invocai il Signore, al quale appartiene ogni lode, E fui salvato da’ miei nemici.
5 With Death's breakers closing in on me, Belial's torrents ready to swal ow me,	5 Perciocchè onde di morte mi aveano intorniato, Torrenti di scellerati mi aveano spaventato.
6 Sheol's snares on every side of me, Death's traps lying ahead of me,	6 Legami di sepolcro, mi aveano circondato, Lacci di morte mi aveano incontrato.
7 I cal ed to Yahweh in my anguish, I cried for help to my God, from his Temple he heard my voice, mycry came to his ears!	7 Mentre io era distretto, io invocai il Signore, E gridai all’Iddio mio; Ed egli udì la mia voce dal suo Tempio, E il mio grido pervenne a’ suoi orecchi.
8 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the heavens' foundations shuddered, they quaked at his blazinganger.	8 Allora la terra fu smossa, e tremò; I fondamenti de’ cieli furono crollati e scossi; Perciocchè egli era acceso nell’ira.
9 Smoke rose from his nostrils, from his mouth devouring fire (coals were kindled at it).	9 Fumo gli saliva per le nari, E fuoco consumante per la bocca; Da lui procedevano brace accese.
10 He parted the heavens and came down, a storm-cloud underneath his feet;	10 Ed egli abbassò i cieli, e discese, Avendo una caligine sotto a’ suoi piedi.
11 riding one of the winged creatures, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.	11 E cavalcava sopra Cherubini, e volava, Ed appariva sopra le ale del vento.
12 He wrapped himself in darkness, his pavilion dark waters and dense cloud.	12 Ed avea poste d’intorno a sè, per tabernacoli, tenebre, Viluppi d’acque, e nubi dell’aria,
13 A brightness lit up before him, hail and blazing fire.	13 Dallo splendore che scoppiava davanti a lui, Procedevano brace accese.
14 Yahweh thundered from the heavens, the Most High made his voice heard.	14 Il Signore tonò dal cielo, E l’Altissimo mandò fuori la sua voce;
15 He shot his arrows and scattered them, his lightning flashed and routed them.	15 Ed avventò saette, e disperse coloro; Folgore, e li mise in rotta.
16 The very springs of ocean were exposed, the world's foundations were laid bare, at the roaring ofYahweh, at the blast of breath from his nostrils!	16 E, per lo sgridare del Signore, E per lo soffiar dell’alito delle sue nari, I canali del mare furon veduti, I fondamenti del mondo furono scoperti.
17 He reached down from on high, snatched me up, pul ed me from the watery depths,	17 Egli da alto distese la mano, Mi prese, mi trasse fuori di grandi acque.
18 rescued me from my mighty foe, from my enemies who were stronger than I.	18 Egli mi riscosse dal mio potente nemico, Da quelli che mi odiavano; perciocchè erano più forti di me.
19 They assailed me on my day of disaster, but Yahweh was there to support me,	19 Essi mi erano venuti incontro al giorno della mia calamità; Ma il Signore fu il mio sostegno.
20 he freed me, set me at large, he rescued me, because he loves me.	20 E mi trasse fuori in luogo largo; Egli mi liberò; perciocchè egli mi gradisce.
21 Yahweh rewards me for my uprightness, as my hands are pure so he repays me,	21 Il Signore mi ha fatta la retribuzione secondo la mia giustizia; Egli mi ha renduto secondo la purità delle mie mani.
22 since I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and not fal en away from my God.	22 Perciocchè io ho osservate le vie del Signore, E non mi sono empiamente rivolto dall’Iddio mio.
23 His judgements are al before me, his statutes I have not put away from me;	23 Perciocchè io ho tenute davanti agli occhi tutte le sue leggi, E non mi son rivolto da’ suoi statuti.
24 I am blameless before him, I keep myself clear of evil.	24 E sono stato intiero inverso lui, E mi son guardato dalla mia iniquità.
25 Hence Yahweh repaid me for acting uprightly because he could see I was pure.	25 E il Signore mi ha fatta la retribuzione secondo la mia giustizia, Secondo la purità che io ho guardata davanti agli occhi suoi.
26 Faithful you are to the faithful, blameless with the blameless,	26 Tu ti mostri pietoso inverso il pio, Intiero inverso l’uomo intiero.
27 sincere to the sincere but cunning to the crafty,	27 Puro inverso il puro, E ritroso inverso il perverso;
28 you save a people that is humble and humiliate those with haughty looks.	28 E salvi la gente afflitta, E bassi gli occhi in su gli altieri.
29 Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness;	29 Perciocchè tu sei la mia lampana, o Signore; E il Signore allumina le mie tenebre.
30 with you I storm the rampart with my God I can scale any wal .	30 Perciocchè per te io rompo tutta una schiera; Per l’Iddio mio io salgo sopra il muro.
31 This God, his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is theshield of al who take refuge in him.	31 La via di Dio è intiera; La parola del Signore è purgata col fuoco; Egli è scudo a tutti coloro che sperano in lui.
32 For who is God but Yahweh, who is a rock but our God:	32 Perciocchè, chi è Dio, fuor che il Signore? E chi è Rocca, fuor che l’Iddio nostro?
33 this God who girds me with strength, who makes my way free from blame,	33 Iddio è la mia forza; e il mio valore; Ed ha renduta spedita e appianata la mia via.
34 who makes me as swift as a deer and sets me firmly on the heights,	34 Egli rende i miei piedi simili a quelli delle cerve, E mi fa star ritto in su i miei alti luoghi.
35 who trains my hands for battle my arms to bend a bow of bronze.	35 Egli ammaestra le mie mani alla battaglia, E con le mie braccia un arco di rame è spezzato.
36 You give me your invincible shield, you never cease to listen to me,	36 Tu mi hai ancora dato lo scudo della tua salvezza, E la tua benignità mi ha accresciuto.
37 you give me the strides of a giant, give me ankles that never weaken-	37 Tu hai allargati i miei passi sotto me, E le mie calcagna non son vacillate.
38 I pursue my enemies and exterminate them, not turning back till they are annihilated;	38 Io ho perseguiti i miei nemici, e li ho sterminati; E non me ne son tornato indietro, finchè non li avessi distrutti.
39 I strike them down, and they cannot rise, they fal , they are under my feet.	39 Io li ho distrutti, e li ho trafitti, e non son potuti risorgere; E mi son caduti sotto a’ piedi.
40 You have girded me with strength for the fight, bent down my assailants beneath me,	40 E tu mi hai cinto di prodezza per la guerra; Tu hai abbassati sotto me quelli che si levavano contro a me.
41 made my enemies retreat before me; and those who hate me I destroy.	41 Ed hai fatte voltar le spalle a’ miei nemici, Ed a coloro che mi odiavano, davanti a me; Ed io li ho sterminati.
42 They cry out, there is no one to save, to Yahweh, but no answer comes.	42 Essi riguardavano in qua ed in là, ma non vi fu chi li salvasse; Riguardarono al Signore, ma egli non rispose loro.
43 I crumble them like the dust of the squares, trample them like the mud of the streets.	43 Ed io li ho stritolati minuto come polvere della terra; Io li ho calpestati, schiacciati, come il fango delle strade.
44 You free me from the quarrels of my people, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I didnot know are now my servants,	44 Tu mi hai ancora scampato dalle brighe del mio popolo; Tu mi hai guardato per esser capo di genti; Il popolo che io non conosceva, mi è divenuto servo.
45 foreigners come wooing my favour, no sooner do they hear than they obey me,	45 Gli stranieri si sono infinti inverso me; Al solo udire degli orecchi, si son renduti ubbidienti a me.
46 foreigners grow faint of heart, they come trembling out of their fastnesses.	46 Gli stranieri son divenuti fiacchi, Ed hanno tremato di paura fin dentro i lor ricetti chiusi.
47 Life to Yahweh! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation,	47 Viva il Signore, e benedetta sia la mia Rocca; E sia esaltato Iddio, ch’è la Rocca della mia salvezza.
48 the God who gives me vengeance and crushes the peoples under me,	48 Iddio è quel che mi dà modo di far le mie vendette, E che abbassa i popoli sotto me.
49 who takes me away from my enemies. You lift me high above those who attack me, you deliver mefrom the man of violence.	49 Ed è quel che mi trae fuori da’ miei nemici; Tu mi levi ad alto d’infra coloro che mi assaltano, E mi riscuoti dagli uomini violenti.
50 For this I wil praise you, Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.	50 Perciò, o Signore, io ti celebrerò fra le nazioni, E salmeggerò al tuo Nome;
51 He saves his king, time after time, displays faithful love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever.	51 Il quale rende magnifiche le vittorie del suo re, Ed usa benignità inverso Davide, suo Unto, E inverso la sua progenie, in sempiterno
