1 So Israel set out with al his possessions. Arriving at Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of hisfather Isaac.	1 Partito Israele con tutto quello che aveva, giunse al pozzo del giuramento; e ivi avendo immolato vittime al Dio del padre suo Isacco,
2 God spoke to Israel in a vision at night, 'Jacob, Jacob,' he said. 'Here I am,' he replied.	2 Udì in visione di notte tempo uno, che lo chiamava, e gli diceva: Giacobbe, Giacobbe: a cui egli rispose: Eccomi qui.
3 'I am El, God of your father,' he said. 'Do not be afraid of going down to Egypt, for I will make you intoa great nation there.	3 Dissegli Dio: Io sono il Dio fortissimo del padre tuo: non temere: va' in Egitto, perocché ivi ti farò capo di una gran nazione.
4 I shal go down to Egypt with you and I myself shall bring you back again, and Joseph's hand wilclose your eyes.'	4 Io verrò teco colà, e ti sarò guida nel tuo ritorno di là: Giuseppe ancora chiuderà a te gli occhi.
5 So Jacob left Beersheba. Israel's sons conveyed their father Jacob, their little children and their wivesin the waggons Pharaoh had sent to fetch him.	5 E alzossi Giacobbe dal pozzo del giuramento: e i suoi figliuoli lo misero coi bambini e le donne su' carri mandati da Faraone per trasportare il vecchio,
6 Taking their livestock and all that they had acquired in Canaan, they arrived in Egypt -- Jacob and alhis offspring.	6 E tutto quello che possedeva nella terra di Chanaan: ed egli giunse in Egitto con tutta la sua stirpe,
7 With him to Egypt, he brought his sons and grandsons, his daughters and granddaughters -- al hisoffspring.	7 Co' suoi figliuoli, e coi nipoti, e figlie, e tutta insieme la discendenza.
8 These were the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who arrived in Egypt: Reuben,Jacob's first-born,	8 E questi sono i nomi de' figliuoli d'Israele, i quali entrarono in Egitto, egli co' suoi figliuoli de' quali il primogenito Ruben.

30 Israel said to Joseph, 'Now I can die, now that I have seen you in person and seen you stil alive.'	30 E il padre disse a Giuseppe: Ora io morrò contento, perché ho veduta la tua faccia, e ti lascio dopo di me.
31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and his father's family, 'I shall go back and break the news toPharaoh. I shall tel him, "My brothers and my father's family who were in Canaan have come to me.	31 Ma quegli disse a' suoi fratelli, e a tutta la famiglia del padre suo: Anderò a recar la nuova a Faraone, e gli dirò: I miei fratelli, e la famiglia del padre mio, che erano nella terra di Chanaan, sono venuti da me:
32 The men are shepherds and look after livestock, and they have brought their flocks and cattle and altheir possessions."	32 E sono uomini pastori di pecore, e si occupano a mantenere de' greggi: hanno condotto seco il loro bestiame, e gli armenti, e tutto quello che potevano avere.
33 Thus, when Pharaoh summons you and asks, "What is your occupation?",	33 E quand'egli vi chiamerà, e vi dirà: Qual mestiere è il vostro?
34 you are to say, "Ever since our boyhood your servants have looked after livestock, we and ourfathers before us," so that you can stay in the Goshen region -- for the Egyptians have a horror of al shepherds.'	34 Voi risponderete: Noi servi tuoi siamo pastori dalla nostra infanzia sino a quest'ora, e noi, e i padri nostri.
