1 It happened some time later that the king of Egypt's cup-bearer and his baker offended their masterthe king of Egypt.	1 - Dopo queste cose, accadde che due eunuchi, il coppiere ed il panettiere del re d'Egitto, mancarono verso il loro padrone.
2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,	2 Sdegnato il Faraone contro di loro (uno era il capo dei coppieri, e l'altro dei panettieri),
3 and put them in custody in the house of the commander of the guard, in the gaol where Joseph was aprisoner.	3 li fece metter nel carcere del capo delle milizie, dov'era prigioniero anche Giuseppe.
4 The commander of the guard assigned Joseph to them to attend to their wants, and they remained incustody for some time.	4 Ma il capo della carcere li affidò a Giuseppe, che anche li serviva. Era passato un po' di tempo da che erano prigionieri,
5 Now both of them had dreams on the same night, each with its own meaning for the cup-bearer andthe baker of the king of Egypt, who were prisoners in the gaol.	5 quando ebbero ambedue nella stessa notte un sogno, il cui significato si riferiva a loro.
6 When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they looked gloomy,	6 Al mattino, essendo andato a loro Giuseppe, vedendoli tristi,
7 and he asked the two officials who were in custody with him in his master's house, 'Why these sadlooks today?'	7 li interrogò, dicendo: «Perchè il vostro viso è oggi più triste del solito?».
8 They replied, 'We have each had a dream, but there is no one to interpret it.' 'Are not interpretationsGod's business?' Joseph asked them. 'Tel me about them.'	8 Risposero: «Abbiamo avuto un sogno, e non v'è chi ce lo interpreti». Disse loro Giuseppe: «Non sta forse a Dio l'interpretarlo? Raccontatemi che cosa avete veduto».
9 So the chief cup-bearer described his dream to Joseph, tel ing him, 'In my dream there was a vine infront of me.	9 Il capo coppiere raccontò pel primo il suo sogno: «Vedevo avanti a me una vite
10 On the vine were three branches; no sooner had it budded than it blossomed, and its clustersbecame ripe grapes.	10 con tre tralci, che cresceva a poco a poco mettendo le gemme, poi i fiori, e quindi maturava l'uva;
11 I had Pharaoh's cup in my hand; I picked the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and putthe cup into Pharaoh's hand.'	11 io avevo in mano il calice del Faraone. Allora presi l'uva, la spremei nel calice che tenevo, e passai la bevanda al Faraone».
12 'This is what it means,' Joseph told him. 'The three branches are three days.	12 Rispose Giuseppe: «Ecco la spiegazione del sogno. I tre tralci sono tre giorni ancora,
13 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by restoring you to your position. Then you wilhand Pharaoh his cup, as you did before, when you were his cup-bearer.	13 dopo i quali il Faraone si ricorderà dei tuoi servizi, ti rimetterà nell'ufficio di prima, e tu gli porgerai il calice, secondo il tuo ufficio, come solevi far per l'innanzi.
14 But be sure to remember me when things go wel with you, and keep faith with me by kindlyreminding Pharaoh about me, to get me out of this house.	14 Soltanto, ricordati di me quando ti troverai bene, ed usami misericordia suggerendo al Faraone di trarmi da questo carcere;
15 I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews in the first place, and even here I have done nothingto warrant being put in the dungeon.'	15 poichè come per furto fui rapito dalla terra degli Ebrei, e qui son stato messo in prigione, pur essendo innocente».
16 The chief baker, seeing that the interpretation had been favourable, said to Joseph, 'I too had adream; there were three wicker trays on my head.	16 Vedendo il capo panettiere che egli aveva sapientemente spiegato il sogno, disse: «A me in sogno pareva d'avere sul capo tre canestri di farina:
17 In the top tray there were al kinds of pastries for Pharaoh, such as a baker might make, and thebirds were eating them off the tray on my head.'	17 nel canestro che stava sopra agli altri, portavo d'ogni sorta di quei cibi che fanno i panettieri, e gli uccelli ne beccavano».
18 Joseph replied as fol ows, 'This is what it means: the three trays are three days.	18 Rispose Giuseppe: «Ecco la spiegazione del sogno. I tre canestri sono tre giorni ancora,
19 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by hanging you on a gallows, and the birds willeat the flesh off your bones.'	19 dopo i quali il Faraone ti farà tagliar la testa, ed appendere in croce, e gli uccelli divoreranno le tue carni».
20 And so it happened; the third day was Pharaoh's birthday and he gave a banquet for al his officials.Of his officials he lifted up the head of the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,	20 Tre giorni dopo, era il natalizio del Faraone, il quale, facendo un gran banchetto ai suoi ministri, si ricordò durante il convito del capo coppiere e del capo panettiere;
21 the chief cup-bearer by restoring him to his cup-bearing, so that he again handed Pharaoh his cup;	21 restituì il primo nel suo ufficio, a porgergli da bere;
22 and by hanging the chief baker, as Joseph had explained to them.	22 fece appendere l'altro al patibolo. Così fu dimostrata la verità dell'interpretazione.
23 But the chief cup-bearer did not remember Joseph; he had forgotten him.	23 Ma il capo coppiere, in mezzo alla prosperità, si dimenticò dell'interprete.
