1 It happened some time later that the king of Egypt's cup-bearer and his baker offended their masterthe king of Egypt.	1 Dopo di ciò avvenne, che due eunuchi, il coppiere, e il panettiere del re d'Egitto peccarono contro del loro signore.
2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,	2 E Faraone sdegnato contro di costoro (uno dei quali era capo dei coppieri, e l'altro de' panattieri)
3 and put them in custody in the house of the commander of the guard, in the gaol where Joseph was aprisoner.	3 Li fece mettere nella prigione del capitano delle milizie, dove era rinchiuso anche Giuseppe.
4 The commander of the guard assigned Joseph to them to attend to their wants, and they remained incustody for some time.	4 E il custode della prigione li consegnò a Giuseppe, il quale ancor li serviva. Era passato un tratto di tempo, dacché quegli erano rinchiusi:
5 Now both of them had dreams on the same night, each with its own meaning for the cup-bearer andthe baker of the king of Egypt, who were prisoners in the gaol.	5 Quando ambedue la stessa notte videro un sogno di significazione adattata al caso loro.
6 When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they looked gloomy,	6 Ed essendo la mattina andato Giuseppe a trovargli, e vedutili malinconici,
7 and he asked the two officials who were in custody with him in his master's house, 'Why these sadlooks today?'	7 Gl'interrogò, dicendo: Per qual motivo oggi avete la faccia più afflitta del solito?
8 They replied, 'We have each had a dream, but there is no one to interpret it.' 'Are not interpretationsGod's business?' Joseph asked them. 'Tel me about them.'	8 Risposer quegli: Abbiam veduto un sogno, e non abbiamo chi a noi lo interpreti. E Giuseppe disse loro: Non appartiene egli a Dio l'interpretarli? ditemi quel che avete veduto.
9 So the chief cup-bearer described his dream to Joseph, tel ing him, 'In my dream there was a vine infront of me.	9 Il gran coppiere raccontò il primo il suo sogno: Io vedeva davanti a me una vite,
10 On the vine were three branches; no sooner had it budded than it blossomed, and its clustersbecame ripe grapes.	10 La quale avea tre tralci, che gettavano a poco a poco gli occhi, e poi i fiori, e poi le uve, che maturavano:
11 I had Pharaoh's cup in my hand; I picked the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and putthe cup into Pharaoh's hand.'	11 E nella mia mano era la coppa di Faraone: e presi le uve, e le spremei nella coppa che avea in mano, e presentai da bere a Faraone.
12 'This is what it means,' Joseph told him. 'The three branches are three days.	12 Rispose Giuseppe: La spiegazione del sogno è questa: Tre tralci, tre giorni vi sono ancora,
13 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by restoring you to your position. Then you wilhand Pharaoh his cup, as you did before, when you were his cup-bearer.	13 Dopo de' quali si ricorderà Faraone dei tuoi servigi, e ti renderà il posto di prima: e presenterai a lui la coppa secondo il tuo uffizio, come per l'avanti solevi fare.
14 But be sure to remember me when things go wel with you, and keep faith with me by kindlyreminding Pharaoh about me, to get me out of this house.	14 Solamente ricordati di me, quando sarai felice, e abbi compassione di me: e sollecita Faraone, che mi tragga da questa prigione:
15 I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews in the first place, and even here I have done nothingto warrant being put in the dungeon.'	15 Perocché con frode fui condotto via dalla terra degli Ebrei, e innocente fui gettato in questa fossa.
16 The chief baker, seeing that the interpretation had been favourable, said to Joseph, 'I too had adream; there were three wicker trays on my head.	16 Vedendo il capo dei panattieri, com'egli avea saggiamente diciferato quel sogno, disse: Io pure ho veduto un sogno. Pareami d'avere sopra il mio capo tre canestri di farina:
17 In the top tray there were al kinds of pastries for Pharaoh, such as a baker might make, and thebirds were eating them off the tray on my head.'	17 E che nel canestro di sopra io portassi d'ogni specie di mangiare, che si fa dall'arte de' panattieri, e che gli uccelli ne mangiavano.
18 Joseph replied as fol ows, 'This is what it means: the three trays are three days.	18 Rispose Giuseppe: La sposizione del sogno è questa: tre canestri, cioè tre giorni vi sono ancora,
19 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by hanging you on a gallows, and the birds willeat the flesh off your bones.'	19 Dopo i quali Faraone ti farà tagliare il capo, e ti farà crocifiggere, e gli uccelli dell'aria beccheranno le tue carni.
20 And so it happened; the third day was Pharaoh's birthday and he gave a banquet for al his officials.Of his officials he lifted up the head of the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,	20 Il terzo giorno di poi era il dì della nascita di Faraone; il quale facendo un gran convito a' suoi servi si ricordò a mensa del capo dei coppieri, e del capo dei panattieri,
21 the chief cup-bearer by restoring him to his cup-bearing, so that he again handed Pharaoh his cup;	21 E rendé all'uno il suo uffizio di presentargli la coppa:
22 and by hanging the chief baker, as Joseph had explained to them.	22 E l'altro fece appiccare a una croce, onde fu dimostrata la veracità dell'interprete.
23 But the chief cup-bearer did not remember Joseph; he had forgotten him.	23 Ma tornato in prosperità il capo dei coppieri si scordò del suo interprete.
