Genesis 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'	1 Quando poi Isacco fu invecchiato e la vista gli si era tanto indebolita da non vederci più, chiamato il suo figlio maggiore Esaù, gli disse: « figliolo mio! » Ed egli rispose: « Eccomi! »
2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.	2 E il padre a lui: « Come tu vedi, io sono invecchiato, e non so il giorno della mia morte.
3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.	3 Prendi le tue armi, il turcasso e l'arco, e va fuori a caccia, e quando avrai preso qualche cosa,
4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'	4 fammene una pietanza come sai che mi piace, e portamela a mangiare, affinchè l'anima mia ti benedica prima ch'io muoia ».
5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,	5 Avendo ciò udito Rebecca, appena Esaù se ne fu andato a caccia per compire il comando del padre,
6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,	6 disse a Giacobbe suo figliolo: «Ho sentito tuo padre parlare con Esaù tuo fratello e dirgli:
7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."	7 Portami della tua cacciagione, e fammi una pietanza, affinchè io la mangi, e ti benedica dinanzi al Signore prima di morire.
8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.	8 Or dunque, figlio mio, attienti ai miei consigli:
9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.	9 va alla greggia e portami i due migliori capretti, affinchè io ne faccia pel tuo padre quelle pietanze di cui si ciba con piacere;
10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'	10 e poi, quando tu gliele avrai portate ed egli le avrà mangiate, ti benedica prima di morire ».
11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.	11 E Giacobbe rispose: « Tu sai che Esaù mio fratello è peloso, ed io senza peli:
12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'	12 se per caso mio padre mi tasta e mi riconosce, temo che pensi che io abbia voluto burlarlo, e così mi tiri addosso la maledizione, invece della benedizione ».
13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'	13 E la madre a lui: « Ricada pure su di me questa maledizione, figlio mio; tu però ascolta la mia voce: va e porta quanto t'ho detto ».
14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.	14 Egli dunque li andò a prendere, li portò e li diede alla madre, la quale ne preparò le pietanze che sapeva gradite al padre di lui.
15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,	15 Poi fece indossare a Giacobbe il miglior vestito di Esaù, che teneva presso di se in casa,
16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.	16 e colle pelli dei capretti gli ravvolse le mani e gli coprì la parte nuda del collo;
17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.	17 finalmente gli diede le pietanze e i pani che essa aveva fatto cocere.
18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'	18 Giacobbe, avendo portato ogni cosa ad Isacco, gli disse: « Padre mio ». Ed egli rispose: «Ascolto. Chi sei tu, figliolo mio? »
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'	19 E Giacobbe disse: «Io sono il tuo primogenito Esaù: ho fatto quanto mi hai comandato: alzati, siedi e mangia della mia caccia, affinchè l'anima tua mi benedica ».
20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'	20 E Isacco replicò al figliolo: « Come, figliol mio, hai potuto trovarne così presto? » L'altro ripose: «Fu volere di Dio che m'inbattessi subito in ciò che bramava ».
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'	21 E Isacco disse: « Accostati, chè ti tasti, o figlio mio, e riconosca se tu sei o no il mio figlio Esaù ».
22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'	22 Allora egli s'accostò al padre, il quale, tastato che l'ebbe, disse: «La voce, veramente, sarebbe la voce di Giacobbe; ma le mani son quelle d'Esaù ».
23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.	23 Così non lo riconobbe, perchè le mani di lui eran pelose come quelle del fratello maggiore. Benedicendolo
24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'	24 disse: « Sei tu proprio il mio figliolo Esaù? » L'altro rispose « Sì ».
25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.	25 E il padre: « Dammi le pietanze della tua caccia, o figlio mio, affinchè l'anima mia ti benedica ». Giacobbe lo servì, e, quando il padre ebbe mangiato, gli portò anche il vino. Bevuto che ebbe il vino,
26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'	26 Isacco gli disse: « Accostati a me e dammi un bacio, figlio mio ».
27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.	27 Giacobbe s'accostò e lo baciò. E Isacco, appena sentita la fragranza del vestito di lui, benedì Giacobbe e disse: « Ecco l'odore del mio figlio è come l'odore d'un fiorito campo benedetto da Dio!
28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!	28 Dio ti doni della rugiada del cielo e della pinguedine della terra, e abbondanza di frumento e di vino.
29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!	29 A te servano i popoli, a te s'inchinino le genti. Sii il padrone dei tuoi fratelli. E s'inchinino damanti a te i figli di tua madre. Maledetto sia chiunque ti maledice e benedetto chiunque ti benedice ».
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.	30 Appena Isacco aveva finite queste parole, e Giacobbe se n'era andato, tornò Esaù,
31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'	31 e preparate le pietanze della sua caccia, le portò al padre, dicendo: « Alzati, padre mio, e mangia della caccia del tuo figliolo, affinchè l'anima tua mi benedica ».
32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.	32 E Isacco gli disse: « Ma chi sei tu? » Egli rispose: « Sono Esaù, il tuo figlio primogenito ».
33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'	33 Isacco inorridì, oppresso da grande stupore, e, fuori di sè dalla maraviglia, disse: « E allora chi è colui che mi ha già portato la caccia fatta? Io ho mangiato di tutto prima che tu venissi: e l'ho benedetto, e sarà benedetto ».
34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'	34 Udite le parole del padre, Esaù diede in un grido spaventoso, e costernato disse: «Benedici anche me, o padre mio! »
35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'	35 Isacco rispose: « Il tuo fratello è venuto con inganno, e si è presa la tua benedizione ».
36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'	36 Ed Esaù: « Con ragione gli fu posto il nome di Giacobbe, infatti mi ha soppiantato per la seconda volta: mi tolse già la mia primogenitura, ed ora mi ha tolta la mia benedizione». Poi disse: «Non hai serbato una benedizione anche per me? »
37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'	37 Isacco rispose: « Io l'ho costituito tuo signore, ed ho assoggettati al suo servizio tutti i suoi fratelli, l'ho provvisto di frumento e di vino; ed ora che potrei fare per te, o mio figliolo? »
38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.	38 Esaù gli disse: «Non hai che una benedizione sola, o padre? Benedici anche me: te ne scongiuro! » E siccome Esaù piangeva ad alte grida,
39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.	39 Isacco, mosso a compassione, gli disse: « La tua benedizione sarà nella pinguedine della terra
40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'	40 e nella rugiada che scende dal cielo. Vivrai della tua spada, e sarai servo del tuo fratello; ma quando ti agiterai scuoterai il suo giogo dal tuo collo ».
41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'	41 Esaù odiava sempre Giacobbe a causa della benedizione datagli dal padre, e disse in cuor suo: « Verranno i giorni del lutto pel mio padre, e allora ammazzerò il mio fratello Giacobbe ».
42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.	42 Essendo state riferite queste cose a Rebecca, essa mandò a chiamare Giacobbe suo figlio, e gli disse: «Ecco, tuo fratello Esaù minaccia di ucciderti.
43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.	43 Ora dunque, figlio mio, ascolta la mia voce e fuggi a Haran, da Labano mio fratello,
44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,	44 e stai là un po' di tempo, finché il furore del fratello tuo non sia passato,
45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'	45 finché non cessi la sua collera, ed egli non si scordi delle cose che gli hai fatte. Allora ti manderò a riprendere e ti farò tornare qua. Perchè dovrò io perdere tutt'e due i miei figlioli in un sol giorno? »
46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'	46 E Rebecca disse a Isacco: « Mi viene a noia la vita a causa di queste figliole di Het. Se Giacobbe prende una moglie della razza di questo paese, io non voglio più vivere ».
