Genesis 27

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'	1 Quando Isacco era diventato vecchio e gli occhi gli si erano indeboliti in modo che non vedeva più, chiamò il figlio maggiore Esaù e gli disse: "Figlio mio!". Gli rispose: "Eccomi!".
2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.	2 Riprese: "Vedi che io sono vecchio; non so il giorno della mia morte.
3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.	3 Ora prendi le tue armi, la tua faretra e il tuo arco, esci nella steppa e prendi per me della selvaggina.
4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'	4 Poi preparami un piatto gustoso che io amo e portamelo perché io ne mangi, affinché l'anima mia ti benedica prima che io muoia".
5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,	5 Or Rebecca ascoltava, mentre Isacco parlava al suo figlio Esaù. Andò, dunque, Esaù nella steppa a cacciar selvaggina.
6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,	6 Intanto Rebecca disse a Giacobbe suo figlio: "Bada, ho sentito tuo padre che parlava a tuo fratello Esaù in questi termini:
7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."	7 "Portami della selvaggina e preparami un piatto da mangiare, poi ti benedirò, con l'approvazione del Signore, prima della mia morte".
8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.	8 Orbene, figlio mio, obbedisci alla mia voce in ciò che ti comando:
9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.	9 va' al gregge e prendimi due bei capretti, affinché io ne faccia un piatto gustoso per tuo padre, come lui ama;
10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'	10 così tu lo porterai a tuo padre da mangiare in modo che ti benedica prima della sua morte".
11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.	11 Rispose Giacobbe a Rebecca, sua madre: "Bada che mio fratello Esaù è un uomo peloso, mentre io sono di pelle liscia.
12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'	12 Forse mio padre mi tasterà e io farò la figura di uno che si prende gioco di lui e attirerò sopra di me una maledizione invece che una benedizione!".
13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'	13 Ma sua madre gli rispose: "Sia sopra di me la maledizione, figlio mio! Tu obbedisci soltanto e vammi a prendere quanto ho detto".
14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.	14 Allora egli andò a prenderli e li portò a sua madre; così la madre sua ne fece un piatto gustoso, come amava suo padre.
15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,	15 Poi Rebecca prese i vestiti preziosi di Esaù, suo figlio maggiore, che erano in casa presso di lei e ne vestì Giacobbe, suo figlio minore,
16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.	16 mentre con le pelli dei capretti aveva rivestito le braccia di lui e la parte liscia del collo suo.
17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.	17 Poi mise in mano al suo figlio Giacobbe il piatto gustoso e il pane che aveva preparato.
18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'	18 Così egli venne da suo padre e disse: "Padre mio!". Rispose: "Eccomi; chi sei tu, figlio mio?".
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'	19 E Giacobbe rispose a suo padre: "Io sono Esaù, il tuo primogenito. Ho fatto come tu hai detto. Alzati, dunque, siediti e mangia la mia cacciagione, perché poi mi benedica l'anima tua".
20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'	20 Ma Isacco obiettò a suo figlio: "Come, dunque, hai fatto così presto a trovarla, figlio mio?". Rispose: "Il Signore me l'ha fatta capitare davanti".
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'	21 Isacco disse a Giacobbe: "Avvicinati e lascia che ti tasti, figlio mio, per sapere se tu sei proprio mio figlio Esaù, o no".
22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'	22 Giacobbe si avvicinò ad Isacco suo padre, il quale lo tastò e disse: "La voce è la voce di Giacobbe, ma le braccia sono le braccia di Esaù".
23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.	23 Così non lo smascherò, perché le braccia di lui erano pelose come le braccia di suo fratello Esaù, e si accinse a benedirlo.
24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'	24 Gli disse, dunque: "Sei proprio tu il mio figlio Esaù?". Rispose: "Lo sono".
25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.	25 Allora disse: "Porgimi da mangiare della cacciagione del mio figlio, perché l'anima mia ti benedica". Quello gliene porse ed egli mangiò e gli recò del vino ed egli bevve.
26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'	26 Poi suo padre Isacco gli disse: "Vieni qui vicino e baciami, figlio mio!".
27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.	27 Gli si avvicinò e lo baciò. Allora Isacco aspirò l'odore degli abiti di lui e lo benedisse dicendo: "Ecco: l'odore del figlio mio come l'odore d'un campo che il Signore ha benedetto.
28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!	28 Dio ti dia la rugiada dei cieli, i pingui succhi della terra e abbondanza di frumento e di mosto.
29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!	29 Ti servano i popoli e si prostrino davanti a te le genti. Sii padrone dei tuoi fratelli e si prostrino davanti a te i figli di tua madre. Chi ti maledice, sia maledetto, e chi ti benedice, sia benedetto!".
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.	30 Quando Isacco ebbe finito di benedire Giacobbe e questi era appena uscito dalla presenza di suo padre Isacco, ecco che Esaù, suo fratello, rientrò dalla caccia.
31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'	31 Anche lui preparò un piatto gustoso, poi lo recò a suo padre e gli disse: "Si alzi il mio padre e mangi della cacciagione del suo figlio, perché l'anima tua mi benedica".
32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.	32 Gli disse suo padre Isacco: "Chi sei tu?". Rispose: "Io sono il tuo figlio primogenito Esaù".
33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'	33 Allora Isacco fu scosso da un tremito grande assai e disse: "Chi è, dunque, colui che ha preso la cacciagione e me l'ha recata? Io ho mangiato tutto, prima che tu arrivassi, e l'ho benedetto. Anzi benedetto resterà!".
34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'	34 Quando Esaù sentì le parole di suo padre, scoppiò in un grido di dolore grande e amaro assai. Poi disse a suo padre: "Benedicimi... anche me, padre mio!".
35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'	35 Rispose: "E' venuto tuo fratello con inganno e si è presa la tua benedizione".
36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'	36 Rispose: "Certo, a ragione si chiama Giacobbe, perché m'ha soppiantato già due volte! Già si è presa la primogenitura ed ecco ora si è preso la mia benedizione!". Poi soggiunse: "Non hai forse conservato una benedizione per me?".
37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'	37 Isacco rispose e disse ad Esaù: "Ecco, io l'ho costituito tuo padrone e gli ho dato come servi tutti i suoi fratelli; l'ho sostenuto con frumento e mosto; e per te che cosa mai potrò fare, figlio mio?".
38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.	38 Esaù disse a suo padre: "Hai dunque una sola benedizione, padre mio? Benedicimi... anche me, padre mio!". Poi Esaù alzò la sua voce e pianse.
39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.	39 Allora Isacco suo padre prese la parola e disse a lui: "Ecco, senza pingui succhi della terra sarà la tua sede, e senza la rugiada dei cieli dall'alto!
40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'	40 Sulla tua spada vivrai, ma tuo fratello servirai; ma quando ti ribellerai, spezzerai il suo giogo dal tuo collo".
41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'	41 Esaù prese allora ad osteggiare Giacobbe per la benedizione che suo padre gli aveva dato, e disse nel suo cuore: "Si avvicinano i giorni del lutto per mio padre e allora ucciderò mio fratello Giacobbe".
42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.	42 Furono riferite a Rebecca le parole di Esaù, suo figlio maggiore, ed essa mandò a chiamare Giacobbe, suo figlio minore, e gli disse: "Bada che Esaù, tuo fratello, vuol vendicarsi di te, uccidendoti.
43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.	43 Or dunque, figlio mio, ubbidisci alla mia voce: fuggi verso Carran, da mio fratello Làbano.
44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,	44 Abiterai con lui qualche tempo, finché l'irritazione di tuo fratello si sarà calmata.
45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'	45 Quando si sarà stornata da te la collera di tuo fratello e si sarà dimenticato di quello che gli hai fatto, allora io manderò a prenderti di là. Perché dovrei venir privata di voi due in un sol giorno?".
46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'	46 Allora Rebecca disse ad Isacco: "Mi viene a noia la vita a causa di queste donne hittite; se Giacobbe prende in moglie qualche donna hittita come queste, tra le figlie del paese, a che cosa mi serve la vita?".
